I find it easier to just do the call than bitch at the pt. You end up doing it anyway, so what is the point of pissing them off? Our service has 3 distinct frequent fliers that use their serious medical conditions to find a ride to the hospital for different reasons. One is a straight up drug seeker, another signs out AMA and hits the streets to hook and the last cuts her cab fare in half when she has to return her daughter to the father.

I work for a non-profit town service. The town does not pay through tax dollars, but we do a subscription drive every year. Also, through billing (as little as that may be). One thing that holds us down is our service bears the town name and some residents do not realize that they are not paying through tax dollars.

I have c-spined someone that could not lie flat due to emphysema and we raised the head of the stretcher to a 45 degree angle, threaded the shoulder straps through the hand grips at the top of the board and tightened them. The pt was not going anywhere and we got props from the attending in the trauma room.

How about the rest home administrator in our town who has instructed his employees not to perform CPR on anyone. They could be the 40 y.o. psych patient or the 90 y.o. grandma. When they asked about him sending them to a class, he said why bother? You can't perform it anyway. Hm, as long as I am not working when they "can not obtain vitals on a pt."

Ummmm, I have had many patients that have needed lift assists. Whether the pt was heavy or the house was not condusive to extrication. The person below me know if their ambulance is governed or not..... :wink: mine aren't....
