  1. I dunno Doc: she made a lot of good ole boys eat her dust today.
  2. DOC: Are you sure the voices you hear aren't telling you they are allergic to everything except Dilaudid ??????
  3. just finished snowblowing the first 12 inches. Still snowing hard. About 2 inches an hour through the rest of the night as far as the weather guessers are concerned. That 5 weekends in a row with more than a foot.
  4. I can build you a rack to stretch you clutzy. Ought to be able to get you to 5'4" in a few days.
  5. A good preceptor needs to have the knowledge and the ability to share without being denigrating to their students. Many have forgotten they were new themselves once upon a time . Our job as a preceptor is to allow the student to grow in both knowledge and self assurance. Many come with lots of education and need their street smarts taught in the field.
  6. more dangerous than being a mine disposal technician in Afghanistan. Rest in peace to those killed in this crash.
  7. My thinsulate duck hunting bibs are much warmer than my turnout pants and coat. Pus they are much more flexible and easy to don. they have zippers up the side all the way up to mid thigh, you can put them on without taking your winter boots off.. Turnout boots do not really keep your feet warm with steel sole plates and arch supports. Our uniform parkas have both the BBP lining and a removable inner fleece inner liner under the high vis dayglow lime ANSI 3 outer shell. A FF balaclava is a good idea for head and face protection from severe cold & wind. Until it ices up from exhaling through it As far as limiting time outside in Extreme conditions, You sometimes don't have the resources available to make that happen. In rural areas, The next due service could be 30 minutes to an hour away.
  8. Look as far away from downtown baltimore as you can tolerate for a commute for both more reasonable prices , taxes and school quality. Crime in the city is high. Western MD has some country towns & cities and the PA border is not too far north. Have friends on the eastern shore, Very pricey real estate & taxes. Also have friends up above Frederick that have a 4 acre homesite with all of the neighbors having similar properties. Good schools and nice area of state with a small town feel. Prices are more reasonable, not sure about the taxes.
  9. About the only thing that can be done is to have the fire guys pull out tarps and block the wind the best they can. If the weather conditions are really ferocious I always put on my insulated arctic boots and " thinsulate bibs used for duck hunting. They are wind proof and reasonably waterproof. They may not look like a uniform , but they do keep me warm. We use space blankets and hot packs for Pt's and if we have access will get a warmed IV running.Our IV warmer bag is 12 volt and can be left plugged in and leave the spiked bag inside & warm while infusing. The odds are your pt was in trouble and might not have survived the injuries even without the added problem of hypothermia.
  10. Thats hardly worth getting the snowblower out of the shed for. :-} Up here we call that just a dusting
  11. Is Haley Barbour still running the mob down there?
  12. Ah yeah! Mt Desert is home of the mega rich for many years. going back into the late 1800's Not to say that we don't have a lot of starter castles here . Quite a few 6000 sq ft Mc Mansions built in recent years. Makes our investment very good in the long term. There are some places that still have reasonable prices. Just not on the coast.
  13. The sheep were too short! He had to bring a step stool with him .:-}
  14. So will the DA charge the driver that ran the light and hit them with murder or tickle it down to a silly traffic charge? Reports are he was under the influence.
  15. we paid 25k for our house and 1/4 acre on the island back in 1994. 5 years ago we bought 32 acres up in Dover Foxcroft for 30k on a town maintained road at Sebec lake.
  16. Please do not feed the short little beings that live under the bridge. :-}
  17. I have several customers from NY city. They own vehicles and have licenses but leave the cars here in Maine at their summer homes and take the train, bus or fly back & forth to the city. Parking is scarce and if you have to garage it, could cost 4-800 / month just for a parking spot.
  18. TRAN SCARE is the same as driving uhaul trucks. They use them to move mob money
  19. Most of us picked up on him from post #1 Ruff.
  20. Our intercept service is run by a hospital organization. They are using Tahoes with all the options for police interceptor. That Improves the suspension and handling and include the oil & trans coolers etc. They buy them from a dealer in Texas that specialized in police/ fire service vehicles. Plenty of room for equipment in the rear with a cabinet built for the purpose of keeping everything secure. They are required to have all the same equipment as an ambulance minus the stretcher and backboards here in Maine.
  21. Thank You to admin
  22. What are we going to do now that admin has banned the latest short little being that lives under the bridge??? :-}
  23. You can never base a "what if " on what others have seen. The whole thing with computer adaptive testing , is it will change the questions depending on the quality of your success in earlier questions. It adapts to your correct or incorrect answers on a given subject. Shades of Orwells 1984 and big brother all over again
  24. The OP was a 12 yo short little being from under a bridge with visions of grandeur! Now he's been banned :-}
