  1. Wow. So how does a transport from a hospital to a nursing home qualify as an EMERGENCY MEDICAL NEED? And for your information, I do not work for a service that does any interfacility transports. My part time job is on a 911 only ambulance. This isn't a question about getting us out of work. This is a question of qualifications. How is an EMT more qualified to transport grandma, when a CNA or LPN does the things day in and day out, and can probably take better care of their specific needs, such as diapers, catheters, sores and ect.
  2. Where is your class. I need to be in it. That stuff turns me on!
  3. I'm glad this entire post went over your head. This has obviously spun off of a couple of other discussions on this topic. Its not a question on going where we are told, or who is the supervisor. It is a question of is it an appropriate use of resources, and are we qualified to do it. Thanks.

  5. Is this a job for EMS? Pick up the little old lady at the hospital, take her to her doctors office, then back to the nursing home. Ect., ect,. ect.? What qualifications do you need for that type of job? Equipment? What about the long cross-state transfers?
  6. You are 18. You have taken a 120 hour class taught at the 8th grade reading level. What is there to respect? I am young and an EMT-B and I do not DEMAND respect, as you put it. I know where I stand, and I know what I don't know. No one with 120 of training, yes training; not education, belongs on a 911 ambulance. You really don't even belong on a transfer ambulance. That could be a thread all on it's own though.

She is so far in the hole it doesn't matter anyways.
  8. What about these super army medics? They think they are paramedics, but can only operate as an EMT-B in the civilian world. But try to pass themselves off as the best thing since sliced bread.
  9. -20 for self moderation. 8) So. Should all 911 calls be ALS/ALS trucks.

  11. What do I have in my arsenal to tell if this isn't a underlying cardiac problem?
  12. Its not just EMS. We get yelled at for using anything other then black ink on NCIC paperwork in dispatch.
  13. Did you save some diapers for yourself?
  14. Wow. You are so right AK. My bad. Thats what I get for multitasking.
  15. I assumed a cardiac arrest. Maybe she meant something diffrent.
  16. WOW THATS A LONG SENTENCE. But really, in that instance, why does it matter if they ask in front of the patient? They patient isn't going to know. They are dead!
