LP 15 without 12 Lead capabilities?
Arctickat replied to DwayneEMTP's topic in General EMS Discussion
Triemal is right, I believe there is a setting to adjust the LP12 so that it always functions in diagnostic mode. I couldn't remember for sure so I was gonna take a look at it later and send you some instructions. It involves accessing the maintenance menu though and if someone has changed the combination, you're screwed. -
Yeah, but can you imagine being the kid that showed up to the toboggan hill with that? BTW, it is antique, it's from the '80s, when you had to get your pants changed three times a day. Edit Correction, I just checked your profile. You weren't even a gleam in your mother's eye yet when these things were around. When did I get soooo old.

Nine American teams from different American military bases all over the world competed. There, fixed that for ya Newsbot.

LP 15 without 12 Lead capabilities?
Arctickat replied to DwayneEMTP's topic in General EMS Discussion
Damn, Dwayne. I wish I had a copy of the ECG I had taken a week or so ago. To answer your question, you can't use a non-diagnostic mode to determine ST elevation. All you can identify is rate and rhythm. I'll check through my LP12 archives, I might be able to print off a summary of the call. -
It was pointed out to me that I do nit pick corrections of people when they talk, sometimes not even to me. Things that just really didn't matter and it pissed people off. Sometimes I still catch myself doing it. What has worked for me is to just slow down a little and engage my brain before speaking. The reason we didn't realise that were do those things is because we are not paying attention to ourselves. Simply thinking about how what we say will be perceived by others will go a long way toward fixing the problem.

Meh, why bother. You're in a situation that mandates that you use what you get. It's not really like you get a choice in the matter now is it?

Amsterdam, NY back in 2002. They used a combination of Gasoline, Kerosene, and Diesel fuel as an accelerant, then let it sit for something like 45 minutes before throwing a lit flare into the building. There were 5 injured, one was a broken leg, not sure of the others.

Remember this little gem? 1:58 mark.

Ummm...Richard....It's two stories about the same guy.

On the attached image, the red circle surrounds the area that can be removed from the chamber. ooooh, that takes me waaaay back. I remember when they were the hot new thing. I never had much problem with the Introcan, less than I thought I would. One just has to be sure that the forefinger advances the cath beyond the tip of the trocar to engage the safety mechanism rather than pull the cath out.

It is. Welcome to the City, feel free to jump into any conversation that interests you, or start one of your own.

What do you mean by punching them with a pen? One can just twist off the top of the chamber then recap it. When the cap is replaced a couple of drops of blood come out the end of the trocar.
-
We've got the Introcan Safety caths, not the "3"s To get BGL samples we can use the flash chamber which looks identical to the one you have pictured here. As to drawing a blood sample, I couldn't tell ya.

Did the train driver have the flashing lights and sirens turned on? Was it warranted? Did the train have the green or the red light at the intersection? This story leaves out way too much information.

What was a car doing in the woods? Maybe I should go read the article.

Oh, a big +1. I was gonna point out that it was a joke to her, but then I figured she was just making a funny. Now it's even better that she can't try to cover it as humour. giggle.

Actually, one only has to remove oneself from the gene pool. If his/her actions prevent the ability to reproduce, it qualifies.

Holy. that looks way cool!!!!
-
Yeah yeah, I know it's been said...but since I made such an awesome post i just wanna add....Every single one of your patients should have at least one manual BP taken. My preference is to make it the first set of vital signs checked. Use the automatic NIBP after that all you want, but if you get a suddenly whacked out reading that just doesn't fit...such as a change from 132/87 to 223/196...or down to 93/72 in a matter of 10 minutes...use the ears to confirm. Far, far, far too many medical staff have mistreated a condition that didn't actually exist simply because of the NIBP reading.
