  1. "Responders did not follow proper procedures in clearing her husbands airway" How does she know this, was she there? Is she in EMS? It is such a short blup about the incident, is there another piece with more information?
  2. Wasn't there already a thread about this? And didn't you start it? You are just going to have to do what you can until doors open for you. Good luck
  3. Oh that is just nasty. Is there any effort in becoming low class, or does it just happen?
  4. Brand new background on my computer. I LOVE IT! If it came down to it, I wouldn't hesitate to have the tattoos on my forearms removed. I love my tattoos, but they are not more important than ANYTHING else in my life. However, I would have to see first hand, and by personal experience, that they were the only reason why I did not get hired. I have also taken many steps into having a professional appearance in all aspects. Everything I do, I ask myself, could this affect me becoming a Paramedic? I took off the smart ass bumper sticker on my truck. I killed off my Myspace. I locked down my Facebook, and dropped anyone that wasn't friend or family. Dropped the stupid clubs and games on there. I had my (very) long hair cut, and am having the red taken out so that I can have a softer, "more natural" look. Every class I take, I make sure I stand out, and my teacher knows my name. Just on the off chance I may need them for any reason on a resume or as a reference. I have the card of a professional resume writter in my wallet, and I will be buying some nice pant suits for interviews next year. Even when I am driving I am way more aware of my speed and how I drive just because I know that any ticket will count against me. *edited to fix errors
  5. I wish you all the best. Take care
  6. I have small tattoos (about 2" maybe) on each forearm. Very beautiful work. No wording, nothing religious, political, etc. I do have full back pieces, chest pieces, and tattoos on my right leg, and tops of my feet. 95% of my ink will be covered by any standard issue uniform. And most of the time my ink is covered by clothing. I never did it for shock value or attention. I see it when I'm naked, and others see it, when I want them too. I cover them most of the time just to keep them protected. The colors are vibrant, and they were not cheap. I wont let the sun damage them! My forearms I have NO problems covering. I had planed on wearing long sleeves, even in the summer to protect my skin in general. I have some very nice quality undershirts, and long sleeve shirts that keep me cool on the hottest of days, and warmer in the winter. I am NOT at all worried about getting a job or not getting a job because of my ink (what little can be seen).
  7. Those people were idiots. I watched it on the local news. Some people even had their small children with them where the wave hit. Even after it hit, they went right back! *shakes head
  8. I have found that the only way I know I know a subject, is if I can explain it to someone else. I also write stuff over and over and over. I will write notes while reading, during lectures, labs, workbooks, etc. Then I find a poor soul like my husband or kids, and explain it to them. If I do it correctly, I know it has clicked! Good luck
  9. This Sacramento CL posting for an EMT position requires that you be 21 or older for insurance reasons. But, it does seem to leave an open door for someone under the age of 21.. If possible, take the time to get more of an education to add with your training. It will open so many more doors for you. Good luck. *edited for clarification
  10. So I wont be getting your address any time soon then?? lol
  11. If the original one is out there, can we just put him back into circulation? If not, I do not mind spending some money, getting a new(er) version of 'Fred' and starting again. Yeah, I wasn't here either. It just sounded fun, and my daughter wants to see pics of where people work with the animal there.. I think she is more excited then I am..lol
  12. If you did, I admit I didnt think to look to see it had been on here.
  13. I am thinking of stealing the idea from another board that I go on from time to time (non EMS). On there, they have a gnome that we 'pass along' to other members. It is so fun. He has been half way around the world, at peoples works, schools, in their homes, etc. They usually have him about a week, take some pictures, post an update, and pass him to who ever wants him next. Then that person does the same thing. There are pics of him in England drinking at a local pub, and then there are pics of him in San Francisco down at the Pier. I was talking to my daughter about how fun it would be if we could get something like that started on here. I will get something (like a stuffed animal..) and take some pics of him in my A&P class. Then, whoever wants him next, I will mail him to you. Maybe you can take some pics in an ambulance, or at the hospital, or wherever you feel like. Post his update, share some pics, and pass him to whoever wants him next. If anyone would be interested, let me know. If there is enough interest, I will go out, and get it started. Maybe I can find a way to get him a little EMT City shirt? With so many of us on here, and so many different walks of life, and spread all over the place, it can only be fun.

  23. I hope to be starting an intro to A&P class (crossing fingers since it is full). What do I need to help me with this class should I get lucky and get in? I have seen all kinds of nifty fun things like flash cards, coloring books, etc. I even accidently found out that there is a real A&P for Dummies book. I think I will start off with getting a small study group ASAP. I was wondering what some of you have found has really helped you during the class for retaining all that information, and for tests / quizzes. Thank you in advance
  24. How goes school
