What I want to know is why the DA hasn't lodged at least manslaughter charges against the punk who was bored and was seen smiling and acting as if it was no big deal that he started the fire intentionally. he should be sentenced to at least 25 lashes a day with the cat-o-nine for the next ten years. -

Kate : my wife started wearing compression socks a couple years ago after she would have wicked calf cramps and lower leg pain from working 12's on the hard tile floors. they make a world of difference. Also she found some merrill shoes with a really cushioned sole that help . -
we will have to agree to disagree on this partially : DOC Excellent customer service is required to be a good provider. Not every Patient needs my awesome medical skills to save them . Many just need an ear to listen to them ,a hand to hold, and someone who knows where to call to find them assistance getting help outside of the ambulance ride to the emergency room. There are many providers with excellent medical skills and knowledge that have the personalities of allycats on the prowl. Not who I want to take care of my parents or neighbors.

In our state {Maine} we are licensed as providers, not certified, same in NH , Ma ,CT, VT ,RI and many other states. Yes once you have IC licensure and training you may teach a Basic class anywhere that the need is. They are run under the auspices of the EMS regional office/ training center who co-ordinate the State exams and paperwork process. We have a Friend in Mass who runs a private for profit EMS training center and has been doing so for over 25 years. She works through several community collages and does several "local " classes for small services around central /eastern Mass every year. She also has a Home base school in an old elementary school that she leases part of. She is a certified training center by Mass OEMS . I am including a link to her school site here: http://www.starfireems.net/ not as advertising , but as a resource to finding more info on bring local training to your Reps. constituents . Jane loves to talk EMS education. So you see there are many ways to bring the training out to the weeds. Now your next issue to deal with is how to get the commitment from the youngsters to become providers and give back to their communities. Let us know if you find a solution to that. Ed

congratulations on getting hired. A 6 month probation is standard time for them to find out if they want to keep you , & if you can handle the job. It also gives them a period where they can let you go without lots of recourse for your job performance. here are a few pearls of wisdom for your new job Always be on time for your shift. 15 minutes early is not unexpected so you can get your stuff settled in and find out from the off going crew any issues ongoing. always come in with the attitude that you are going to give your customers the best you are capable of. Always treat all customers the same , whether they are rich or poor, live in a mansion or a homeless camp. Always treat your partner with respect while dealing with the public. Always take care of yourself. Eat healthy foods , not mickey D;s Do exercise and stretch all you muscles well . Keep your back straight when lifting. Don't buy cheap boots you will be in them many hours a day. As to how you will handle whatever the job throws at you, only you can know that for certain. Each of us has a different coping mechanism.

now that we have an idea of what your goals are, it is a little easier to provide more information. Initial EMT Basic training is not something that can be acquired online or by other form of distance education. There is a very large hands on assessment portion of the class that occurs on a nightly basis to go with the evenings lecture of didactic material. In other words we give you a lecture on airway management and then go to a hands on portion to teach those skills to assess, control and intervene using various airway adjuncts. The entire course works this way. Read the subject material, in the book prior to the class, receive the lecture on the subject , learn the hands on skill portion of the subject. What many places have in place is to regionalize training classes and continuing education classes. Having trained instructor co-ordinators teaching locally gets the most bang for the buck to smaller departments in rural areas. An example: My wife is a certified IC and can teach initial EMT education courses and continuing education courses locally. We were required to take an IC course along with maintaining our EMS licenses. to get this certification requires taking an 80 hour course that deals mainly with adult education tactics & skills along with honing the ability to teach EMS knowledge.skills She has a masters in education an Intermediate EMS license & a BSN. Is she over qualified to teach EMS courses? Maybe, unless you want to up the ante and improve the level of education that your prehospital providers bring to your door at 3 AM when someone you love is in a crisis. the next important component is to make sure that once you have students obtain their license to practice , they maintain their knowledge and receive regular education in the ever changing practice of prehospital medicine. This is not something you can take a short adult ed class in and then go forward happily ever after. I'd wager that many of us here at the City receive in excess of a hundred hours continuing education every year. in an effort to remain at the top of our profession. enough info for you to ruminate on for a while and take back to your representative boss.

