Wow Anthony, that is incredibly stupid. I don't have a vest, but it is something I am considering a purchase on, for reasons other than EMS also. But I definately wouldnt keep it in my trunk.

I thought I was hijacking, but really, this is rural EMS right here too. We don't have alot of problems with rural areas and directions. Actually in this county it is really simple. There is an imaginary 0 line both in longitude and latitude. The county streets are numbered off of that. 100W would be the first N/S road West of the 0 line. 100N would be the first E/W road north of the 0 line. So an address of 8523 North 300 West would be 8.5 miles north and 3 miles west of the 0/0 intersection. or .5 miles north of 800N on 300W. When we get into subdivisions, they still number them as they would fit in to the county even though they are on named roads. So that helps quite a bit. And we can give cross roads for 75% of addresses.

Keep in mind, I am a multi-agency dispatcher, but I don't think we should be held responsible for your agencies failure to prepare. If your agency doesn't have maps for you, and hasn't gone to the effort of gathering or creating maps of our NASCAR hoods.... then why is that my fault?

Yes. People caught on to what I was thinking. My other question, how does high blood pressure turn you "white as a ghost?" That is the first time I have heard that. My experiences have been low blood pressure loses color, high blood pressure increases color. Can someone explain the physiology to me of losing color with a high BP?

Why should I have to ask for directions to a house? If you can't tell me that (if you live in my county) 4300 N 500W is .3 miles north of County Road 400N, then its not my fault your service trusts you to drive. If you can't read a map to find the best way to an address, again, not my problem. If you don't have a map on your truck, (join with me) again, not my problem. The "What does your house look like" thats an ok question, I will ask when my police officers are responding hot to a call, because they can't take the time to slow down and look at house numbers, and potentially get shot during the domestic dispute, like ambulances can. Honestly, who decided it was up to dispatch to give you directions to an address? Did we all fail sophmore geography?

FBI, CIA, DHS, ATF, NSA, DEA, USPI, USSS, USTP, USMP, USFRP, Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, USFA, DOT, DOJ, USPP, USCP, ISP, IMERT, DMAT, MRC, FEMA, CDC, NENA, NREMT, DOE, DSG, COPS, Texas Rangers, and Chuck Norris are ALL going to come kick your ass for even THINKING of such consolidation of services. This is the UNITED STATES! PORK BARREL PROJECTS FOR ALL!

School. Go to college, get your Paramedic degree. Get more CE's then are required. Get a degree in biology. Go for pre-med. Seems like good ways to me at least.

Yep. To get paid. I swear, if I ever hear of someone trying to turn 911 dispatch into volunteer service, I will run them in to the ground so far their heads will be popping up in Dust's toilet.

Look at the everyday situations. Last winter when we had a blizzard, government shut down. When people called 911 or the police, if it wasn't medical or a life or death situation, they had to wait. I understand people may be running snowmobiles on your fields, but I am sorry, we can't do anything about it right now. I understand people may be looting your store after this hurrican, but I am sorry, we can't help you right now. I understand you may have a large laceration, but I am sorry, if its not bleeding, we can't help you right now. It is this mentality, that hurts everyone else. We can NOT rely on others. I am not one of these gun carrying extremists. In fact, I don't have a gun yet. But.... Still. It isn't the form of government our fathers imagined. I don't mean our forefathers, I mean our fathers.

Our founding fathers, had no intention of Americans having to rely on the govenment for any services. I strongly belive we rely on these disaster teams too much. We need to be prepared to defend ourselves, and care for ourselves in the instance of an emergency. Once again, these "ERT's" are only pet projects for senators and repesentatives to show they are actually doing something for their home states. Instead of real work, like ending the war, lowering taxes, or balancing the budget. You have to wonder, how did America ever make it through WWII, or how did OKC make it through the bombing? We didn't have all these teams then!
