Creighton CCEMT-P Online Course
Just Plain Ruff replied to MP-EMT22's topic in Education and Training
so now that I find out that the link in the original post is to some lip balm I'd like to see if anyone has the real link. And here it is http://ems.creighton.edu/pages/critical-care-paramedic-online -
DOH color me feeling stupid. I don't think I have contacts there. She still needs to contact me, I might have a person she might want to talk to. He would know of opportunites but she'd have to move.

Thank you Systemet for bringing up a very important thing Someone pays for healthcare - either at the initial point (taxes or insurance premiums) or the end (out of pocket costs) NO HEALTHCARE is FREE but the media and the politicians and just plain low information voters in America all seem to perpetuate that with Obamacare that many people's healthcare will be free No matter what, someone will be paying for someone elses healthcare. Let's take a Emergency room visit Total cost 2500 My co-pay = 100.00 My insurance covers 2100 of it because it's a pretty darn good insurance plan My premiums are about 500 per month My company has about 12000 people all paying between 110 and 700 per month The hospital I went to negotiated a discount of 1875.00 So the bill to me is 750 because of some funny accounting numbers and because I have not reached my out of pocket or something like that So somewhere someone or a group of someone (12000 someone's) paid 2100 of my emergency room bill minus some discount minus my actual bill of 750 I don't do the math but it's hard for me to follow as well. But in the end, health care will still be as expensive for all of us.

So Chris, would the online course be beneficial to take? Your thoughts. OK Just a caveat, when you provide a link, like the one provided in this post, make sure that you check that link for correctness. I just clicked on it and it took me to a amazon.com link for some sort of lip balm. Creighton University isn't even a approved site to provide the CCEMTP -
This is a positive and negative review (caveat I have NOT downloaded the product - just a overview review) Ok, the obligate ad question - you should have first messaged admin that you were looking to advertise your app since that's what you were supposed to do. ok, that being said, it looks promising but I don't have a dog or pony in this race so I'm not going to spend 3 bucks to download an app that I dont' need but it looks fresh, looks like it would be useful for those studying for the national registry. I would hope one thing that you did not just take a bank of test questions and copy and paste them into your app and say "Hey here's my app and pay me 3 bucks for using someone else's work even though I put it in an app" If you did just copy and paste, I'm hoping that their lawyers don't get wind of it. (hint -remember the copyright lawsuit that EMTCity was faced with way back when?) But if you actually wrote the questions, then Good on ya and way to go to take initiative and provide new questions to an already huge pool of questions out there. I know that looking on line I can find several test banks of questions but they aren't in a Iphone/ipad/Ipod version and that's cool. I know that I myself would much rather have a book version of test questions but many times I found myself when studying for my Project management test (way way way worse than paramedic in my opinion) that I wished that I had a Android version where I could just sit in a restaurant or coffee shop and go through tons of questions all in one sitting and guage my progress. That's what I like about this app. I'm sure others have a completely different opinion of this app though. I do wish you the best of luck in your sales EpicMedic

might be feeling the burnout
Just Plain Ruff replied to emtlady's topic in Burnout, Stress, & Health
I have already said in this thread, identifying that you have a problem is the first step. Working to deal with it is the next step. Just changing shifts may not be the answer but it might be the catalyst that starts the change you need or maybe not. That will depend on if you make other changes as well. Just changing shifts and not making core changes in work life balance will just make you pissed off at a new partner and the same patients. -
That's like saying "I'm only an emt" Or I'm only a CNA or the big one "I'm only an ambulance driver" You take ownership of what you do and you have to do it the best of you ability. To do any less is insulting the people you work for and with.

You have to prove that it will absolutely offend your religious beliefs to not hire any of those groups. But then again, VENT, I'm just feeding a troll so I'm done. -

I thought that religious discussions were verboten here? But the only thing I think the SCOTUS decided was that when a company is held (owned) by a few people (hence) hobby lobby, the Greens, that their beliefs translate to the company. That's my understanding. The SCOTUS did not say that a corporation owned by hundreds of shareholders falls under that same umbrella. And Yes to your question, if a company is owned by a few muslim men and they choose to say that it is their religious beliefs that all women who work for them wear the hijab, then I would expect the supreme court to uphold that belief as well, as long as that group of muslim men could prove that it would be detrimental to their religious beliefs to not do so, I would be in support of that. I have long said that we are going down a slippery slope that we might not want to go down, that what happens to christians may come back to bite them in the ass. Seriously, I'm a christian, I hate the fact that babies are aborted every day, I don't like the fact that I pay with my health insurance dollars at my company I work for, for women who I work with to go out and get those medications for free, but I know that abortion is legal and that honestly I cannot do anything about that woman doing what she is going to do, do I like it, hell no, but I can't do anything about it. Sad but true. I say if you don't like the fact that Hobby lobby won't pay for those 4 items, don't work for em, you know that they don't pay for it, you know they don't pay for it. If you do work for them and you know their stance, don't bitch and moan about them not paying for it if you want it. Go out and pay for it yourself. People need to take some gosh darn responsibility and gumption and not expect that other people are going to pay for everything that you refuse to pay for yourself. Everything in life isn't free or discounted. I'm struggling mightily this year financially yet I'm not going on any form of public assistance but I could qualify for some aid. I was raised to fix things myself rather than beg for help or expect it to be given to me. I'm having a bad day at work and my sugar's a little low so I might be a bit incoherent but many of my friends here get what I'm saying. And for the Sandra flukes out there, stop whining. And Ventmedic, er I mean Ihatelilpeepees, you will get no sympathy from me, go try to start shit elsewhere. -
I've known a few from Cowley county in my day. I hail from the KC/Henry county/Bates County area. I think I've even worked with a few Cowley county crew members off and on over the past many many moons. I know I've been in a refresher course or two out of Springfield MO with at least one Cowley county crew member. Jump right in the water's fine.

I can paint those white ambulances for $99.99 and then slap a couple of decals on them for an additional charge. Make em look real purdy. But then again, welcome to the city Alan.

Wait a second, that's my EKG, where did you get that from?

Plus many of the medics I know will never hesitate to stick a needle in a arm and push a pain med. It's what they live for.

Yeah Mike, but since she's not banned she's giving out incorrect information and we are just giving correct information. Until she's banned we are just providing correct information. -

Hatelilpeepees, first off please get the ruling correctly. If you choose to come here to start a political argument please do it correctly and have your facts straight and not to start a political argument just for facts. You can in fact have hobby lobby pay for your birth control, just not the items that HL considers to be the items that kill babies. Again, please get your facts straight first before trying to incite a fight here. And the Supreme court ruled that it's not every corporation just the corporations that are owned by a close group of people. So IBM, HP, Home Depot, Lowes, WalMart, Cisco and thousands of other corporations still have to cover those forms of contraception. But a company that is owned by a small number of people like Hobby Lobby are exempt. Do You really want to go there???? -
I don't think that childbirth is in your future my friend. I know of no EMT student who has gotten to witness one of those unless they were on the ambulance on the call. It's pretty cool though. So hope you do. What you will probably get is 48 hours of ER time and 48 hours of ambulance ride time. Maybe more. But then again, I've been out of class for a while so I don't know what emt students currently get. but learn, learn learn and soak it all up. You begin a lifelong learning journey.

My thought would be why don't you call the London EMS service and ask them. I'm sure you could get the number easily. You might have to call at an odd hour though.
