  1. I call shenanigans.
  2. I think everyone here has been with a patient who would not be convinced to take a ride in the ambulance, when they really needed it. Are we now supposed to sit with these patients and blab their ears off until they go unconscious and then use implied consent? Sorry if someone brought this up already, I just read the first page, and the unsupported facts and statistics annoyed me too much to read on.
  3. Don't stair step. If you want to be an MD, go straight to college, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Seriously. Your taking a year of your life out for Paramedic, taking 4 years for an RN, then 8 more years for a MD at least. Most kids who start the med school track at 18, are near or over 30 by the time they are on their own. If you want to be a paramedic, do it, and learn to do it well. Community puts on a good, but strenous program from what I have heard. If you want to be an RN, enroll in IUPUI or Ivy Tech now and get started. Do that first, then if you decide you want to be a EMT-P, go back to that. Trust me, this is coming from a economical stand point as well as an educational.
  4. At the FD I am at... they have two part time EMT's to cover day shift. They make $10/hr. Members were allowed to do this, but then Wage and Labor came in with the opinion that is working and volunteering for the same business and it is a no-no. I don't know if this is relevant to the conversation at hand or not.
  5. Sheri, do you have any union, or other type of representation to the city?
  6. Ted, Where are you taking your class at?
  7. Good job. Dumbass!
  8. I skipped page two because I am extremely tired, so you probably talked about this already... but... How do you decide between someone who was drinking, and who is intoxicated?
  9. The cans are easy. Good quality string is hard to come by.
  10. Campbell's 2-way delux.
  11. Look's like tonka trucks.
  12. I can't shed light on the system. The property tax system in Indiana, is a mess. Any system that doesn't rely on taxation is a step foward from what we have. They still haven't approved local government's 2007 budgets that were submitted.
  13. Disclaimer: This service is close for me, but I don't know anyone that works for it. JP, how would your service handle it if he was completely up front, even for a moment?
  14. Its a long story, I bolded the parts I am referencing. If you were in charge, how would you handle it if the crews story is right? The supervisors?
  15. Next time your through Indy, I'll buy ya some wings/beer!
  16. I could care less about the level, its the attitude. Is $50k with little OT in the pay-range for an EMT-I in GA? I know she sure as hell doesn't work for Rural Metro!
  17. So you can't see how transients hurt a profession? Look at the news line on the front page. Every week theres a story about someone who is an EMT for the "buzz" they get "helping" someone. These people don't care about the latest EMS research. They don't care about degrees for paramedics. They don't even care about saftey innovations for ambulances. They just care for what THEY get out of it.
  18. Wendy, how many people teach in publics schools, for "a experience"? Then how many of them go on to talk about how they shouldn't have to advance their education to the Masters level because they don't want to teach for ever?
  19. 1. You recieved help. 2. You started talking about your pay first. 3. You publicly said you don't want to be a part of this profession and you don't care for it. 4. I smell troll.
  20. You also probably had more senority than Jesus, slightly less than God.
  21. Median Hourly Rate by Years Experience - Job: Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / Paramedic (United States) Courtesy of payscale.com $50,000 would be $24/hr.
  22. I want to become an LPN. Just to see what its like. No problem in that right? But while I am doing it, you will hear me all the time moaning and complaining that the RN's get paid more for doing little work. Why should I have to take two more years of school just to push some drugs, right?
  23. Whats up with all the [s:eea931d1d9]old farts[/s:eea931d1d9] great medics giving it up! Love ya brother!
  24. Real heros wear chains!
