  1. I agree. I passed after 72 questions. My friend who was there also taking the test failed at 120.
  2. Im done talking in this forum. Im making myself look like an idiot.
  3. Have you ever seen the movie "patch adams"? It is related to the class i took. As I said he wanted us to really get involved with our patients and really find out whats going on and figure out the best way to help them. Sorry he sounds like a crap instructor...maybe you should meet him.
  4. I had 6 fantastic intructors. The lead instructor wanted us to not be like this "generation" of EMT-Bs that slack off (get lazy), he wanted us to really put alot into assessing and treating our patients, and I think thats the way EMT classes should be taught. He only had one mandatory class, and it was to watch "patch adams". And I think that the age in which people can be certified as EMT-B and up should be 18. Not saying 16-17 cant do it but Its just the way it should be I think. Oh your 16 and you have a card that saves you can do CPR and re-align broken bones and make major decisions. Its a little much for a 16 year old. Plus there diffrent types of 16-17 year olds, you got the ones that are serious and the ones that just cant go through a day without slapping another guys butt or tapping someone out. :? ya know what i mean? And trust me my instructors did care about the treatment of our future patients. And your right a plaque on the wall doesnt prove it but in my opinion I have seen shit instructors and ones that really wanted us to be taught well. I know what ya mean.
  5. very good point. It does make alot of sense. Its a diffrent way of looking at it. I was taught well, I had an instuctor who had won the best instructor in the state award a few years in a row and did last year as well. Regardless I still dont feel ready to handle a pt by myself. I mean with the fire department I run with, they let me take charge but I always have those experience guys behind me making sure I dont trip up.
  6. good point JPINFV I was thinking the same exact thing afterwards. Experience will bring better habits, quicker too.
  7. nononono I was done arguing with you. I just gave up I was literally asking a un-anger-driven question. I was and have been done arguing with you. Sorry if i made it sound that way. Im kinda discussing pros and cons of young people in EMS. Sorry if it was miss-interpreted. Its just a have asked alot of experience people whether 16 is really old enough to do this stuff and they all have diffrent opinions. So i was throwing that question out there, sense we are kinda on the subject Cause I've seen 16-17 year old kids trying to become EMTs and they are WAY too immature for it and at the same time I see 30-40 year old men who dont take it seriously at all (the learning part that is).
  8. Yes sorry sir. I must have done something right. I was taught by an instructor who has won the award for best intructor in the state a few times, I learned from him, Earned my certification, and apply it. Does age really matter though? Isn't the only thing that matters is that you give your patients the best treatment that you can? So whether your 17 or 99 does it really matter? How is an EMT with 30 years of experience's treatment any different from someone with 1 year? Treatment is the same right? Both had to do the same thing to earn a the patch. So how is young people in EMS so bad? How does it harm the EMS system? Provide the best care you can. So whether im 17 or 99 doesn't really make a difference as far as treatment goes. So why are young people in EMS such a burden?
  9. Neither am I. And they are the same statement, I took it from what you said. "Meh... high school EMS is for fat kids and dorks" <---you "HIGHSCHOOL EMS IS FOR FAT KIDS AND DORKS" <--- Me That looks about the same.....xcept the capital letters. And the space between High and School. Where is the difference? Wait. So if those aren't the same. Then your INSISTING that all fat kids and dorks start taking EMT classes? Sorry. The whole reason I took an EMT class is to just look cool i guess. I didn't do it for the fire department or anything like that. Your definitely right. I guess alot of people at my fire department Lie then. Sorry again for a good portion of my fire department and myself for being sinners.
  10. LMAO!!!!! WOW! They put a collar on him....and Dragged him onto the backboard totally incorrectly. Not only that but they probably should have used a KED, he didnt look banged up at all. Was he re-adjusting the collar after he was on the backboard?
  11. Wow you make me laugh. You said "HIGHSCHOOL EMS IS FOR FAT KIDS AND DORKS" You were directing it toward "HIGHSCHOOL EMS" So yes you did direct and you still insist on trying to insult me and other young men and woman who are trying to help out their community. Don't you have something better to do then insult people on what they want to pursue in life? This is a "students" forum. I thought it was for helping students out and ENCOURAGING them to do better....I guess your not very good at encouraging people. Sense your god and all. So sorry sir, sense your older and obviously much much much more intelligent then I, I will bow down to ye. So sorry for being a fat dork. I never realized how much of a loser I was for joining a volunteer fire department and taking an EMT class....I wont say anything else. Obviously my word isn't any good here because of my age.
  12. I took that same kind of class. Mondays and thursdays 6-10pm and every other saturday 8am-4pm. $550. It was a very short and excellerated class.
  13. Thats what i meant.....
  14. quote="Dustdevil"]Meh... high school EMS is for fat kids and dorks, neither of whom have prospects for any kind of social life. IM IN HIGHSCHOOL AND I AM ENVOLVED IN EMS. So that does apply to me. And you just called me a dork....lol.....how old are you again? Everyone here is disagreeing with you. You'd think you would get the picture and just say sorry cause you are totally wrong.
