  1. About time someone asked. http://www.emtcity.com/user/46271-flint/ I was looking in my profile the other day when i hit the view new posts/content button and saw a list of new members instead. Flint is a new member and took the time to upload a profile picture, so I figured that if she went to the trouble of doing a picture she'd post in the meet and greet. Just for fun I thought I'd beat her to the punch, I must admit, I'm a little disappointed that she hasn't posted yet.
  2. Oh, I understand the comment, but it's just picking a fight if one doesn't know how the recipient of the comment will take it. There must be a few hard core EMS lovers in Jersey, no?
  3. It was never available to us since the inception of ALS in the province.
  4. Oh Mike. Sigh. Welcome to the City. Feel free to join in any forums which interest you, or start one of your own.
  5. Doesn't matter where it's from, it'll be strictly tested to determine if it's safe. Besides, if Iran can develop this technology, why can't an American company?
  6. Was she drinking Red Bull and Vodka? I've seen that crap put more kids into seizures than I can count. I can count pretty high.
  7. This will be nice when it's approved. Saliva Glucose Monitor
  8. damn life, dontcha wish we could just get rid of it sometimes? If I see him I'll let him know you've been missing him. That'll make his month.
  9. I believe he's back in the Jungle, so access will be intermittent for him. He was just here a couple days ago...where the hell you been?

    Well geez guys

First New Year kiss is mine!!! After the puppy dog that is.
  11. I had heard that the turning radius would take a pretty big hit, but had hopes the longer wheelbase and larger tires would result in a better ride.
  12. Hmm, must be an aftermarket add on. Do you know who did it? AWD is one reason I was looking at a Type I conversion.
  13. That might explain why there were three people in the bed.
  14. No, the vans aren't AWD, 2 are Type IIIs like yours, the other is a Type II. The truck will likely be a 4WD though.
  15. I've had good luck with them so far, we're on our third. One needed the engine replaced, but it was under warranty, fortunately. I'm considering a truck chassis for the remount though, our current ones are all vans.
  16. Meh, not really my cup of tea though. I prefer Fords.
  17. Welcome to the City, hope you enjoy your visit and stay around for a while. If you see a topic that interests you feel free to join in, or create one of your own. Good thing Dwayne isn't around...he'd make some offhand comment about the incredible number of new members we've been getting the last few weeks relating to their gender and relative temperature.
  18. Bwaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaahaaaaaa No wonder you have such a deviant mind....SCAT 1? Really? Reading your posts today and seeing that ambulance designation kinda puts some perspective on things.
  19. Out of service means the time the vehicle is occpied during the call. aka Time on Task. We have similar services here, they only do 911 calls to the nearest hospital, then another ambulance does the transfer. It would really depend on the harm done to the patient. Using my area as an example, any drug overdose gets transported out for treatment because our lab doesn't have the capability of determining tox levels, so, with the exception of charcoal which we can do no treatment is done here. Any substantial physical trauma is no different, they get stabilised here, then sent out. Don't get me wrong, if your local ER can do more than you can in the back of the ambulance to stabilise the patient, then take them in. However, if they've harmed themselves to the extent that they can't make it to a centre capable of treating psych patients, then your medical staff is doing a disservice to your patient by not requiring a psych assessment. You're quite welcome.
  20. Yeah, to live through another year.
  21. Then, with all lack of respect, they are crap superiors if they think that is all your job description entails. The long term outcome for your patient is directly determined by the care you provide as the first medical provider in their chain of care. Treatments you provide can reduce or extend hospital stays. Long term care, including psych is most definitely your concern. You have my sympathy.
  22. Not starting off so well for me....sigh
  23. Okay, this is gonna need much more detail. How did you end up in bed with your patient? How did he get from the wheelchair to the bed Why did he go from the wheelchair to the bed, and not to your cot? Where was your partner? Other side of the bed getting peed on?
  24. Who says you can't? You are supposed to transport the client to the nearest appropriate medical facility, are you not? If this is a psych issue and the doc agrees, then just take him there. Sure, your company might get some heat for it from the local medical staff, but they aren't psychologists now are they? So long as you document, document, and get the psych doc to sign off on the arrangement, you're golden.
