  1. meh, I just hate everyone equally. No need to make a list. lol
  2. Sure thing Marty! the T-bird is in the 6th edition. I haven't completed the whole book as yet, but I will highly recommend it to anyone without any worries. I am extremely happy with it!
  3. Thank you sir. I knew I wasn't hearing things. Thanks for the appropriate title, it escaped me when I posted.
  4. Are the songs," Maryland, My Maryland" and " Oh Christmas tree " the same tune? I heard it on the weekend while watching the Preakness and thought they were.
  5. LMAO! Tell us how you really feel hammer? :laughing3:
  6. I don't think it is a beef necessarily. I believe, as some others do, that Fire and EMS should be 2 entirely separate entities. Cross training doesn't work. The majority of fire-medics would much rather fight fires. Since however, the number of "real" fire calls has diminished over the years due to better fire codes for new buildings as well as public education, EMS is a necessary evil for the FD. Now back to the original topic.
  7. Dan, I would assume you would have to re-take the course if it has been over a year. I know it is that way here in NC.
  8. The NREMT-B exam is 150 questions. I'm not sure what the passing grade is, as I wrote the NC exam, but I believe it to be 70%. That leaves a lot of room for error meaning you can miss 45 questions and still pass. http://www.nremt.org/about/about_exams.asp I'm not sure if you're asking how long your certification is good for, or how long you have before writing the exam for your Intermediate. If it is the latter, I believe it to be 1 year but I could be wrong. Hope this helps some. Good luck.
  9. I was thinking the same thing! :laughing3:
  10. Wow Dix, what a dilemma! I will not for one minute try and tell you what to do. I can tell what I might do. The smaller company would work for me. I much prefer the more " family " atmosphere to the larger services. My personal well being is paramount. I would consider the difference in pay, weigh it against being stationed as opposed to riding around all day, the opportunity to attend medic school and their willingness to work with me on that. I would also consider the shifts. A lower call volume isn't necessarily a bad thing when attending school. I hope it helped you some and good luck with you're decision.
  11. I've been there Nate, in a semi  I completely understand where you're coming from.
  12. Very funny SingleLovingLife. I do have some of those in my repertoire. . Some I use on a regular basis, particularly this one, " Do I look like a people person to you?" On second review, I can see at least 6 that I could use with pt's, if it was appropriate.
  13. Just an update on the driver of this ambulance. Not exacty a saint. I'm actually surprised the insurance company even allowed this guy to drive. http://www.jems.com/products/ambulances/articles/104398/
  14. Dude, you said it , not me. Please try and lighten up a little. See the winking smilie at the end of my post?
  15. Because Janmarie3 is correct on all accounts. No further conversation required. There is no rebuttal for this.
  16. Actually, it was in the PA skills sheets as JPINFV posted. I've haven't heard of this acronym either in my short career.
  17. I agree with the above poster. Hopefully the state you are moving to wouldn't be so anal and let you take a refresher course and then challenge the exam. I have been through the same scenerio as you. It will be a minimum of 3 mths before you will receive work authorization, so you might as well take the refresher course. The Nat'l registry doesn't require a SSN to write their exam. However, you wont be able to view your results on-line without it. Snail mail will be the way to receive them without a SSN.
  18. I thought nobody saw that! It was cold out to. Is nothing sacred anymore? TPBM used their Ambulance as a brothel while staged.
  19. PRPG, you depraived soul Underdog was even in a Capital One commercial not that long ago. disclaimer: I'll have to trust me spelling on this one. The Spelling cow wouldn't work for me :banghead:
  20. " There's no need to fear, Unnnderdog is here!"
  21. Count on it. I was referring to skills, not education as I have found out. I agree, it has been flogged long enough. Banish me to the bar. :occasion5:
  22. Your post is in effect, accurate. the only part you missed was the 120 hrs of skills.
  23. Hey fire. I'm truly sorry you had a terrible shift. I wish there were some inspiring words I could come up with, but everything sounds so cliche. When kids are involved it is a true tragedy. I hope you can take some solice in the fact that I feel your pain. That's is what this extended family at EMTCity as well as your entire EMS brotheren are here for. We are only human. Sometimes traumas get the better of us. If you can't vent to us, who can you vent to? Your reaction to your shift just proves your human. No worries here. Peace
  24. Isn't that what I said? I agree, I never use the computer generated narrative. It doesn't have the ability to say anything you noticed or what the pt. told you. A stupid feature that should be banned.
