  1. Preparing to deliver Christmas hampers for the food bank. http://t.co/8R7u6Ga1

  2. Tip of the Day: The first signs of frostbite are redness or pain on the skin. White or grayish-yellow skin,... http://t.co/tpJ7OHId

  3. What I really wonder is what tool was used to cut the car. Look at that C-post. No jagged edge from a reciprocating saw, no friction burns from a circular saw, no crushing from scissor cutters......I'm perplexed because that is a really nice cut.
  4. Seems to me there was a thread some time back that involved a discussion regarding EMTs working as medical staff at schools, either alongside a nurse or instead of. I am assuming this is what the OP is talking about.
  5. Thanks guys. We were recently issued new glucometers by our health region that included the reloadable pen device. I challenged them on the use of the devices because the standard of practice has prohibited their use for almost a decade. They haven't responded, but I refuse to use them.
  6. In Memory of Roland Webb, Paramedic. http://t.co/vXc3bWRt

  7. Unit 1683 is conducting an interfacility transfer to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon

  8. Who made it right? Certainly not the organisations actually responsible for those morons.
  9. Don’t forget your SPF. You can still get sunburn in the winter, especially when the sun reflects off the snow.

  10. I just stumbled across some information and thought I'd check with you folks. What procedure do you follow when using a lancet to acquire a capillary blood sample? Do you have single use disposable devices or do you have the reloadable pen style?
  11. One of my medics and I got called out at 0530 this morning for a code. Fortunately for her the guy had been down for hours. She was some seriously messed up, dizzy, nausea, pale. Learned her lesson. She won't take the stuff again unless she's assured and uninterrupted sleep.
  12. Okay, so how did you deduce which province he's located in? I've read his posts over twice and looked through his profile and I still can't figure it out. That's why I never bothered responding.
  13. Wind Chill warning 2nite. Exposed skin freezes in 10 mins. Temps below -40. Bundle up, take extra clothes when traveling in case you need em

  14. Unit 1683 is conducting an emergency response in Kelvington.

  15. Welcome to the City Nancy. Umm, have you spoken to your 911 centre lately? I know that many actually monitor a twitter and facebook account. In fact, we've even been dispatched because of messages on social media. Besides, if you can't talk you can still call 911 and leave the line open, someone will be sent to check it out.
  16. Exactly, I used to have an IQ in the 150s...now look at me.
  17. I'll put 500 bucks toward buying that poor woman a new car along with an apology on behalf of all the medics I know for the incompetence of the paramedic who couldn't remove the patients without cutting the car apart.
  18. Is suicide an illegal act where you are? I ask because here it is not. A person has the right to take his/her own life and can not be incarcerated for an unsuccessful attempt. In other words, if we force a suicidal person to the hospital, it's kidnapping and forcible confinement.
  19. Sorry Craig, I can't go with your analogy. There are laws prohibiting such sexual assaults. There is no such thing as implied consent for sexual relations. However, there is no law (here) regarding video taping on a public street and the courts have already set the precedent that an individual in a public place can not have expectation of privacy. They can be photographed and video taped and those images can be published online without their consent. The legal challenges on Google streetview are a good example.
  20. Yes, I did, something like 10 years ago when it first came out. I could do it then and I still can, so, it is yet another load of crap spew circulating around the internet that someone just HAS to spew on to others. I can also pat my head and rub my tummy...or rub my tummy and pat my head. Fortunately, when I get crap that proclaims how I have to pass it on or the world will end, or some such other drivel, I save my friends the trouble of filling their inboxs . Perhaps we can get admin to include a new forum titled "Random Internet Garbage/Drivel/Tripe" for stuff like this to go into.
  21. Sigh, please don't let this quality professional communications forum degrade to something akin to Facebook.
  22. Safety Tip: Cast iron radiators can get very hot when the thermostat is raised. Investing in a cover can prevent burns to children and pets.

  23. Thanks Chris.
  24. Or grab 5 bucks, give it to a kid and tell him to jump up an down in front of the camera until we get the patient into the ambulance.
  25. I would do nothing to help the videographer and I would do nothing to hinder. I would do my job regarding patient care. If the videographer does something to interfere with my patient care, then I will take action. Simply put, if they aren't a part of my scene they aren't worth my attention and they aren't my responsibility. I would dignify my patient to the best of my ability, just as I would if the guy watching us didn't have a camera, but I'm not going to let a camera get me bent outta shape. It's the 21st century folks, 9 out of 10 people on the street have a video camera and 9 out of 10 buildings have video surveillance. We can't account for all the cameras.
