  1. I proctored a skill test recently. Supine C-Spine Failed fifty to seventy-five percent on their first try. People were getting mad at me because they thought I was being too tough, or not taking into account that the students were "nervous." Well, you know what? I don't think they will be any less nervous the first time they have to C-Spine someone that matters. Its not that hard, with someone who is laying out in the open and really isn't hurt and isn't dead weight. C-Spine should be the easiest station you take at a practical. I was failing people for STUPID mistakes too. Not tightening straps. Putting head blocks on before straps. One guy decided to line the patient up, he would pull him a foot down the board by his ankles, and pull him a foot up by his shoulders. Gah. I don't know what that has to do with your question, but I feel better now.
  2. Which is more disrespectful: Tattoos or underwear?
  3. I don't think the chaplain is offered for the victim's/patients/family as much as they are offering it for the crews? Or did I read it wrong. Plenty of PD's across the country have chaplains in their departments that volunteer. These men and women spend hours of their time riding out with the officers, seeing their job and getting to know them. I don't think they do it so much to minister to the officers, as they do to become a resource in the officers network. In that capacity, I believe it is a fine idea. Just as long as these guys aren't going out to try and minister to every family the ambulance comes across. Chaplain's have taken on more of a social worker/victim advocates role anyway. Maybe there should be another title for this service, to take the religious stereotypes away.
  4. Aren't the Cajuns part French?
  5. Can we make Louisiana a large National Wildlife Refuge?
  6. Daily Press How many states require NREMT registration for their paramedics? What exactly does a NREMT accrediation consist of? Can anyone from Michigan vouch is this really a serious issue there? How many volly paramedics are there? Not posting to start a war, just curious, I read this article, and one thing that suck out was the 2 out of 42 programs that have accrediation. How serious of an issue is Michigan facing because of this?

A vote for Obama is a vote for paid ALS ambulances nationwide. :sign5:

Gives you real faith in their certification system... eh?
  9. Richard, I am honestly, not sure what our protocols are for O2 flow. I know we just go by what ever keeps the reservoir inflated.
  10. You really think thats why they hate you? How sweet.
  11. V = V[sub:a0851fb66f]A[/sub:a0851fb66f]+V[sub:a0851fb66f]D[/sub:a0851fb66f] Well... thats what wiki told me.
  12. I heard it runs in the family.
  13. Richard.... HIDE!
  14. I've never missed it, never wondered what it would be like either. Maybe it's just me. Fifty-six percent of American newborn males are circumcised. So approximately a quarter of American newborns are "altered". From what I have read this morning, it is a late 19th/early 20th century procedure that was started for the same reasons many procedures were for during that time period. They didn't have the capabilites to establish good hygine during that period and the procedure did prevent infection and other complications. Also they theroized it would stop the spread of STDs, and other sexual things. Obviously we know this is false today, parents do it for 3 reasons: Culture, Religion, Conformity. Think about it like this as well... I don't have foreskin, so I think, I would be a bit hesitant explaining to my son how to clean his. Never done it, never have to do it, how do I know if I'm doing it right?
  15. John the Baptist was Christian, not the joke of Cathol..... won't go there. RE: US Marshal (With one L) Career Opportunities
  16. I also wonder, under what circumstances will they release the info to the police? Think dad is buying it for his 18 year old son's party.... call the cops?
  17. Thats better ( ) than the solution here. In the huge party-university town the next county over, the liquor stores got together, and as a group, decided no more kegs. For anyone.
  18. At least, for McCains sake, Bush is skipping the convention.
  19. I had no idea St. Johns was a good system. If I ever want to move back home (Lebanon, MO) I have a few people I know there, I am sure I could probably find a way in the company. Are their protocols the same across the system? (Springfield, Lebanon, Camdenton, Buffalo, ect.) ?

  21. I am trying to see if I can go on Friday... I don't have the money to spend on the $75 for one day right now, but I would like to go see Billy Goldfelder speak. Thanks for reminding me, I have to hit my Chief up tomorrow.
  22. When is it appropriate to think about the crash? There will always be hurt, someone will always be affected. There will always be children with out a parent. I am not stirring a pot, trying to hurt feelings, or anything of the like. Just a simple question, when is the right time?
