On days like this I wish I had become a Constitutional Attorney.

The problem with Medical stuff is that if you mail it the health department takes a peek. Meds are definitely out but sterile equipment that are past their date can be "pack ratted" in. It is kind of weird because Mexico on one hand wants to act like they are first world with regulations and such, while on the other hand they have a all of the third worlds deficiencies in areas like EMS. I wear a helmet because I purchased my own. Most of the guys have not made that investment. I know of a lot of very poor services that can use a lot of help. For example; a FD that does not have a stretcher for their ambulance. They transport people on the floor or bench. Many EMT's purchase their own pulse ox and other equipment as well. Give me a chance to talk to some people and I will PM you. It will take about a week but I know we are very interested in your proposal. You did the right thing in reaching your embassy. The embassies are really good at helping grease the wheels. Many disputes are handled the way you saw, including MVCs. Once everyone has been payed, if there are no charges filed, then everyone gets to go home. Do you remember the name on the side of the ambulance or the hospitals? It would be interesting to know what level of care your insurance was willing to pay for or if they used social facilities.

"Six Calgary firefighters took a break from battling flames Thursday to help a Calgary family welcome a new baby into the world", I can almost hear them. "Roll up the hoses boys!" "Calgary is gonna have to burn eh, we have a baby to deliver!"
-
Strong work! Good on you!
-
At least now they know where babies come from.
-
Good on you for doing the best for your child. Pump and put it in the fridge. Just make sure you label it well.

The Riu Palace in the Rivera Maya is top notch. Tulum is very, very cool. He was most likely not bluffing. He would have eventually gotten around to the money part.
-
The Rivera Maya is the best area with the best Hotels. I work on these ambulances only in an area that is much poorer than Can Cun. We have to be very resourceful at times. The guys taking you were most likely EMT's. Medics are very rare in Mexico.. They usually make up for the lack of training with great soft skills. Did they wear protective head gear while transporting? I always wear a helmet. Mexican jails absolutely suck, they are more horrible than you can possibly imagine. There is no decent food, the water is contaminated, the living conditions are almost subhuman, sleeping on the floor with your back to your buddy with one eye open. Those guys were truly punished. After spending a week dick dodging they should be scared straight. All of that said all of you were very, very lucky. Most of the security in those areas are run by people other than the police. Very bad people that are not police. If these very bad people had decided to intervein instead of the police everyone would be telling a very different story ... or possibly someone wouldn't be telling any story at all. If the police were there it is because they had permission to handle the assault. You have no idea how truly fortunate you all are. If you chose to go back to Mexico on holiday, my best advice is that if the club is not directly run and managed by your hotel it is best to find other forms of entertainment. I am sorry your vacation was an ordeal but glad things went well for you in the end.

The former part of my post about hog strength and viciousness, is opinion as well and solely based on empirical observation. So an opinion that is quasi-countered by another opinion is sort of like a donkey talking about ears. I think I will go the way of others. It was nice exchanging opinions with you.

A 200 lb man is in no way stronger than a hog but the point I tried to make is that dogs are formidable animals. They are capable warriors and can easily injure a human. If you face off a evenly weighted human and wild hog the human will most likely loose. We catch and tie live hogs all the time, but could not do it without the dogs. Dogs are tough and determined animals. I have no problem with a dog getting shot. Animals only useful for the pleasure and produce they provide for humans. If they deviate from their intended purpose they become useless and often times dangerous.

A 50 lb dog can be a force to be reckoned with. I have hunted with 50 lb dogs that fight, catch and hold 200 - 250 lb wild hogs. Dogs have more fighting heart than possibly any other domestic animal. If a dog wants to hurt someone, it is certainly capable of doing it. I would never belittle a dog for weighing 50 lbs.

Jump into the conversation whenever you like. Welcome!

Sorry to hear about your dog Doc. I have always hated having to put one of my dogs to sleep. I am not an anthropomorphic kind of guy but it is weird how much they are missed. The police in my opinion did what they had to do even though the action decision was one that would potentially bring them a lot of post incident grief. I can't speak to what some policeman in Montana did but the guys in the video acted appropriately, I think.

Many of them no longer have teeth!!! Welcome to the forum!

One giant leap for a man who took a small step for all man kind

Lt. Armstrong, not only lives in the history books but in our hearts. Farewell to a Great American. -
I might be reading the tape wrong but it seems to me that the medic had students riding with him because he tells them to "get their glasses on". Who else and to whom else could he have been saying this? There is no way of knowing how many times they had already done this without getting caught. The fat latin guy seemed very comfortable with what he was doing, like he had practice. Putting on the Latex gloves, standing close as he increased his cussing, standing directly over Tomas when he threatened him and perpetrated the first assault. His partner was right there to start the beating as well. I would bet good money that these guys were not amateur beaters but masters of their art. Obviously this could possibly never be investigated or proved but these things never happen in a vacuum. That level of violence is rarely or never isolated. Wasn't the medic even laughing with the policeman over who was going to take Tomas? I do think the EMS team was not "johnny on the spot" with the airway management. The police had crushed his trachea and caused bleeding that obviously needed to be suctioned. Then they "helped him even more with that "spit bag" on his head. I did not hear anything about the measures to manage these conditions.

Interview for ED Tech Position (Paramedic)
DFIB replied to jamonic1's topic in General EMS Discussion
@jamonic1. It sounds like you have a plan and have thought this through . I wish you success at all of it. Come back and let us know how it turns out for you. I always like to hear good news! -
When I went through TEMS all of those advanced emergency procedures were in the manual but they told us not to worry about that part because we were EMT-B and they used the same manual for all levels of EMT's. The Tactical stuff was the same for everyone and different information for the different EMT levels, depending on if the class was EMT or Medic level.

Good on you, it is an adventure for sure. It is good to have you here! I am glad you decided to come out of the shadows.

Thanks for the timeline. That entire process reeks of a culture of corruption and cover up. The city, the department, and the DA were just going to let these guys walk away. Good on the people of Fullerton for demanding accountability. Being that his dad was a retired Sheriff he should know exactly what he is up against. You are right, these mes are cowards and sadistic bullies that went to far. I he should have been charged with murder in the first degree. Ramos threatened Tomas, Told him what he was going to do, and then proceeded to do it. I think the most incriminating part is when Ramos puts on his latex gloves and says "see these hands, they are getting ready to f@ck you up" and the admission that he took his tazer butt "and beat his face to hell" Yea, he knew exactly what he was doing. I wonder if it was his first or if they made a habit of rolling the homeless? The idea that a uniformed policeman can threaten, bully and assault a citizen and then beat you to death when you try to defend yourselves is pretty scary. The other side of the story is sad situation the mentally ill that live on our streets. These accused murderers thought Thomas was just another homeless guy they could use ot boost their sick self esteems by beating . It turns out that as with many people that have been hurt by mental illness Tomas has a familiy that loves him and will sure as heck come to their defense out of love. I do hope the accused get all the justice they deserve and more. Maybe in prison they will understand what it is to be on the other side of the coin. In prison they can learn what it is like to be the little guy.

There are many other options in the medical field besides EMS. If you are really interested in healthcare work, by all means, don't be discouraged and go for it.
