  1. I hate you.
  2. Would you even still take the 911 calls?
  3. No word on that one at Snopes. But I did find this.... John Dillenger
  4. Here comes the science: Snopes
  5. PD gets to 95% of accidents first. Why shouldn't they be able to? In my county, we have 3 diffrent dispatches. 10-50 PI, 10-50 PD, 10-50 Unkown. We only dispatch it as a PI if an occupant in the accident requests ambulance, or if a passerby sees obvious injuries. Only dispatch as PD if an occupant in the ambulance says no injuries in both vehicles. PI and Unk's both get Police/Fire/EMS response. On arrival if everyone in the accident requests no ambulance, a PD officer can call in and advise PD only. I don't know what type of paperwork they have to fill out for that however.
  6. Beat me to it. I don't think anyone would agree that death was worth it? EDIT: I like spenac didn't catch the part she was on duty at the time. None the less... NEVER cross a divided highway on foot unless ALL lanes of traffic are stopped. ALWAYS put your vehicle on the same side of the road of the incident, even if you have to go a couple of miles out of the way. If their ambulance would have been on the same side of the road as them, this accident MAY not have happened. You can never tell for sure, but it probably couldn't of hurt them anymore.

  8. Wow? What is wrong that a dumb question like that could offend you so much? Geeze. The nursing home is really doing you in?
  9. Ok, waited a few days for everyone to read the joke and chuckle. Now I must pass along some bad news: Butt Seriously, Folks
  10. I propose hi-vis green.
  11. Kayak, Are you truly interested in medicine? Or do you just like lights and sirens. Answer honestly. We had this discussion at my VFD the other day. There are alot of people who do not care for EMS that are foced to do it, and paitent care suffers. You can tell the difference between the two just running one or two calls with them. This isn't an attack on firemen, there is a job to do for fire, there is a job to do with EMS, and there is a job to do with PD. Sometimes we all have to work together to achieve a common goal. Sometimes our worlds are completely seperated. You have just discovered something about yourself reading this thread hopefully. Think about it and tell us what it is.
  12. I thought the line was a PD thing? Thin Blue line?
  13. One accomplishment from 9/11 that I have seen is the Indiana SAFE-T system. A state wide interagency trunked communication system. It seems to work well, the biggest problem is getting individual agencies on board with it. [web:17f3a79af2]http://www.in.gov/ipsc/safe-t/[/web:17f3a79af2] NIMS drives me up the wall though. And I see what Dust is talking about, FEMA isn't any better off today then it was 2 years ago. And it won't be until the next major event. Then we will talk about making everything better for a year, and priorities will become realigned.
  14. Sad to see that one guy tarnished your reputation with the FD. Hopefully he was young and dumb and someone taught him the basics of extracation after that? All of the interesting senarios I have dealt with involve semi's.... On their side, upside down, right side up. Its alot easier to get someone out of an upside down semi then it is one rightside up!
  15. These responses really disappoint me. Replace the name in the story, with the name of anyone from here. Would you be talking about them the same? Just because the news caught wind of the story and published it, there hasn't been any trial, we haven't read the officers probable cause statement. What gives us the right to judge this man based on a few vague paragraphs? I forgot, there has never been a healthcare provider, or any other person, wrongly accused of rape in America. 16. Henry County (Indiana) Sheriff Department operates an ALS transport service. There isn't any information on the interweb about it however. I could get you a phone number if you wanted it. Would kind of worry me, they run ALS fly cars that are police comissions. Red/blues, Sheriff stars, sheriff uniforms with badges, but no guns. *shiver*
  17. AK, Why did you title this thread the way you did?
  18. You make it sound like you are so much safer in reflective gear. I think you forgot that peoples windshields somehow contort the stripes into the shape of a bullseye.
  19. I've noticed that there has been quite a few super old bumps lately. And in honor of my 1000th post(that I didn't realize I made until 10 posts later), I would like to bump this, the thread with my very first post in it. Unfortunately, I still haven't contributed anything meaningful to this forum. Does anyone have any thoughts on the current preparedness of the nation? Have we learned any lessons from Katrina? Is NIMS hurting more then it is helping? Any paper-pushers out there that can chime in on that? I went through a "tactical" dispatch course a few months ago. The sheer number of forms to fill out on a regional/state/national level response astonished me. No joke, you have to fill out a form to be able to fill out a form to request donuts, and when the donuts arrive you have to fill out a form they arrived. It is amazing they don't inventory them and who took how many donuts. Can we really work together? If the regional HAZMAT team I am on is called out to Cincinnati on a large scale incident, would we really be able to work together as one?
  20. Does anyones service have a protocol where they check your welfare after x amount of time with no contact? Just wondering. We were on scene with a diabetic tonight and dispatch didn't check on us for 45 min. I know with police officers, they get checked every four to five min. we don't need that frequent status checks, or do we? Or do we need them at all?
  21. Saint Louis is better! I have a brother there, no hotel room fees for me! Although I do have a good friend in Warrensburg I haven't seen in a few years... hmmm....
  22. I nominate this thread for best of 2008! I'm buying the popcorn! EMT Paramedic Fleshlight pr0n
  23. I tried skiing aout 10 years ago. I remember spending more time on my two cheeks then I did on my two skis! EMT Paramedic Fleshligh Pr0n
  24. Simple scene survey... its your best weapon. Other day went out on a trucker that was in the cab of his truck, fallen couldn't get up and the doors were locked. He exhibited some siezure like activity and was semi-responsive so we decided to take out a window. Did so and jumped right up in the cab. Then I though, damn, that was supid, glad he didn't have a shotgun. EMT Paramedic Fleshlight pr0n
  25. Any leisons or breaks in the skin? Had this happen to a friend of mine, turned out to be MRSA.
