If you can't see the patients face, address or license plate.. not much wrong with that. If you post pictures of an accident scene, it's best to have permission from people in the pictures before you post. Otherwise, block/blur out their faces. Also a good idea to block/blur out any identification of affiliation for the ambulance/police/fire crews. There was an individual who posted pictures of an accident scene onto another message board that showed the patient/patients. They were working on an ambulance, walking around talking pictures with their cell phone. It also had description of the call in detail (no names though). This was all done before a police report was even filed. This person got in trouble and was fired. Personally, I think what they did was wrong. There is no need for this, at all! If you want to take pictures, fine. Keep them for yourself though. Don't go posting whatever you please for everyone to see without permission. -

I post the most intimate details of my life. Every 5 minutes, I update. Getting a drink. Just finished my drink. I just burped, etc etc. Just because it's a social networking site, doesn't mean what you do on there is all personal. For example, my current "status" is "cheeseburgers nom nom nom nom" LOOK OUT!!! CALL PETA!! -

Facebook... stopping criminals one post at a time! I would like to see what he actually posted, since saying he was going to be wearing street clothes doesn't sound like such a big deal. Unless someone on his friends list was a spy for the drug lords who would relay information saying look out for this guy in the sneakers! He did, however, potentially screw up a FBI investigation. Surly they would not be too happy about that. This is one of the reasons why everything on my facebook is private. I don't post stuff about work related things. I even removed myself from the indexing so you can't find me on google searches. Do I have anything to hide? No, of course not, but I like to keep my private life private. Too many nosey people out there who just want to get someone else in trouble for whatever reason. Some things what are said on facebook should not be said of course, but that's why you can comment on them, or chose to ignore them. Loss of a job might be a bit extreme, but we don't know exactly what he was posting. If he was just saying stuff like "lots of traffic stops tonight... people are idiots" so what? I have had a cop call me a moron to my face before. Did he get fired for that? Doubtful! Just an example though of course. -

Why was there a cooler of beer that belongs to the father, when the father is in jail?

I will just wear my duty boots now next time I commit a crime. I know a few people, including myself who still do mark the bottoms of our boots. It has been practiced here for a while among a few of us. First thing we do is mark the bottoms. I also keep a medical alert dealie in my right boot. Containing the usual info.

Wasn't sure if I was supposed to laugh, feel sorry, or what.. you decide http://www.newschannel9.com/news/year-987196-old-christmas.html CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WTVC-TV) - A 4-year-old boy, beer in hand, is accused of stealing Christmas presents from his neighbors. It's a strange story, but also a sad one. April Wright is 21 years old and is going through a divorce with her husband who is in jail. She says she is not sure how her 4-year-old managed to get out of the house, open a beer, and steal the neighbors presents from under their tree. Now she's just glad he's okay and says she won't let it happen again. The child, Hayden Wright, was found around 1:45 am Tuesday, wandering the streets of his neighborhood. In a police reports, officers said he was wearing a little girl's dress and drinking a beer. The police report says the child had to be taken to the hospital to be treated for alcohol consumption. April Wright said, "Biggest concern was him being out there, getting kidnapped, getting run over, the alcohol, having to have his stomach pumped." Wright says she woke up that night at 1:45 am and panicked when she found Hayden was gone. She says she put safety devices on all the doors so her kids couldn't get out, but Hayden was able to break the safety device off the doorknob and get outside. Once out, Wright says her four year old followed his father's footsteps and was found on Blue Spruce Road, drinking. "He runs away trying to find his father," she said. "He wants to get in trouble so he can go to jail because that's where his daddy is." The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office report says Hayden rang the doorbell a few houses down and the neighbor answered, finding the child holding a partially consumeed 12-ounce beer. Wright said, "He got it out of my father's cooler in the back and how he got it open I don't understand because it was one of those tab beers." But it doesn't stop there. The report said Hayden then snuck into a neighbor's house through an unlocked front door, and stole five wrapped Christmas gifts. One was a girl's brown dress which Hayden was wearing when police found him. "Going to the neighbor's house and taking their presents, very embarrassing," said April. She admits she was not just embarrassed, but scared, and rushed to the hospital that night with Hayden. She said she tries to be a good mother and loves her son, but now feels like a failure. "Kids do things like this and it's out of your control, you can do the best you can as a mother, everyone makes mistakes, it was an honest mistake," she said. Wright did meet with child protective services today who told her she will get to keep custody of Hayden.

EMT Practical advice?
FireMedic65 replied to Meghan Shannon's topic in NREMT - National Registry of EMT's
Do not waste your time attaching oxygen before you start bagging, but make sure you do get o2 flowing ASAP. Wasting time to apply o2 is that much more time the patient has with NO oxygen at all. The normal 21% oxygen in the room air is better than 0%. As Jwade said, bag right away. Attach o2 in ASAP while bagging. -
Most likely. With anything having a good knowledge of what you are working with helps. I am not sure how they decommission them. I know with old cannons and howitzers they pour concrete in the barrel. With time and proper tools, that can be chipped away and cleaned. It also would depend on what kind of rocket launcher. Some are electronic, some are a firing pin I would imagine. You can find anything over the internet now a days though. You can make replacement parts if needed. This, however, still doesn't concern me. Finding the rocket would be the hard part
-
You make a very good point. Here in PA, you can buy pepper spray at convenient stores as the "impulse buy" stuff. As for the rocket launcher, I know someone who has a not working one. Nothing wrong with that. I can also own a fully automatic assault rifle here too. If I had the money, I could have just about any kind of weapon I wanted. Only thing this fella did wrong was having them illegally. I could care less if someone has whatever weapon in their home. Like I said before, some people just like to collect stuff. No intention of ever using them, so why bother getting the licenses and junk. Also people DO prepare for what can happen. There was a time when people all over the country were building bomb shelters and stock piling them with everything they could fit. Just because Cuba isn't threatening us with nukes, does that mean we can't be prepared?
-
I would definitely sport a rocket launcher if I could find one. People who have a lot of weapons are always automatically deemed unsafe/crazy/terrorist. Maybe he just likes to collect stuff? I know people who have crazy collections of stupid stuff. Like a stamp collection... crazy in my eyes!

What does being an EMT have to do with anything? I have a security system sitting in my basement meant for a corporate type building, cameras and all. My friend works for a company installing them. They upgraded, and were just going to throw it out. It's not hard at all to get stuff like that. Big companies just throw it away when they get new stuff.
