  1. Surely, that has to suck. Dust has a pretty good point though. If you need a cop, how else are you supposed to get a hold of them? It's next to impossible to get in contact with one with actually flagging one down. They don't make their station numbers accessible to the public. Technically, this lady had a valid reason to call 911, she was in fact, robbed. Amongst other things such as false advertisement and not receiving products paid for. Would I have called 911? No probably not, I would just have made a scene.
  2. Reminds me of a commercial that has nothing to do with what is being advertised.
  3. You can copy/paste the article here so we can all read it if we need to sign up. Hope he is alright and they catch the donkey that did this to him!
  4. That just means people will have to go back to training and complain about it I for one, think it is awesome and all for new toys to play with.
  5. According to my more geekier friends than I, the suggestion have been "use a perl script, a google search should bring up results for something that was already written".
  6. Same here, but I might just need a bucket for people to put money into for me to help along the way
  7. Pretty neat. I read something awhile ago, about contact lenses (corrective or not) that when scanned using a IR device or something, it would give a BGL reading. They were also working on the same device about able to read basic vital signs. I will try to track down the article.
  8. oh snap! how are you going to prepare for that one?
  9. I am in agreement with ch on this. Excessive use of force, totally uncalled for. Cops like this donkey, need serious reality checks. Hopefully, a huge check to the family from his pocket.
  10. That movie is basically porn with some killin in it. good stuff
  11. Very poorly handled indeed! The ambulance had a patient, in an emergency. The police pulled over an ambulance going en-route to the hospital with a patient. Like Chris said, they should be charged with endangering the patient. Show some professional courtesy. It's not like they were going to get lunch. The police could very well have gone to their station and sorted it out there. Just another bad cop, giving all other cops a bad name.
  12. I want one! I should just go take his, since well.. I am much more qualified to use that stuff, aside from the trach kit. It would sit in my closet with my other jump kit I never use or take with me any where. He needs to add one of those electronic BP cuffs, a heart monitor, and add one of those portable x-ray machines into this "free candy" van.
  13. anyone else care what this guy says or think? I surely don't Good video even though I don't like rap music
  14. my whacker kit consists of a few pair of gloves in a ziplock baggy, a pocket mask, and road flares. I rule.
  15. This guy needs to be smacked, with a bowling ball and have this stuff confiscated. Also, everyone on that forum seems to be a moron.
  16. There was, it was called "Paramedic's"
  17. A few things in that article concerned me when reading it. He didn't feel the 'elephant sitting on his chest like other patients said', so now they weren't convinced it was serious? Took them a few minutes to get vitals? At least a 12 lead was done though. Showed abnormalities, but I would like to see what they were. Since they still weren't convinced it was serious at that point still. They defibrillated him several times, but gave him pain meds so it didn't hurt as much? Maybe they meant cardioversion?
  18. Sure Ben, it's only about 8hrs drive away
  19. It's your protocols, the scope of practice and your standing orders in LA County. They suck.
  20. First off, yes, the ECG thing you are going is pretty cool and helpful to others who need the help with them, including myself. Second, this particular strip, was not "clickable", and therefor unable to make larger, unless you enlarged your whole screen (the whole forum/thread included). Third of which is just a suggestion. People who wish to contribute and answer the strip, they should do so using the "Insert Spoiler" option. Using this will allow others who want to discuss what is going on, and not see the results? Then have a discussion about it after the matter.
  21. I will give the show a shot. Television series are made for the viewers to keep them entertained and coming back for more. That being said, like others mentioned, it would be pretty boring to watch "real EMS". The show isn't a documentary about EMS. Remember the series "Paramedics" on Discovery Health I think it was on? It was interesting to watch since I knew what was going on. After a few episodes though, it got boring and I stopped watching it. Now, the show is not on at all anymore. Judging by that video clip, it almost appears that the show won't focus just on the thrills and spills with non stop shove it on your face action of stuff that happens once in a blue moon situation, rather than twenty times a day. Hopefully, and it seems to me, it will also touch on the softer side of the profession, and the personal lives of the characters. Such as how it affects them, their home life, down time and how they just chill and defuse themselves. We will see. Hopefully, it doesn't end up like "Saved" I didn't even make it through a commercial preview of that crap.
