  1. I will look into the classifieds problem. I think by turning off reps for sponsors will give the impression that they are not responsible for their content. If you find the site loading different, refresh the screen or clear your cache. I have to add the chat bar back to the bottom.
  2. Hello there, Here are a few of the new features with software update. 1. Ability to see who gave reputation points (Sponsoring members only can use this) 2. Ability to share a topic directly to your facebook or twitter account. 3. Better linking of your facebook and EMT City login. Things I am still getting the bugs out of: 1. Status update on home page. Once this is working, you will be able to comment on members status. 2. Blogs.... 3. Facebook and Twitter autoconnect so you can log in using your twitter or facebook account. If you find anything else that does not work, or if you find a hidden feature, please post it here.
  3. Although I cannot comment on the case in hand as I have not received any documents or notificaton related to it, I will speak to how sites like this are protected. A forum is a an interactive computer service, much like YouTube and blog hosting sites. As such, we are covered under Section 230 c "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider." The site user is responsible for the content they publish, not the site owner unless the site owner publishes it or does not take action when alerted to copyrighted material. With that being said, it is against the site rules to post any copyrighted material here. To post a link to an article is ok, to cut and paste the whole article most likely is not. To cut and paste a relevant portion of the article for discussion may be OK under the fair use act, but these days I wouldn't do it. Those that post whole articles may be fair game to this type of legal action even if it has a link back and credits the articles owner. Admin
  4. It is better to add to old threads with relevant information than to start a new one. It is OK to to do so.
  5. Unless posts are locked, members can add more information. If there are problems with the content of posts, hit the report button.
  6. I should have the ability to list a random item on the home page shortly. This will allow your listing to gain greater exposure.
  7. Thank you for the suggestion. I will keep that in mind as we continue to improve the site. Admin
  8. Try it now. I also changed it to allow elite members to post ads.
  9. The Classifieds Area http://www.emtcity.com/index.php/classifieds/ has now opened up. Any member can view the listings, sponsoring members can post ads for free. As of right now, the only category set up is for Books. Please let me know what other type of ads you think would be appropriate here. To get the the classifieds area, click the link in the "Marketplace" tab. Enjoy!
  10. Google calendar will sync with your blackberry almost instantly. I use it all the time.
  11. Just did a "fix". those that are off, can you update your address (re-enter it)?
  12. OK.. looking for a fix.... You can keep putting your locations in to see if there are any other issues. Until then, I have this for you...
  13. OK... if you go to Google Maps, http://maps.google.com/, does it do the same thing? I believe it communicates with Google to get your coordinates based on address.
  14. FYI, the more people that put their location in, the more zoomed out the initial page is.
  15. Hello everyone, http://www.emtcity.com/index.php?app=membermap&module=membermap Use this feature to pin where you are. Be smart about it when you put your location in. I would suggest putting in the address of a business close to you and not your actual address. Let me know if there are bugs as this is the first version. To get back to the map, the link is under the MEMBERS header. Enjoy!
  16. I did, but you were gone. I stepped away from the computer. LOL
  17. It's rather simple, If the people on your EMT City friends list are online, you can chat with them one on one using the chat interface button below:
  18. Chat with people in your friends list one on one in real time. This feature is available to ALL users. To see who in your friends list is available, just look at the bottom right of your browser window. To manage your friends list, click this link http://www.emtcity.c...friends&do=list From there, you can remove people from your friends list by clicking the next to their name. If you want to add a friend, click the button below their name in the forums or in the member list. You can control how you accept friends in your control panel HERE. You can choose to automatically approve new friends or not. You can also set your status as offline by clicking the "Who's Online" bottom bar and then click "Go Offline".' I hope you find this new feature useful. If you do, consider becoming a sponsor which will get you access to the group chat room and will remove all the site ads. Admin
  19. Just wanted to pass on a little tool I use with Firefox (it can be used with IE). It is called xmarks. It stores your bookmarks so if you computer crashes, you can restore them. It also works great if you work on more than one computer as you can sync all your bookmarks across all computers. Save a bookmark at work, and it will be put on your laptop at home. You can also access your bookmarks via web browser if you are not at you own computer. It is free, and has saved me a few times with computer crashes. http://www.xmarks.com
  20. There used to be a popular page on this site that would allow you listen to radio traffic from all over the world. I am actually working to get it going again. I received a lot of emails asking where it went.
  21. I am keeping an eye on this thread. If this turns into an ALS vs BLS bash fest, I will close it.
  22. You should have received a tracking number to the email address you use with paypal when they were shipped.
  23. I set up a page that you can play with to see how much time is really saved by exceeding the speed limit. http://www.emtcity.com/index.php/page/speed
