  1. I've seen it spark but never erupt in flames. Your instructor might have been exaggerating but then again I was not there so I can't make even the closest judgement of truth or not. But as for the boom factor - no boom there.
  2. I don't know what sector the pain is at. It's your scenario. You tell me?
  3. Ok take the pregnancy out Endometriosis PID UTI
  4. That crate of nitro he dropped was actually dropped in the ammo depot at the base in Iraq. Did anyone see that fire? WOW I'm glad it got under control and I don't believe anyone was injured.
  5. 1. morning sickness 2. Ectopic preg 3. migraine 4. UTI 5. Miscarriage 6. low grade fever - infection unknown etiology no diagnosis in the field, suspicions only though. How long vomiting? I'd start a line for rehydration if you can. Get a blood sample for blood sugar. Set of vitals of course That's really all I'd do for the ride to the ER. Send her a bill for 1500 for ambulance ride he he
  6. i agree I've been in EMS for 15 years 8 of them being in the ER/ambulance and I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen our ring cutters used and the only time I've seen them used is to remove the ring due to damage to the finger the ring is on. Otherwise you have many other ways of removing the rings. KY jelly, vaseline, string method and just good ole fashione - "hey patient, take your own dang ring off"
  7. Hey dust, I'll run over to your house and get it for him. I just need your address, yeah, your address and your keys to your garage. You trust me don't ya?
  8. didn't we cover this about 3 weeks ago ad nauseum(sic)?
  9. less than 600 posts left before the book get's sent out. I'll be watching the article count and as soon as I see it hit 75000 I'll extrapolate back to the poster who hit 75000.
  10. this is a significant problem with medics/emt's who have been in the field for a while and have to go back to take the class again either due to your situation or to get nationally registered. They have the way they have always done things and then there is the class way to do it You have to get out of the mindset that you are a working medic/emt. You have to move into the mode of student and not practicing emt. Do what they are wanting you to do and try to step out of the way you've always done it. If you don't do it the class way then you will(WILL) fail. The evaluators for the national registry or state testing don't give a crap that you ahve been in the field for 11 years, all they care about is if you do the skills the way the skill sheets say they are to be done. My best advice - try to get back into the student mode. the more practice you can get in the better.
  11. I get about 20-25 of these a week. Just delete them. Once your email is on their list it never fricking ends Plus anyone who sends these yahoos money deserves to get their money taken.
  12. In my medic refresher course Bob Page the instructor ran us thru a whole plethora of cases and one of them was Myxedema coma. He also required us to look it up in a text or google to find the info on myxdema coma. It was a eye opening class to say the least.
  13. yes I'm still confused. but color me confused did he code prior to sending the 12 lead or after?
  14. What is an AED response? You have a 12 lead yet you upgraded to a AED Response? Please explain as I'm really confused here. So the guy coded I assume?
  15. I found that article to be a refreshing article. If my grandfathers doctor would have made housecalls maybe he would have lived a little longer, long enough to meet my son. I don't see where you can correlate that we're doin the same thing as the doctors. They have their niche and we have ours. WE can tell people what we see but as for guaranteeing that what we point out get's done there is no way to guarantee that. Yet a physician can. I think the housecall is a not so lost art. I know of several physicians in the small town I used to work in that would make housecalls.
  16. Now hammer No offense taken. Check your pm's
  17. Hammerpcp you hit the nail right on the head.
  18. This is a morbid topic, but I'll add two to it. Both involved dogs and their masters 1. 85 year old woman in cardiac arrest - her old basset hound was sitting 3 feet away with those sad eyes looking at me. 2. 67 year old male. We walked in his house and were confronted by a very mean looking Doberman. He just stood there and then sat down. We took it as our cue to go upstairs because he was looking upstairs. No one else in the house. It was the 67 year old man who called 911 with chest pain. We yelled upstairs - no response. We walked into each room and in the master bedroom we found the man coded and about the time we found him the Dog Howled like a wolf baying to the moon. My partner and I looked at each other and I got goose bumps. Did the dog know his master was dead? We never brought him back. The dog was howling during the entire code. We called it in the house and the dog walked into the room and laid down next to his master.
  19. Scaramedic, what a incredible story. I don't envy you especially with the paperwork My time in the coal chute of the powerplant was cool. I was covered with Black coal dust. I never even expected that there would be so much dust but i was covered with coal dust and ended up coughing up some really nasty black stuff for about a week. No residual effects, cough cough, that I can see.
  20. Think of the X-files and their quote at the beginning of the show "They're out there"
  21. LMFAO that's hilarious I think this also may apply to the KC Chiefs this year. Did anyone see the nfl player puke his guts up on the field?
  22. One more time for everyone Google Scholar is the place I go to get the info I need on studies http://scholar.google.com type in the search field Hit enter Enjoy But for the links you are wanting http://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&lr=&q=PASG
  23. so you are going to keep this going hmmmmm okie dokie. I always like a good argument even though the argument is a silly one. Have at it.
  24. For the sanity of the group as well as tempers, take this to PM please. I've been told in the past to take it to PM's so I'd advise you to do the same. You'll find that once you take it to PM's the novelty of posting negative nasty remarks back and forth will dissipate after the first pm.
