With all due respect Spenac, my opinion is not "wrong" as it is MY opinion. I do not know Crotchity at all, maybe you do...that is all good and well, but remember that everyone was replying to his thread regarding ambulance accidents...how it became a "Crotchity slam-fest" I had no idea. That was where I felt the desire to post my opinion. Regardless, this topic is not about him. I was merely giving my opinion on what I saw while reading the 'opinions' from each of the posts including the ones that included supposed 'fact-based' links.

Ya know.... ((pausing)) I was reading the posted replies and what came to mind after reading one after the other was "DANG! Why are these people slamming Crotchity just for voicing his opinion. He really is allowed to voice his 'opinion'. I don't remember seeing him write "And this is FACT..." His thread is not under the educational area. All of the slams just seemed, from an outsiders point of view, just plain mean. There is no sense in it. At least his replies to each of you were well versed and respectful. Maybe some of you know him on a personal level or are just prone to slinging mud, but from someone that probably doesn't know any of you it appears that some of you have a very hateful spirit. Please let people have their opinions. If you're here to teach then please teach with a kind mindset... Others will be much more willing to learn from you and will retain what you have shared because they will have appreciated HOW they were taught. This is my opinion...

WOW. I have been in the medical field for just "a few years", but have never been asked "How fast can this thing go?", nor have I been asked to speed up. Maybe because I am going the 15 mph over the limit that is allotted to EMS while driving code 3. I do stop, or at least slow way down. I have yet to have an accident yet have been told that my day will come. I still insist that I will not be the one at fault. ((fingers crossed))

That's what I thought..... You said "The owner told the lady (that hit the ambulance) "No harm". He, at that point, took resposibility for the scene. Not to worry. You are not at fault from what you say....nor do you have to pay anything if what you said was fact based. The "Lady" can be your witness. Don't stress it. You can always mention, if he threatens you in any way, that you will call the local news. Don't be intimidated. Again...he asumed responsibility when he, as the "owner" said "No harm".

In reading some the replies from the original question, you'd think people forgot that the topic in this forum was "Funny Stuff". Ok...LOL :oops: I will admit that I have pee'd in the shower but ONLY in the privacy of my OWN shower and right before taking my shower knowing that the flow of clean water and soap would follow. So there. I just saved myself $ on my water bill by not having to flush my toilet. Hee hee Hey, it adds up over the years.

Where do you work as an EMT....private, city, or industrial? I ask that for a reason. Do you make many calls where you have to clear the scene quickly due to lack of coverage, or can you take 30 minutes to get pt info on scene? I personally am hyper, but obviously not THAT hyper because I'm 45 years old. <wink> I don't freak out on any call, not even with a child. Now, if you have a major trauma I would much rather be working with someone who is laid back yet QUICK at at their responsibilities with the pt. I don't think that "joking around at a trauma scene would be appropriate". That would tell me that you were not focused on the pts care. As far as working with someone that is a "spinner".as you say... Hmmmm Not good if you are implying that they are tense on evry run they make. I'd say if that's the case, they are insecure with their abilities on the job.

I am certainly not new to the medical feild as I was a medic in the US Army Reserves back in the '80's and now, since I had been out of the loop & missed the good feeling of helping others, well, now I am an "EMT"...and believe it or not...I am PROUD! LOL Come on ya'll....say it with me....."I am proud to be in the medical field!". OK...now I feel retarded but free. LOL <wink> Again, Thank you all for the warm & fuzzy welcome to the City! Eric, you must forgive me, I truly mean no disrespect when I tell you that I do not understand either of your posts regarding Yellow Ambulance. I believe the only differences between them and LMEMS is the pay, the fact that they are a private service and that they transport 'from' hospitals. If your idea was to push a "dig" on them, well I just can't agree with it. We are all in the same boat >> out trying to save some lives in our communities. Crotchity....once again, your words are welcomed. Thank you. Keep'em coming.

Thank you for the wise words my friend. Yes, I believe that all of LMEMS employees are being furloughed (sp-thx). I do have a true respect for the administration, but I have to admit that I am more concerned with not having the street coverage for our people in the Louisville area that need our assistance. Every single day we get short of ambulances and lo and behold we get dispatched to a run sometimes even a full arrest, clear across town...literally. We all know that things are going to be pretty rough for awhile... I just think it will be worse than what 'some' are thinking. I hope that because of the city's budget problems and the Mayor making EMS take manditory days off without pay will not compromise peoples health and safety.

Very recently, our lovely Mayor announced that due to the city's 20 million dollar deficit, he must find ways to correct his shortcomings...well after having "discussions" with the FOP, Firefighters, and the Teamsters union, he finally came up with demanding "4 non-paid furlow days" (furlow=layoff) for "non-essential" city government employees. Now, explain to me this...how is it that Police and Fire fighters are considered "essential", and yet EMS employees such as EMT'S and Paramedics which ALSO save lives, are considered "Non Essential" to public safety? During these furlow days, our city's coverage will be compromised. Now mind you, Louisville Metro EMS gets dispatched on approximately 100,000 runs each year. Non-Essential my ASS! Pardon me. :x

Before I started this job I actually thought I would LOSE weight. LOL Anyway...looking forward to getting to know some new friends from different states and services. Peace and safety to all.
