A couple of things to assist you. 1. Get your insurer involved, find out what they need as far as "covered medical team" 2. Lawyer, get an ironclad permission slip. I would including wording along the lines of.. if ____ gets injured EMS will be notified immediately and treated initially on site by our medical team. If said injury is minor and treatment and /or transport is not needed do you _____ give _____ permission to sign a RMA. If transport and / or further treatment is necessary do you ____ give ____ permission to allow said interventions. 3. Contact your local medical director. Get him onboard and see what he will allow and or guidlines for you. 4. Contact your local EMS agencies as has been stated. They may be able to help w/ staffing OR are at least prepared for the added call volume. I know in our area the local state park hosts mountain bike races with their own staff. On that day, being my squad would be the responding squad, we put on extra crews just in case. Hell we have responded to numerous RMAs during the events and don't think twice about it. Beyond that.. when in doubt call us out!

OK I know we have all probably heard, seen, come across the billboards and stuff relating to this. I hold no opinion on the subject, to each his or her own. But I have something that is funny as hell about it. At first I didn't notice it but last night it was just smack me in my face obvious so I figured I would share a laugh with you all. On my regular route to and from home (which is also the route to and from the ED) there is one of those billboards. Well for the past few days as I have passed it in my POV the radio station I listen to has REM End Of The World playing. Now like I stated earlier I figured it was coincidence, frequency of play, timing, ect that it happened. No big deal, always put a smile in my commute. Well what changed? Well last night was my regular shift on the rig. We have been kind of slow so I figured it would be my normal routine (even though I goated it on by posting bring it on). First page came a few minutes into the shift, MVA, on my way to the rig my radio had World of Human Wreckage on. On my way home from the call radio had on Help Is On The Way. OK No big deal, usual playlists wierd timing. Next call goes out difficulty breathing, Wanted Dead or Alive. On the way to the hospital no radios on in the rig but here is where it gets wierd and slapped me. On our way back we turn on the radio to stay alert and its a totally different station then I listen to, partener picked it, pass that billboard and bam REM is on. My partner makes the comment that isnt it funny that came on passing that sign. I know its all coincidence and everything but I think its funny that both my radio and my rigs radio played that song passing that sign. Also add to it my radio in my POV on the way to calls seemed to add a sound track like a movie to my day. BTW after the last call of the night on my way home to sleep before my day job... Until It Sleeps Anyone else have a possessed radio that seems to add the sound track? No not iPods or iPod connected radios just straight up off the dial?

After a particularly messy call I found it blocks most if not all bodily fluid/secreation smells. I also added a small jar to each rig incase someone else needs it.

I did say we would see a spike but it will be short lived no sustained. No they are a threat to airlines, palces of worship, malls, stores, buildings... if He is alive the bombings would be to civilian targets to "force" a release. Taking from a BLS standpoint (hope you don't mind Beiber) Sounds like a seatbelt injury. Could be bruised sternum. Broken, fractured ribs. Nothing we can do diagnosticaly in the field. Maintain C-spine, transfer to long board, transport. ED needs to run a chest xray. Doesn't sound cardiac related due to the ECG strip, history, and presenting conditions.

Holy thread derail Batman LOL I am not going to bite BUT will add this. The reason this was a kill mission and not a capture mission is because of the security threat if he was captured alive. No matter what country "hosted" his detention would be at a huge security risk. The trail could never be public because it would possibly be over run to break him out. Equating him to Nazi and the Nurenburg Trials is WAY off base. Noone fanatical was going to come overrunning the prisons to get them out or start blowing shyt up to make a point. Bin Laden would have that happening if he was left alive. Hijackings, suicide bombings, car bombs, ect ect would start up everywhere with Al Quida (sp) claming responsiblity and telling everyone it will continue until his release. Then the international backlash of people yelling to release him to make it all stop would be deafing. The safest way and a way that would keep as many innocent civilians safe was to kill him. Yes we may see some spike in terrorism because of it, but it will die out quickly because there is no way of bringing back a dead man. As for the jubilation in the streets, its because of the closure folks feel they got. For alot of people with him alive there was no closure. Picture that in your heart and mind for 10 years then waking up one morning and hearing the cause of all your pain and suffering was finally gone. Yes jubilation comes to mind. Same as families do in courtrooms when criminals get found guilty. As for my opinion.. he got what was coming to him. Geez sorry about the VE Day reference I appologize to those offended parties. I made the connection only because of all the jubilation in the streets across the nation the same way it was on VE Day. Hey all figured this would be the right forum. Had a particularly bad CPR call this weekend. We worked the pt for over 40 minutes total. Well we get pack to the Station and I went to reach for something and got sharp pain in my shoulder. Now I have injured my shoulders before. Everything from dislocation to torn rotator cuff so I know shoulder pain. This feels different. I have full range of motion but every once in a while (at different positions) I get a sharp pain. To top it off it feels weaker, I don't have a way to quantify that other than "feel". So I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is it something to expect and it goes away in a few days with some heat and ASA. I do have to say this was my first CPR where I was doing the compressions, usually I am bagging or working the AED. If you were wondering no it was not a save, never analyized a shock the entire time.

Ruff to clarify. DNA is underway not completed. Burial at sea within 24 hrs to keep in line with Islamic traditions (no need to piss them off anymore then we already do) They have pictures but are awaiting release from a Presidential Order. All the net ones are a fake currently. According to a senior white house person photos are currently being decided on due to the gruesome nature. Might have to blurr a little to make it public. They have released pictures from inside the compound thus far. Its moving fast and I have serveral sources on and open currently but haven't missed much since the announcment.

Well I believe the sea burial. According to Islamic law it needs to be buried within 24 hrs. Preferably on land buried deep enough as not to smell the body and so that no creature can dig up the remains. If a land burial can not be performed due to being at sea a sea burial is allowed by placing a weight to the feet and lowering into the water in an area as to not have creatures eat the body immediatly. Also... (this is big) if a land burial will cause grave robbery for mutilation OR if land burial will cause a shrine to be errected then a burial at sea is prefered. As for other breaking news, White House staff have just confirmed this was a kill order, at no time was he going to be taken alive (CNN Live 8:28am EDT) For one I am happy this is finally done (to the ATS folks... who cares if it was 10 yrs ago or May 1st at least it is official now) now we just need to put on our balistic under roos because some ahole is going to pull something in retaliation.
