  1. I don't understand the role of the tactical medic. Put your operators thru EMT or CFR classes, give them a gunshot trauma kit, and put the medics back out at the command post waiting with the ambulance. With that said, I wouldn't consider you a tactical medic with out a gun and armor and training. We have a "tactical dispatch team" I am a part of. I love the concept, but wish we had a diffrent name. Incident Dispatch Team would suit me better. We go out with SWAT, but we are a mile away in the big command post. No guns or armor or any of that sort. We can also be called for basicly any large scale incident. Tactictal just makes it sound cooler I guess...
  2. So... Wow.... Spenac has a point... That really isn't apples vs. oranges. You said the ambulance driving miss daisy home is prevenitave care. So is the ambulance sitting outside my house. Eh ok 3 911 calls later I lost track of my point. But yea. Make a note. The dispatcher things Spenac is right.

  4. We actually discussed in the chat room last night. DHS would pefer for codes to go by the wayside, BUT, they don't care if you use them. As long as it is intaragency. When people say "ABOLISH TEN CODES PER NIMS!!!!!!" it is wrong. DHS issued whatever it is they issue saying as long as there are no other agencies involved in the response, codes are ok. But once other people start playing too... then... 10-8 goes 10-0.
  5. I will have to do some research, but I belive Miami or Orlando actually uses medics on motorcycles. When I get a chance to do some googling I will provide further.......
  6. Exactly my point. A new dispatcher was checking warrants for an adjoining state and gave them our code for "not wanted." In their jurisdiction that code means "wanted and dangerous." Luckily the other dispatcher confirmed what she said using plain text, and the mistake didn't make it to the officer. But that could have been a dangerous mistake! There really isn't even a need for 10 codes in LE. The few criminals who own scanners know what the codes mean. I may give you the code for a bank alarm, and they may not know that, but when they hear the banks address, that should sure be a tip off. Even the general public know what the codes are. We have people call 911 "I want to report a 10-55(drunk) or Signal 23 (speeder). The only think codes are good for are brevity in situations. Even then, In Service is only one more movement of your mouth than Ten Eight. There are only 4 codes I believe are really appropriate on the LE side here: 10-27 Drivers license check 10-28 License plate check 10-29 Wants and Warrants check And the code that means Is the person we are about to talk about standing right next to you? The three ten codes, really are the most useful as far as brevity goes. The fourth is useful for the guys who radio is audible to the person they are next to, and we are about to tell them something if they overheard could make them very agitated. I can't think of any code for fire that is worth anything.
  7. Nope A 10-50 is an accident. PI or PD 10-52 is a request for an ambulance.
  8. They always go to a room here. The only time they don't is when for some higher power unknown reason a 911 ambulance is used for a direct admit. Or OB's but they just go straight up to the OB floor.
  9. We carried them in boy scouts!
  10. Oh wow.. He does have a heart!!! Happy bday!
  11. Really? Explain to me how? I see nothing showing where this occurred. The patients first name, medical condition, diagnosis, doctors name, reason for transport, billing, insurance, phone numbers. Um? Wow....
  12. Hot Law and Order DA.....
  13. I can see both sides of the spectrum. How are they any diffrent from the first aid station at Six Flags. Is that a part of EMS? Just because they drive their golfcart and weeman siren 15 MPH to go get the kid that threw up on the Screamin' Eagle? I don't think so. But thats just me. What about camp nurses? They are there to deal with Emergencies, and routine problems, falls under the special events gig. Are they EMS? Going with these two standards, I wouldn't consider a concert gig true "EMS" but, prove me wrong.
  14. Now I can fix the light bar on my rig, poke on my PDA touch screen, change out an O2 bottle, lube the cot, flush the radiator, unclog the toilet, do a chest decompression, call home, light up a 5 vehicle accident scene, fix Windows Vista, plug a leaking saddle tank, AND make biscuits and gravy, all with the same tool!
  15. All of our SD units have them. They are dispatched and run emergent to all unconscious calls. If they ambulance beats them, then unless they are DRT the officer disregards. I don't believe the city cops have any AED's. if we see a call pop up on the citys screen and we have an officer we know might be close, we will tell them about it and then they can use their own discretion if they want to get involved or not.
  16. 1 W New Jersey Ave xxx, NJ 505 Bay Ave xxx, NJ 40 Cheyenne Ct xxx, FL Do those addresses look familiar? Seriously dude. I know no one will make up your mind, but look at how hard it was to find that stuff. Not very. If anyone from the public was to make an account, and see your statements, all they would have to do is go to your myspace, see who you work for, and call up your boss. File a complaint. "Hey, I think this guy transported my Grandma, does he act like this for all people? I want my money back from the transport. And I might press action against your company because I am going through everything with a fine tooth comb." Honestly man, I am not dropping you down, I am not trying to diss you, or anything else like that. I just want you to see. It is not hard at all to do... Think before you post man. Thats all we ask.
  17. I drove by best buy at 2300 Thursday. Lined up around 3 sides of the building. Tents, heaters, more hardcore then I want to be.
  18. Did you BSI and Scene Safe first? Shoot... I do that and still get clawed by a paitent...
  19. You forgot the "Not!"
  20. But, it appears it can only low carry, not high carry, so if I am wheeling someone a long distance after going down stairs, seems to have run in to the back problem again.
  21. How is this better then a stair chair with treads?
  22. I would use a deer slug.
