  1. What does $20/hr relate to down here?
  2. You all know, police wear straight legged pants all the time right? And they probably see alot more rough and tumble then our pants do. If you insist on having gloves with you, they make glove holders to go on your belt, same with the shears. Does your company pay for the pants? If so whats the huge set back here?
  3. What about the Doctors, nurses, and RT's that step out and light up after treating all of the days COPD paitents?
  4. I did your work for you: [web:b57fc260b9]http://ivytech.edu/schools/health/paramedic-science/index.html[/web:b57fc260b9] Available at these campuses: [*]Gary [*]Michigan City [*]South Bend [*]Fort Wayne [*]Kokomo [*]Terre Haute [*]Indianapolis [*]Columbus [*]Evansville [*]Bloomington You get your AAS degree. Ivy Tech is NOT expensive. You are looking at probably $15k TOPS if that for your 2 years and you get some foundation you might not get at a stand alone program. Your tuition would be around $7000 plus books and other expenses. [web:b57fc260b9]http://ivytech.edu/financialaid/[/web:b57fc260b9] You're not trying. Anyone can afford school. It all depends on how willing you are to work for it. Don't try a sob story here. It won't blow over. If you want to make more money, further your education. It will pay for it self.
  5. [web:1f12385ceb]http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Features/articleId=124566?mktcat=knight-rider&kw=knight+rider&mktid=ga44507412[/web:1f12385ceb] Ok, not really, but a sweet car. Tonight it comes back on NBC!
  6. Have you tried scholarships to get into Ivy Tech for medic school? What part of Indiana are you in? When I am eligible for financial aid again I am going to apply to the Ivy Tech Paramedic program in Kokomo.
  7. That's the first time I have ever heard of something like that, but I love it. I bet you could probably find a way to work with the Health Insurance agency to get lower premiums due to the healthy lifestyle. Thats something we should look into as well. How can we make sure to keep out staff healthy? Its not the agency's responsilblity no. But, EMS does offer lots of choices for an unhealthy lifestyle. Does anyone have any programs where they work, where they subsidize a health club membership? What about anything along the lines of stop smoking programs? Is it performanced based? Or can you get the healthclub membership, never go, and still cost the company a few hundred dollars? It wouldn't happen with ours. I see some sort of requirement, say you have to go 15 times in a month to the gym. Or else we don't pay our share of next months progress? The company may be able to save on benifits with this type of arrangement.
  8. The Fish in Question:
  9. Interesting discussion from my region. http://www.andersonfreepress.net/anderson-...s/politics/5987
  10. It just pisses me the F off. After that freakazoid before, it is so peaceful. I hate it.
  11. Reading the JEMS article, sounds like the officer has a history of being rude and abuseive. One of the reasons the jury said they entered the judgement against him. He has numerous complaints, and had a prior issue with using too much force in an arrest in 2002. Sounds like a nice guy.
  12. The new Brauns have a hidden unlock switch. Don't even need 2 sets of keys!
  13. Agreed. Is that called being put out to pasture? Dispatching isn't for everyone. It could be a light-duty task, based on personality. I like both ideas. Have a supply at your station, and a supply at the ED both. Keep meds at the ED and HQ under lock. Also this is a good reason to have QRV's available at HQ for the front line supervisors. They can take supplies to restock an unit in the field in an emergent or just extremely busy situation. I think this is one of Dust's pushes to be hospital based. Use their billing system. Then you get your all in one bill, better chance of payment, and easier collections. I don't like the idea of putting our people on FD trucks. We will be calling the FD, extracations, codes, heavy pt's. But no need to have them on everything we do. In fact, I don't think we should even have an automatic dispatch with the FD, only on request.
  14. See what I posted above about what is a bag and it will explain it.
  15. Only if Dust and AK both will wear it. Here is the current rundown Staffing: Medics only IFT's: NO Education: Handled in house, with medic school, possibly working out a degree program witl a local college. Uniforms: No wacker uniforms. Flight suits or scrubs? Dispatch: In house with trained call takers Management: Front line supervisors in office, with QRV access if needed, but not a primary responder. What about trucks? Billing? Protocols? Support services?
  16. The only thing that makes it in my cargo pockets is junk I don't need to begin with!
  17. You missed the point again. Stop thinking this is about you and go and re-read what he wrote.
  18. You're right it could happen to a medic. You missed the point, that I didn't expect someone of your caliber to get anyways. You said, "it's not a big deal." The point is, it is a big deal. Belive it or not, you can kill someone with an IV line, and I would venture to say its more likely to happen with someone who has had 6 hours of training on IV's than someone who has had 2 years of training on the human body.
  19. Local Complications Hematoma Phlebitis Thrombosis Thrombophlebitis Infiltration Infection Venous spasm Catheter dislodgement Nerve, tendon, ligament damage Vasovagal reaction Occulsion Systemic Complications Septicemia Circulatory overload Pulmonary edema Air embolism Speed shock Catheter embolism
  20. Noun S: (n) tact, tactfulness (consideration in dealing with others and avoiding giving offense) Something this officer had none of.
  21. I have heard of some botched heart caths, lets let the nurses in there now and start doing them. What about bothced tooth extractions, they happen. Leave it to the dental hygentist. Botched war? Screw the presidet, the Secretary of Education can handle it.
  22. What is an airline style uniform? I can't picture it in my head. Unless we are getting government money like the FD and PD. Don't forget people like me. If you want a completely legibe handwritten chart from me, our truck will be out of service for a hour after the run, and you better make those boxes plenty big.
  23. What do you mean by dress slacks? What kind of pants did you wear before?
  24. I think your a wanker for taking pics with your ambo. Will we have a doc hired on in the system? Or will we rely with the hospital to be affilated with us? Or us them?
