EVen though the numbers of suicides in EMS Is not considered epidemic I bet you ask anyone who has been directly affected by this situation and they will tell you that it seems like an epidemic. Just becuase the numbers are low does not mean that an epidemic is not occurring. the three times I've been directly affected by suicide in ems, all three were directly preventable had the provider have come out and asked for help. Dammit, the denial in our industry is fucking disturbing and it pisses me off.

Well I guess that the 74 people with Measles is not an epidemic, but the media sure seems to make it seem like it's an epidemic. Oh wait, only 74 have measles so it's not an epidemic according Mikey's reasoning.

Well it has now been a day or two since the supposed meeting with the doctor and no return from the OP.

I also hate that road. Every time a wreck happens on that road it shuts down and more often than not both directions are closed down due to all the equipment that they dispatch there.

I drive that stretch of roadway about 2 times a week and there are not many landmarks or exit signs. IF you are not familiar with the highway, especially at night, then I can see how she had no clue where she was. And that road is rush hour 24 hours a day. 3am and it's often times bumper to bumper.

About 15 hours in the ambulance. That's a long trip. Meal breaks, restroom breaks, rage breaks, no x-box. This is NOT a trip I would want to take, pt sedated or not. You need to make sure you have a good updated GPS in the truck with all the local close by hospitals in it. You need your cell phones fully charged and ready to go for when and IF , and it's more likely a when this guy goes off. This is definately NOT a trip I want to take. This qualifies as Hazard duty to me. I would not volunteer for this trip.

This was the 2nd fatal pedestrian struck on that stretch of roadway in two days. Both I think were hit and runs too. NOt sure on the second fact though. Baltimore and surrounding areas are more dangerous for pedestrians than some mid size cities are for homicide victims. I think there were somewhat like 1100 pedestrians struck in Baltimore last year.
