  3. one of my drivers was a scoutmaster and had asked me to do a first aid CPR course for them. They got about 25 hours in total and red cross certified. He worked it into a merit badge program for them. If they have any fledgling Eagle scouts looking for a community service project then this would be a perfect match. Community CPR & AED training.
  4. I remember years ago when you first started talking about going forward. Glad to see you found a way to move up. good for you. Have a good friend who is a Paramedic and a P,A,C, that works at the trauma center in Portland full time and several other ER's & clinics per diem as his schedule allows.
  5. By the way Mike: Congratulations on finishing your degree to PA. Occupation:PA-C, Paramedic It's been a long road for you. Ed

  7. Wonder if he has his own cadmium plated sphincter reducer ??? He'll need one in jail.
  8. I like the concept Clutzy. Are you still on the rez? Are there boyscout/girlscout organizations in your area? get them involved in taking the CPR program as a merit badge, tied in with their health / first aid requirement. that might also get the parents involved. Good luck

At least I now know why we have all the mass shootings and other assaults on civilization. according to him full arrest got 5 lpm of O2 cpr 1 epi & 2 defibrilators, All better now
  10. While your at it: throw away your Galls catalog You will save a lot of money not buying things you can't use . Do you have a littman cardio II scope yet? You need one to differentiate S1- S2 sounds and to tell the difference in bowel sounds so you know if the patient is F.O.S.

  13. having started out in the business as an ambulance attendant back in 71 and moved up through the food chain to being a chief of the service in my semi retirement gig, there have been many changes along the way. I remember when we went to being radio dispatched , so we didn't have to find a pay phone to get our next call. how many of you youngsters here have ever seen a pay phone??? We have come a long way from load & go, to providing definitive care on scene. I am a fervent believer in community paramedicine as a way for us to provide better service for our customers , and to help keep them in their homes while avoiding needless emergency room visits for a problem that could have been taken care of in their home by a qualified paramedic . Lowering costs across the board while helping our patients and neighbors stay healthier.
  14. kind of ironic that a blast stronger than the hydrogen bomb dropped on hiroshima happens at a former soviet secret nuclear weapons production site, and was caused by a meteor from space.
  15. Please don't continue to throw food scraps to the little being under the bridge.
  16. You do realize this incident happened in the jungles of Papua New Guinea ???? That Dwayne practices as a remote sole source medic at a remote industrial site.
  17. A MFR is equivalent to a boy scout first aid merit badge holder. Thats why You should not be carrying a BVM in your personal whacker bag if you don't understand they are single patient use & then disposed of.
  18. And you will open yourself up to a lawsuit for practicing medicine without a license. The state WILL come down on you and hammer you for unlicensed practice. You will not be covered by good samaritan laws.
  19. Or the training
  20. you forgot a porter to tote all that stuff for you. Add in enough potable water to keep yourself alive for several days. and a roll of TP cause you will have a need at some point. You should also have a personal bug out bag with sleeping gear and change of clothes and personal necessities to sustain for a few days. Cert teams are designed to assist/ augment local authorities in disaster management. A tornado wipes out your town , you search for survivors. Then you search for and help remove the bodies or parts there of . dubya invented them because he was using all of the state national guards to fight his multiple wars in the middle east.
  21. Wow a bloodhound puppy???? Welcome to the city

  23. Richard: BNAS used to be here in Brunswick Maine. Opened as a WWII training base for allied pilots and was closed by dubya when Maine didn't vote for him in his first term. For several decades it was home to the Navy's subhunter P-2 & P-3 orions. The logic behind closing it was to save 400 million dollars over the next ten years. Yet when they moved all the squadrons to Florida, [ home of governor Jeb Bush], they spent over a billion dollars to buy florida real estate, so they could build all new buildings to house them. Last operational active duty military airbase in New England. Gone are all the SAC bases, & All the Navy Airbases. Some have been repurposed as civilian airfields and a few have reservist squadrons left.
  24. Yep:: thats a serious snowblower. Lots of folks up north have them. Back when I was in the Navy we had to maintain the runways at the Naval air station in readiness condition 24/7 no matter what mother nature dumped on us. We had 5 large Walter snowfighters with a 12 foot wide by 5 ft tall blower on the front power by a 450 hp diesel. Those sucka's could throw a two foot snowfall halfway into the next county
  25. Just enough time for a wannabe to be dangerous to the patient. Advanced first air is what they teach in cub scouts to get a merit badge. An hour on OB, backboarding & c-spine will not even begin to give the knowledge required to do any good . Unless it takes that long to teach you to call 911
