Once again I say.....Treatment should not be withheld due to the personal belief of the healthcare provider .....The only way health care measures should be withheld are if it is the wish of the patient....This is about the patient here not us and our beliefs....and AK you are right leaves the door open for alot of scapegoats for the world of health care....

I had not read this post til VS was talking about it in the chatroom...he told me I needed to post my reply here...so here goes.....and I know that he is going to come in and try to tear it to shreds like he does everyone elses but oh well my thoughts and beliefs are my own and I have not nor will push my religous beliefs off on anyone else......I do not judge people for what they believe if they dont believe the same as me....IT IS NOT MY JOB TO JUDGE IT IS GODS'S JOB I was raised in a Christian home went to church on Sundays and I believe in God....but My beliefs are mine...I do not think that the Governement should allow a law that limits my ability to be treated due to my beliefs....or theirs. When I am on the back of that truck with the nice lights and sirens its not about me or what i believe it is what my patient believes, It is about what is best for them and what I can do to treat them. It is my job to do what my patient wants and needs not to condemn them or to judge them. The morning after pill thing....If a law is passed and my ems agency says i give it if they want it I will give it cause that is my job...We are here for the patients not ourselfs....it goes back to the saying....when you enter through the doors leave your ego behind...EMS is not about us as EMTB'S, EMTI'S, EMTP, It is about our patients ... if it wasn for our patients we would all be on the welfare line...it dont matter if it is emergent or not .....THE PATIENT IS ALWAYS NUMBER ONE....... I live in a small town we have several paid services and 3 volenteer services. Our dispatchers get who they can as fast as they can to the patient. The voleenteer services always mark on with our county so they know we are avaible when and if a call comes in. So we get paged first. Fire is different they page the closest department to the scene and if back up is needed then it comes from the neighboring departments. :angel12:

Suicide is a very touchy issue with me... I am a very strong willed independant person who believes that no matter how bad life is as long as you have breath in your body there is always a way out. Fight till you fall then get up dust off and Fight like hell til you find a way to make it better..... there is always one there somewhere sometimes you just have to look for it.....But four years ago suicide hit me like a ton of bricks....my dad killed himself....out of the blue no warning signs not even a kiss my ass world nothing...he just did it....and to this day i still wonder why?.....i just dont understand the concept of it...but anyway when I have a "potiental suicidal" patient..... I do the only thing i can do....and that is listen to them let them tell their stories if they are alert enough ...but i never judge them...sometimes i just have to keep quiet cause i do realize that not everyone in this world has the strength or will that i do...my closing feeling on this.... if they want to do it they will do it....if not they will do the attention getting thing til one of two things happen.....1. they get over whatever makes them think that life isnt worth living.....or 2. they accidently get it right....thanks for listening guys... Well I am with the ones that say every able body individual should have CPR but on the other hand if you aren't physically able to do it then you shouldn't do it. As far as kids having it i taught a class for a local agency that the kids were doing babysitting during the summer well needless to say i will never teach anyone CPR that does not want to really learn it. it was a total waste of time. If people want to learn i say go for it but if they didn't really want to learn it you are wasting your time.

on all the medical shows that are recreated i hate to see them do CPR as a CPR instructor i want to go smack the stuffings out of all those actors, and make them do it right. My sons think I am crazy when I watch those shows cause I am constantly picking out the flaws and they remind me that it is only a TV show and it isn't real.... kids gotta love them :!:
