You know maybe you should but you will have to be consoled with at least one of you are getting some recognition. The point of getting Terri to post this for me was to recognize a person in EMS for all the work they did just to get the job. Its not often that that happens think of the carrier that could be achieved in other fields with less. Plus she is good looking so I knew the hounds would like it.

wish granted you wake up in the morning to find a flight medic in your bed. Sadly its a girl I wish ambulances had espresso machines in them

Try following the ALS rendezvous to town because you forgot the bag of meds from the patients house. I have to agree with Anthony slow down( but I envy you the first calls there a riot) focus on what you are doing to help your partner or the patient and the jitters fade. Oh yeah call from the hospital "what is p[sdkfjg ?" Learn to spell.

As long as you keep communicatinghe wont see how big the needle is

Boy your crabby right after your nap. But besides winding you up the direction of my statement is this, the young lady who started this thread is still a little wet behind the ears (sorry) and maybe the person mentoring her is trying to temper her instead of plunging her into the bucket right off to see if she cracks. And if she shows this much enthusiasm at 17 maybe she will go carrier and seek a paid (oh my god I said it) position. But I do applaud her enthusiasm most of the 17 yr old's I see are pretty useless. As far as your discussion with firemedic it's entertaining but not staying on target very well.

I think you need to be allowed to run calls but remember be careful what you wish for. There is a lot of really weird shit out their and you only have 17 years of life experience to give you a perspective on it. Its not a fault its just life. Be patient your mentor has your best interest at heart and you will see all that the world has to offer in due time.

CPAT no clue NWCG= National Wildfire Coordinating Group. They are a administrative body that is in charge of resources for major wildfire incidents including minimum standards per resource. So you know what you will get when you order it.

Discribe the 'biddle' test never heard of it

Just got done with the yearly pack test. Which is a fitness test for wildland fires. It consists of a 3 mile hike with a 45 # pack in 45 minutes or less. My knees are singing from the asphalt but managed to get my fat arce in on time. Question that I pose is do any of your out fits do anything similar. I understand that many of the people her are not fire based but still the work can be strenuous at times. I am of the belief that a stress test and EKG would be a better measure but the Pack test is recognized by NWCG so it is a standard.

I would start with anatomy and physiology first and master those as well as how different body processes work and worry about the rest when your ready for class. Oh ya learn how to spell all this medical stuff i suck at it.

NBC Announces 09-10 Line-up: See "Trauma"
joesph replied to WolfmanHarris's topic in General EMS Discussion
I wonder if they will have any situations were the victom has shit and puked all over themselves that will make for real prime time drama. As far as real lets look at history Rescue Me, Third Watch, Towering Inferno, Back Draft, ER. Yea I'm sure it will be real with all the patients wearing make up the lights all turn green when you want them and everyone getting more tail then they can handle. -
driving should be a taught skill just like EMT work. Do most of the operators know the braking distance on the particular piece of equipment they are driving and have they ever looked at the roll over potential of a box ambulance at higher speeds. a well planned driving course by a competent instructor is a good place to start and if people still feel lights and sirens is an excuse to endanger the public they are there to help put a governor on there rig. You can drive your POV any way you want but when you get in a company rig you drive by there rules or quit.

In parts of California and elsewhere in the west, states agency's are subsidizing volunteer organizations to update and improve there training in both fire and ems. I think this also hold's true in SAR. This is done by paying there volunteers for training time and working out compensation packages with employers to cover lost employees. We have implemented the beginning of that system here and will improve it as funding is made available.

maybe the first one stumbled over a Cheetos and the second was traumatized a browny

Well let see its normal for the conquering nation to enslave the losers its found threwout most of history. I think its still done today. What we did to Indians is a lot worse we put them on a reservation and took away there will to succeed. We used a incideous tool, welfare, sorry. White (mostly) Americans enslaved black people (mostly) and used them as personnel property. Sorry. What we did next was worse we kept them here and made them live in our country were they had to climb in (white) society. Sorry. We should have sent them back to there country of origin. Rome had some interesting concepts some of the peoples from every country they conquered eventual got citizenship. Unfortunately Jews and Christians also got to be cat chow and lamp ornaments. (they should say there sorry) So with all of this history to choose from if any conquered people feel victimized and still need some closer for something that was perpetuated by a person that is worm food by now I would sincerely like to apologize to them. And offer this bit of advice the best way to get even is to live well and out perform the bastards at there own game. Sincerely a native born Montanan

So has anyone used the CPAP system in EMS our medical director has opened up protocol to use it for COPD, CHF, asthma, ephazima in field. Disposable units run around 50 bucks but they are suppose to be O2 hogs. And the reusable systems are a lot better but run 1500 bucks. So is the system the whiz bang I have heard or just another nifty trinket.
-
Please post or PM and links to get a better handle on these systems reading the sellers info is obviously bias but I think I will recommend being patient till there is more info out there. I talked to a jarhead medic I know and he said it was the granuals that was the problem but his info could be dated he's been out for a year or so.
-
So is it the free granules of the WS that is the problem or the agent itself because I think the haemostaic that is usedis the same as in other products where they are controlled in a sponge or dressing with the (assumption)the granules are controlled there. Alot of the wilderness EMT's carry these and we have talked of implementing a similar product.

With the assumption that you are indeed going to let this guy go here are some recommendations. Have your loss and prevention people check to see if he can in fact be employed as a volunteer emt if not simply dismiss him on the grounds of health. If he fails to perform on a scene document and reprimand him three times. Then dismiss him. Be sure that you have a witness or make him sign the reprimand. And finally if these don't work for you write his job description to disclude him from any activity that may be detrimental to the organization. Make him a logistics officer it's a great cubby hole to get rid of a pest. Terminating a employee is a hard task that nobody likes but look to what is best for the organization and your customers. Oh yeah he can be dismissed he is a volunteer employee he doesnt get paid but he still is an employee. Good Luck
