  1. Unit 1471 is conducting an emergency response North of Lintlaw.

  2. He's a sword swallower and it slipped, perforating the stomach? No, no, that would just make him belch his own farts....hmmm....explains the pericarditis though.
  3. It wasn't the ambulance that rolled, it was the fire apparatus.
  4. Post Medal Ceremony with June Draude, MLA Wadena-Kelvington constituency. http://t.co/ExnxlEMM

  5. Hmmm, no other surgical history....specifically something that would leave a scar in the belly button and lead to pericarditis?
  6. Seriously? Your city actually made an agreement to have a restaurant feed city employees for free during extended assignments? Free? Absolutely free? Not just run up a tab and bill the city, but free? That's crazy.
  7. Thanks Chris....I thought that this was the only one that mattered.
  8. Glad you're still with us.
  9. Because of the pericarditis.
  10. Perhaps this patient is fully cognizant that refusing dialysis will eventually be fatal and has decided that he wants to leave this world on his terms. Since medically assisted suicide is not permitted in the States, he has decided to refuse further treatment.
  11. Always a pleasure.
  12. That's why I think it's BS. Scenario; Cop: Hey, here's his cell phone, I wonder if he was texting and driving.....hmmm....wonder if he has a hot girlfriend...... hmmm...no pics.....any videos?.......Hey!!! What's this!!!??? Damn...hmmm, hey, Mr. Paramedic, C'mere. Looky what I found on this phone...do me a favour m'kay? If anyone asks, you had the phone and you stumbled across this video when you were looking for some patient info...m'kay? So, being civic minded you told me about the video...but I'm not allowed to look at it without a warrant....so, based on your information I am going to apply for a warrant to look at the phone. mmmmm'kay?
  13. Uh huh. The Paramedic accidentally stumbled across the video when he was looking for patient identity? I call BS.
  14. Already a current discussion...
  15. Shrug, I just ended up putting Samsung phones into my ambulances and track them with the Samsung Dive website.
  16. Pericarditis. There, done, thanks for the great scenario.
  17. It's still in the courts, once all the legal crap is exhausted I'll fill you in. what it boils down to is legal jurisdiction and who actually has the right to decide.
  18. Hmm, I've seen fire truck drivers walk into a burning house to get the beer out of the fridge, but I've never taken anything from a scene that I can recall. However, many times we will transport a patient and their relative, who would sit up front with the driver. On rare occasions the NOK will come home with us, and knowing he or she likely hasn't eaten for several hours we'll offer to take them through a drive through for dinner. Very often they'll offer to buy us coffee and we refuse the first time but tend to accept in the end because the restaurant we'll go through will be one that has been known to give free coffee to Paramedics in the ambulance. NOK feels good because he or she THINKS our coffee was paid for, we feel good because it didn't cost NOK a cent.
  19. Thanks KS, I appreciate the info for clarity. You're in a similar situation as I. We have a community that is on the border between my ALS service and a BLS service. Typically the BLS service responds, but the community has requested that my ALS service respond instead. It's been in the courts for months. Now that I have a fair understanding of your situation I go back to my original post. Who is to blame? The System.
  20. My Lifepak cabinets were designed to either mount on the wall and screw into the studs....or it coud also fit into the wall so it was mounted flush with the face of the wall, between studs. Unfortunately, I can't help you much with local building code at all. My suggestion would be to: Contact the manufacturer for the instructions Contact the city to determine what codes are applicable. (likely none because it does not affect the structure of the building.
  21. ummm...the entire reason he's going for a psych evaluation is to determine his competency and if he should be committed, Until that evaluation is complete he retains the right to refuse. Doctor's orders or not, he can not be forced to go.
  22. Yeah, but Gray's Anatomy indicates that the valves do not prevent regurgitation of the blood. http://education.yahoo.com/reference/gray/subjects/subject/168
  23. What is the educational comparison for a fire truck driver compared to a paramedic? Every fire college I'm aware of lasts 2 semesters, Sept to June and includes a PCP course.
  24. What does that other ambulance service offer that yours can't? Out here the caller doesn't get the choice which service responds...our territory, our call.