Well: I've worked with many law enforcement officers and have several in the family or very close friends. All of the ones I know can't be bothered to write a juvie up for "MIP" charge as it will not go any further . The normal response is to make the juvies pour it out on the ground and walk home from wherever they were imbibing. UNLESS they decide to be assholes. , Then they get put in the back of the cruiser and made to call mommy from the jail to come get them. Under 16 yo's get a call to mommy to come get them. this is standard policy is several states and jurisdictions that I know of.

I do admit to drinking alcohol prior to my 21st birthday. But the legal drinking age was 18 in my state. I did not however ever get a citation for being a minor in possession of alcohol. Most law enforcement officers can't be bothered to write that ticket as they are almost never prosecuted by the DA's office, unless the teenager has an attitude and mouths off to the officer, or is found to be in violation of other laws at the same time. My guess would be that there were extenuating circumstances to get prosecuted for just being in possession. Just a quick tip for the future : alcohol use does not fit in with professional EMS.

SO pull your panties back out of the bunch you've got them in sonny We get asked this same question many times a year and always by someone "who only did it once and has learned from their mistakes. The three of us that have answered your question have between us over 100 years of experience in the industry. We have a Paramedic ambulance service owner, A recently retired service chief who dealt with risk management and driver training issues in a 300 truck fleet setting, and a flight Paramedic / PA with wide experience in multiple facets of prehospital care in small & large city settings. We are telling you what we know from decades of experience in dealing with people who come to us with your application records. Don't like the truth then you have another issue. All three of us read your statements the exact same way. If we erred in our conclusions , then maybe an english & grammar course would help you communicate with us in a clearer dimension. You use the argument that you know of a 19 yo from your class that "has a job lined up with a fire dept." That may be just bragging on his part as fire service interview and background checks are very inclusive including peer panel interviews. I have sat on those boards and looked at candidates social media exploits. Gives those in the position to hire lots of easy toss that app in the round file excuse. Then again that is someone you were in class with not you. shedding blame or diversion of the facts don't change them. good luck junior. you will need it

SO like i totally get it: I'm trying to guess what it is that is freaking you out so much about this. If you are under 25 and have points on your license, many commercial insurance underwriters are hesitant to cover you. if you are over 25 a following to closely ticket means you have an increased risk factor documented. Not talking about major accidents or DWI's here , but any points. The ambulance company can only do what the insurance carriers tell them. Let's do a review: at your young age you have: an alcohol violation a property damage accident a following to closely citation. That your letting us know about. Would you feel comfortable putting someone with that on their record behind an emergency vehicle ?????????

: Subject: Woman stops grizzly attach with .25 caliber pistol Woman Stops Grizzly Attack With .25 Caliber Pistol This is a story of self control and marksmanship. A woman survived a grizzly bear attack with one well placed shot from her itsy bitsy ..25 caliber Beretta Jetfire. These are her own words.: While out hiking in Alberta Canada with my boyfriend, we were surprised when a huge grizzly bear came charging at us out of nowhere. She must have been protecting her cubs because she was extremely aggressive. If I had not had my little Beretta Jetfire I would not be here today! I yanked it out of my purse and fired one shot. It hit my boyfriend in his kneecap and the bear caught him easily. While the grizzly mauled the poor cripple, I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. I love that pistol. I'll find other boyfriends. -
correct Doc :: The only thing I have here is a couple old wood backboards. I have them mounted as shelves in my shop.

The scary thing is ::: I've used all of them except the heartstart many times during my career. The heartstart was a piece of junk from the beginning. when using the thumper and a demand valve resuscitator , you could drain every O2 tank on the truck in about 20 minutes flat. the thermal paper on the LP-5 was a pain in cold weather unless you kept it in a heated area. I still have a LP-3 in the barn that was in use up until about 15 years ago at a small service
