  1. Mechanism of injury/illness is protocol for a reason. Even though they appear stable, they may not stay that way. Which is why you are to take them to a definitive facility. That is in the perfect world. We are trained to evaluate a patient by monitoring them and assessing frequently. So, that being said... it really depends on the situation, you location in relation to the patient and theirs to a hospital and that hospitals capability. When in doubt give a shout! (to medical command)
  2. Physical exams can differ a lot depending on where you are applying at. Some places do not have any. Some may be tedious. I would not expect you will have to run a mile or bench press 200 pounds. I would however, expect to do a few push-ups and maybe lift a dummy and move it 10 feet. I would call the place you are going to and ask them what they expect of you. This is pre-employment. So I would assume you were planning on dressing nicely to look professional. I wish more places would require a physical fitness requirement for work, not only to get the job, but to KEEP it. My last job I was asked to do several push-ups, move a 150lb manikin across the room and demonstrate proper lifting techniques. It was ironic since the person conduction the test was roughly 400lbs. Good luck
  3. Sorry, you failed the program. The program did no fail you. Suck it up, deal with it.
  4. Truly terrible news. Spoken with him many times. He was a great guy. Very fun and thoughtful. Always had the time to listen if you needed to talk. Miss ya brother. RIP
  5. Is it just me or does this topic seem really familiar? I could have sworn there was an "issue" just like this before. The OP never fully specified the issues, just kept whining it was the schools fault they had failed.
  6. those could be anyones boobs. sharpie with my name on them edit: I see a wedding ring.. bummer
  7. woah wait... crapmagnet is a chick?
  8. Bummer... get well soon
  9. Looks real to me. According to a few professionals whom work with photoshop agree. Also, this link proves it's real too http://errorlevelanalysis.com/permalink/69afc4f/
  10. test test test test test Seems to be working fine for me. Proper use included you selecting the "multi quote" button under each persons comment you wish to reply to.
  11. I agree. DO NOT read into the questions. Do no assume anything. If the question does not give you info, don't factor that into your answer. Get plenty of rest. Relax! Enjoy a nice breakfast in the morning. A coffee and donut will not suffice. Good luck.
  12. Paramedic training, as long as every other type of education comes from not only class room instruction, it comes from YOU. You have to read. You have to study. You have to go over material not in your book. You have to study the drugs. You have to study the protocols. This isn't middle school. This is higher education. This is supposed to a profession. If you do not go the extra mile, you will not succeed. Instruction is only a small portion of your education. You are supposed to be learning to save peoples lives. You argument for when someone kicks the bucket in your care can't be "they didn't talk about that in class". You also mentioned the school was shut down. You said it was shut down AFTER the completion of the course. The program ended, classes over. The school was closed forever. Now you want to get your money back because you failed? Please clarify. Also, what is this super complicated protocol? I thought a protocol just stated what do to in certain situations? Anyway, what is it?
  13. One time we found one of those breast milk pumps under one of the crew room beds. Strange thing was there were no female employees that worked on the ambulance, only office people. They wouldn't have been in the crew room. None of them were preg either.
  14. Me and a friend of mine had an idea to get an ambulance and start our own "bang bus" dealie. I wonder if she is looking for work.
  15. Around these parts, you will have several different ambulance services at the same hospital at any given time. Both providers enter the hospital and may not come back outside for any period of time depending on the patient or how busy the ED is. That being said, most people don't turn off their ambulance or lock the doors like they should. It would be easy for ANYONE to walk by and grab something. Could have very easily even when on scene. Not that it being "easy" to steal makes it right in anyway. Just people need to lock up their shit more. or just tell the person driving that you can't stop here... its bat country.
  16. I have not watched House for a while, but from what I do remember, he tended to be pretty arrogant and had quite the ego. So, I would assume it was just his character being the superior figure like he always was even to other doctors. This is typical even in real life settings.
  17. It's not hard to drive an ambulance, not hard at all. Being an EMT doesn't make you a better driver. Being a medic doesn't make you a better driver. I just think you people need to find something more interesting to bitch about.
  18. We were using the hospitals "extra" Braun Infusion pumps. They worked well, and easy to easy. But they were bulky for an ambulance. We recently upgraded to the Baxter AS50. They are amazing and super easy to use. If you have a lot of pumps, I suggest you contact the company that made them and talk with a rep about trading them in for upgrades. If won't get you a lot, but it would help with the cost. Everyone will have there preferences on what to use and what not to use like any other product. I have not used many pumps and I will not attempt to "use" one I am not familiar with. I suggest you contact manufacturers and get the reps to come out and demo what they have. See what works best for you. here is a list of some pumps and approximate costs http://www.cnamedical.com/InfusionPumps.htm
  19. Why would this be such a bad idea? As far as I know, you need TWO qualified people on the ambulance to fulfill a crew. That being said, you need an EMT to make the crew full with a medic. So, if the same laws apply there as they do here, this is a fantastic idea. It frees up a qualified person to do what they were trained to do, instead of being a "driver". You will have your full crew, in the back, with the patient where they belong. Having someone come in on their own time, to help with patient care and drive the ambulance while the providers can, well PROVIDE for the patient would be fantastic.
  20. this post sucks without pics of the act at hand... don't tease us like that
  21. Making the bomb is the easy part.. finding the plutonium might serve to be a little more difficult ever want to prank your boss with an exploding pen? ask
  22. My old employer refused to let us even have a treadmill or stationary bike at the station. He said he didn't want people getting hurt. Seriously? Getting hurt? Like standing on the side of the highway in the middle of a snow storm isn't dangerous. They also refused to pay for a corporate gym membership. But then they would complain about people being over weight and out of shape. This all coming from a boss and supervisor whom were the fattest in the company. Personally, I enjoy exercising and feel everyone should do some sort of exercise. It is rewarding and actually makes you feel better, mentally and physically. You do not need to go to a gym, or have a trainer to get into shape. It is very simple. Eating healthier, walking up stairs instead of elevators or escaladors. Taking walks outside with friends or co-workers. Start jogging a little, do sit-ups and push ups... simple people! You can do most of this during commercials of your tv shows you watch for 5hrs at night. edit: only the first paragraph was in response to you Phil, the rest was me rambling.
  23. Yes, you can find out how to make just about anything on the internet. Step by step guides on how to build a remote controlled c4 bomb, how to hack into someones computer, etc etc. The point is, if you are looking at this kind of stuff and later get caught doing something with it, then you are in trouble. Reading how to do things isn't illegal, not yet at least. I like learning stuff like that because I find it fascinating how chemical reactions work and junk like that. But would I make an explosive to test it out? Hell no, I value my life and freedom.
  24. Just start spamming the link across facebook like everyone else does
  25. I also took 4yrs of French in High School. Mostly because the girls in the class were hot. Like most everyone else, it was the "wrong" choice in the long run. The German students went to Germany by their SR year, same with the Spanish class. The French class, we had a pizza party.. FRENCH BREAD PIZZA!
