  1. I want cake!
  2. Brett, I used the Brady series. But these other guys are right. I used many other resources other than the text. The book that came with it, was mostly pharmacology stuff. Use multiple resources for all information.
  3. Contact your local AHA training facility. California AHA Offices and this too CPR Instructor Info hope that helps
  4. Happy Bday you old fart! Hope it's a good one for ya!
  5. I always hated that statement as well. A lot of your treatment comes from the equipment. You generally can't just look at your patient and start treating them without using the monitor and other equipment. Although vitals do make a difference in what you do, they aren't everything, especially in this situation. I would have crapped a cinder block. The ECG section is a fantastic idea. Post an interesting strip, explain it, patient condition... I'm all for that! I'd lurk around that section quite a bit. Great thinking DOC!
  6. I used the drug guide that came with my Paramedic Care text books. The workbooks all had cards in the back as well, which I used too. I also used various websites and software programs.
  7. flickr or photobucket, insert link
  8. there are plenty of free ones!
  9. So, I am super bored... what are some good movies to watch?
  10. So when are you giving me lessons?
  11. Of course there is nothing wrong with double checking your meds. I have several programs on my phone/pda for it. Many times you just draw a blank when there is tons of other stuff going on. But, she asked for help on studying for her test
  12. do you HAVE to pay the subscription? Unless they are forcing people to do it, then how is there any harm done. I'm not forced to subscribe where I live. If I don't, and need an ambulance, I have to pay the bill (well not really since I'm a member but you see my point). It's meant to make things easier for people on their wallets IF they need the service. I am a paying member of AAA. I don't have to be, and I haven't needed their service in all the years I have been driving. It is peace of mind knowing they are there IF I need them, instead of having to pay a huge bill for * service.
  13. Good point.. I'm sure if this happened to someone else, she would be so far up their ass about it she would fart out their breath mints.
  14. Do what spenac said. write, read, listen.. repeat! repetition is the key, over and over and over! you have to memorize them, nothing to learn about them really.
  15. oh, so it's alright for someone to accidentally kill someone/something... but only if they feel bad about it, gotchya!
  16. I agree, accident or not... it's still terrible. I'm sure this didn't happen on purpose, well at least pretty sure. People and their causes don't always mean they do what they preach. The dog was old, and had a lot of problems, so maybe it was their way of letting the dog die? But I sure hope not! Doesn't matter though, even if it were an accident, it's still wrong. A lot of "accidents" happen, and the person responsible still has to pay the piper for it. Saying "ooops I'm sorry, it was an accident", doesn't fly for other crimes.
  17. I wasn't around? Now that is strange
  18. no excuse... no matter what cause she was fighting for. animal cruelty is a crime... she should suffer for it
  19. I'm going to have to agree with chbare and vent on this. So, instead of retyping up what they mentioned in my own words I will spare you the hassle of reading it all over again. First of all though, what kind of "nurse" are we talking about? Every time I have been to the NH, I rarely even see an RN. As for the doctor, most are so high and mighty with non smelling poops, they don't even bat an eye to listen to what a "lowly EMT" has to say. Either that, or it wasn't "their patient" and they don't want to get involved. And yes, these things happen a lot sadly. I could tell stories all day about stuff like this. For example, the nurse who gave the diabetic water and was stumped as of why their sugar was so low.
  20. what? I'm not your computer fixer guy anymore?
  21. idiots. policy where I work, and every other place is "when you are not in the ambulance, it is to be locked." we used to move peoples ambulances that left them running at the ER when they took patients inside.. fun stuff
