Or I believe that there are things that you can place behind your saddle on the horses that would fit larger items like a AED. So what venues are you using your horse on?

I would first start with your paper you wrote way back when, take a look at the sources you used and then go out and see if those sources have been updated... Holy crap Mikey, I remember those cots. I can count on one hand the number of times my back got thrown out before we went to the one man cot version. Having one do the heavy lifting for you was the first thing myself and my EMS Supervisor put the ink on purchasing for all 3 trucks after we got the title and approval to purchase items. Dropped our injury rate from lifting patients by 60% all in just purchasing three new cots and a spare.

And I can also say that my days in a urban environment(KC MO and Independence mo) that I did restrain more patients than I have ever restrained when working in a very rural domain. It seems that the urban environment brings these types of people out. And dammit, if they swing at me, or swing at my partner, you can bet they are going to get restrained, no exceptions. I won't allow them into my ambulance without restraints. But I have been doing this nigh on 20 years and I think that it's all in how you approach the subject. I will offer only a cursory defence for these dipshits - they didn't know how to take care of a patient with a trach!!!!! I'm sure that is the underlying reason why they taped the trach. I've had this discussion on another site. Remember who watches TLC - that is who they are catering to. Remember that the other shows on TLC include Here comes Honey boo boo and other garbage Most patients will not identiffy themselves as the ones who are being showcased on this "true to life" show and my bet is that they would be honored to be on this show - since they would be able to say "I was on a reality show". Finally, the most recent ratings numbers that I can come up with for this show is that less than 1 million people have watched this on given week and consider that that number is actually extrapolated out so really in the nielsons, that means that 1% of their raters watched the show and the nielssons just extrapolate the numbers. Here's the deal - we have many in our ranks who are arrested for child porn, for other things and also have yahoo's who drive like idiots and then kill people. We have enough people in our ranks that make us look bad that we are doing an ok job ourselves. The news shows on the local channels have a higher viewership than this show will ever have and they show us at our worst. So we need to settle down and not worry about this show. Just exercise your GOD given right and talent and click up or down on the remote control when you come this garbage. If you really want to make a difference, contact the advertisers who advertise on this show and tell them you won't buy their products anymore. That is more effective than ranting and raving about this on this forum.

Yeah I remember cleaning EOA's and Nasal and oral airways for re-use. Some really nasty stuff came out of peoples bodies. Worst times were when you ran the codes at a chili supper.
