  1. I plan on watching it, I personally think Rescue Me is an interesting show to watch. I'm not there to watch some guy be a fire fighting, I'm there for the story line. Same reason why I'll watch Saved and why I've watched ER for so long.
  2. The only two beefs I have with NR are that the test is poorly written, and that I don't like the CE setup. I'm finding that I'm taking more away from the online CE then most of the face to face CE I've attended at different services, conventions, etc.
  3. Hmm, intereseting....there aren't a lot of people speaking up.
  4. I guess other fields must get paid bad in those areas, I just can't see someone being able to live on less then $10 an hour let alone $6.75 an hour I love what I do too, but I'm not going to starve and do with out.
  5. Hmm, funny.....wouldn't you be the idiot if you can't tell what a joke is. To make it easier for you next time, when someone uses an "emoticon" after text, and it appears to be one of laughing, smiling, or joking manner, we call that a pretty clear sign it is a joke. Also, in America we use this thing called spell check when we don't know how to spell. (accommodation)
  6. LTAC hospitals here (Houston) range from a small rehab facility (similar to a nursing home) to an actual hospital (Triump, Kindred, Memorial Hermann Cont. Care. Some have ICU's, OR's, labs, etc. They ALL lack an ER.
  7. One question, how cute is your wife or girlfriend? I work in the ghetto, they would cut you up and eat you alive.
  8. Tony never had anything after Who's The Boss. With that said, it depends on the person we are talking about. I believe that there are providers who are capable doing their job great, and then there are others who I think would be better off driving a tow truck. However; if we are going to point fingers, then I think the same could be said for Canada, and the rest of the world.
  9. There weren't a whole lot of ALS questions on my NR test, most of them were basic level questions. I know it is important to test the basic level of most; but I think that 180 questions isn't enough to see if someone is capable of being a paramedic.
  10. Just thought I would throw this little bit of information in. Most EMT-I classes taught by colleges here in Texas do cover the use of Narcan by the EMT-I.
  11. I've never had that problem, checking the BGL is right there in the list of vitals that we take after we make sure the person is alive. The fact that they still can't fix any other issues that might arise with the adminstering of Narcan.
  12. I'll either have to write one or conduct research to gain my bachelor's degree (non-EMS degree though). I think that it should be required, but honestly, how good of one are you expecting from a junior college? Most EMS programs don't require anything more then English II (if that at all).
  13. I don't see how being a veteran military medic is going to make you any better then a veteran street medic. I believe that everyone should have to meet the same requirements. I don't believe in giving someone a "boost" because of race or sex, the same goes for street time or military time.
  14. I believe it could have been the DMZ you spoke of, but I'm actually leaning more towards contamination. The reason being is that the patient was being treated at a local LTAC for respiratory failure. He was doing well, but then went outside with his wife for some sunlight. He came back and started to go down hill and was intuabted and placed on a vent. They staff believes that the patient might have taken or given crack cocaine by the wife.
  15. Yes it was, I'm waiting for this tox "expert" to email me back with some more info.
  16. OMG, I would laugh if someone tried to pay me $6.75 an hour. A lifeguard at the local pool makes $7.50.
  17. There is one doctor I know who hires pretty girls with no medical know-how.
  18. Yup, it is used just about on a daily basis donw here as well.
  19. Yes because we as paramedics only watch the screen...because we lack the ability to fix any problems that might occur. CPR and AED's don't fix SVT.
  20. No, they don't treat at all. They are just the EO, all they do is drive. I don't downgrade calls that often...it has to be a stubbed toe for me to not ride it. If I make the trip out there, I'll make the trip to the ER.
  21. She sucks, don't let her get to you. Just take what she did and remember it as what not to do.
  22. Lasting about 15 to 30 seconds?
  23. I've seen two ambulances with HFD that had paramedics as the drivers and EMT's as the incharge. Gotta love that EO test. I do wonder what the argument for removing paramedics is, I noticed someone selected that one.
  24. Why not, and we can give them one to stick on their truck just below the light bar with all the others. :thumbleft:
