  1. Paramedicmike - You mean that guy is from Nigeria?!?! I sent all my info to Kenya!! The guy said he was Obamas slush fund manager and was trying to get the $$ back to the US before his grandma spent it all on statues of little Bama. Crap!
  2. I hope you are looking for good looking personnel, that’s all you will find here! You might try the Aussies. They are all funny and talk weird as well.
  3. Depends, If it is a needle under the tongue or a 20 cc syringe up the butt ..... hmmmm ..... the needle doesn't seem that bad. I am interested in why IV injection would be called "mainlining" among healthcare professionals and be frowned upon or made illegal. I understand phlebitis is a concern but can be avoided by proper dilution of the meds. Would you please explain.
  4. If you enjoy historical fiction from the Viet-nam era Leonard B. Scott has a good series.
  5. It is a short read but an kinda general overall interesting book for me has been Niccolo Machiavelli's "The Prince"
  6. If you can not get an IV started and meds are desperately needed can't you inject directly into the vein or go for the bum? How about a sublingual injection? Absorption should be pretty quick SL. Edited for sp.
  7. You work with the Amish? That is way cool in my book. I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Elton Lehman on some medical mission caravans in the third world. He is the author of the book House Calls and Hitching Posts. He was a really cool guy. I have been curious about rural medicine and the Amish every since. Have you ever seen them soak wounds in kerosene? Jump in the forum and participate. There are some rural medics that have a lot to offer. Welcome to the city!
  8. Nope. Not the artery. Since I wasn't thinking of taping an artery, any thoughts on a popliteal IV? I think nurses can put in an arterial cath to monitor BP in the radial artery but it may be a Doc. level procedure.
  9. I will take the NREMT next month. I have some friends that say it was hard and others that opine that the test is not that challenging. What do you guys think? Is NREMT difficulty overrated? Danny - Congratulations Hermano, That job is out there and has your name on it, bird dog it. bite it in the butt and get lock jaw! Really I am happy for you Bro.
  10. That is fantastic that they would let kids out of school for deer season. We always had to play hookey.
  11. We have cotton tips, needle tips, blade tips, finger tips etc. Study hard, pay attention in clinicals, memorize everything and learn that ASAP does not carry any influence in this forum. Patience and humility go much further.
  12. Nope. Not tthe IOs. Since I wasn't thinking of drilling a bone, any thoughts on a popliteal IV?
  13. When you guys say leg, are you refering to a popliteal line?
  14. EJ? I looked it up. Duh!
  15. There was this one time after a sports accident that this really hot medic chick evaluated my injuries. I wish she had stolen my number! Fixed my ankle but broke my heart!

    RIP Chief

It is so encouraging to see acts of kindness by the people in our profession. I am glad the chief got what he wanted and in the scenario it occurred. Hugs to the medic if he is a chick and if he is a dude, well hug him too for me. Condolences to your department.
  17. Hey amigo, I didn't think you were still around. Your leather skeleton is kind of ominous. I liked the rainbow clown more. It seemed kinda festive. Good to see you.
  18. No kidding amigo. Can you imagine how much effort the parolee or migrant worker doing the dishes exerts? I wonder if they ever sneeze of spit in the dishwater. We would be better off eating with the blades.
  19. Thanks guys, I read the articles and was a little surprised but it makes perfect sense to me after reading it a couple of times. THe Epi angle as well. What about body position? Do you think it would make any difference at all?
  20. I will make a post and then read your article. First you say the respiratory rate is normal, and the baby is conscious? As a EMT-Basic. I would get the child 100% O2 delivery and position the child tilted to the left side and in the shock position. Possibly even lower the head a little. I have questions as to what I might could do if my scope of practice were greater. Could I give a child that small something to vasodilate and increase heart contractility? A little epi possibly? I think i would bag this baby with 15 lts/min to try to achieve 100% O2
  21. Very good point but it makes me wonder, did the medics not trust the science or were they just nasty? New equipment and no M2M. 10-4.
  22. But wouldn't clorox kill everything?
  23. 1. Romney is a Mormon? The current POTUS is a Marxist. Hmmmmm let me think!?! 2. It was probably thet Andrews guy that used to work for Cain. 3.I don't know what speaking white is but Cain does see the world from a different reference point than POTUS. I will vote against Obama regardless of the candidate. 4. I don't know about the allegations. He may have harrased them and may not. Who knows? The proof is in the pudding so to speak. If they have proof they should show it. If there is no proof then he needs to sue them for damages.
