  1. Cool, what do you use the helmet for?
  2. He has his own collector card.
  3. Strapping to the backboard is something that I have never had to do, and likely never will. Just adding 3 more straps to the cot and soft restraints is usually sufficient for me. I will throw in chemical restraints if the patient continually worms his way out of the soft restraints. I don't like to use hard cuffs if I can avoid it, although they have been used thrice in my career with LEO with us.
  4. Err, Richard, you do realise the article is satirical, don't you?
  5. Bet they don't call the bus company for the schedule when they get chest pain.
  6. Do they even have room to secure a spineboard in a bus? Who buys his ticket? Is it round trip or one way?
  7. Oh, so it's a radio report. Shoulda said that in the first place.
  8. Okay, seriously, WTF is a HEAR?
  9. Meh, with the overtime I paid out, I actually lost money on it. The alternative was to put him into a police cell for the night and send him out to one of the closer centres in the morning...during regular hours which don't get overtime paid. It's all about putting the patient before the money though.

  11. Condolences to you and your wife Justin.
  12. Ugh. Speaking of which, took a patient into local ER last night and was doing paperwork when I heard the nurses lamenting over another patient they had in the building. Turns out this 30 something year old male with a history of substance and chemical abuse came to the hospital because he was having suicidal and violent thoughts. He didn't like where he was headed so came for help. The Doc tried to get him into 4 different facilities who all refused to take him. The furthest one was a 2.5 hour drive. The nurses were worried for this fellow because he was going to fall through the cracks and they didn't know what to do, so I asked them if they had tried the provincial psych hospital, 400kms away. Their expressions gave it away that they hadn't, so they called it up...sure enough, 9 hours later I was back in bed. Sigh.
  13. Stuff it with granola bars and juice boxes, that might be all you get to eat in a day.
  14. Unit 1683 is conducting an interfacility transfer to North Battleford Union Hospital.

  15. We only usually wait a couple of hours, but there have been times that we spent 4 hours at the hospital with our patient and did the entire consult in a hallway. If the patient needed x-rays or CT we've take them there, then back to the hallway. Once the consult was complete, back to our ambulance and return home.
  16. Just found this spO2 Monitor for the iphone on Amazon.
  17. At least no one died in this one. Maybe we need a new forum just for accidents.
  18. Rock on!!
  19. I would be surprised if they were still functioning, they went down there about 9 years ago. They are both Dodge vans, an '85 and a '90. Here's the news article. http://www.kelvingtonmhs.ca/news/east-central-connection_may-2003.php I got a message of thanks from Monserrat because theirs arrived just before the volcano eruption in 2003. I was told it was worth its weight in gold.
  20. Welcome to the City, if you ever make it over to St. Lucia or Monserrat, check in on my old ambulances for me.
  21. Naw, no one started a thread about it because no one cares.
  22. We also have levophed (norepinephrine) as an option for sepsis, and it's my preference over Dopamine because of the MOA.
  23. I think if you read his most recent posts you might get confirmation. Since this is his first post in almost 4 years on this forum we can count ourselves lucky.
  24. This is good for a giggle. Read the other "Headlines" too. http://www.theglobaledition.com/drone-pilot-ejects-from-office-chair/
