The vet clinic was closed and the janitor answered the door. Besides which this was an inbred pitbull mutt dumped by someone who didn't give a damn. Probably the runt of a litter bred for fighting. Now all the bleeding hearts will raise a bunch of money to spend on this dog instead of spending it to feed hungry children, or help homeless veterans.

Sorry Mobey: It's so dark and small as to be unviewable. Yep it's an ECG from a lifepack , other than that ????????

Does she have any after effects from the seizure activity? Like the vomiting? Not sure what you're asking Mobey: I was looking for any new stroke type deficits or other physical findings of loss of function , post seizure Pupils, nystygmus petichia again: 12 lead shows? Amlodipine, Metoprolol, Celebrex, Atorvastatin, Lansoprazole, Ropinirole: With these meds , she obviously has other concurrent medical problems. Bi lateral pulses & BP's

The actual food product may be gone, But the toxins have already entered your system. Delightful things such as salmonella, botulism, e-coli, paralytic shellfish poisoning can last from several days up to months in your body until your immune system wins the fight or the right combination of pharmaceuticals does the toxin in, or it kills you. There are many recent cases of regional or nationwide outbreaks of "food Poisoning" that have made the news in recent years. Think the spinach from california that sickened thousands with e-coli and caused deaths. the bad beef recalls that required a million pounds of hamburg to be recalled after outbreaks in 30 states. The taco bell "outbreak that affected hundreds. The bad fruit and vege's from south America that were shipped nationwide with botulism, The mad cow scare, the bubonic plague outbreak. the church supper with 65 sick folks hospitalized this past summer. The list goes on & on. Google is your friend if you want more info on these and many other recent cases. All of these bacteria, toxins or neurotoxin events affected many and caused thousands of sick people & many deaths among young children, elderly, and imuno-compromised folks. Don't ever take it as a simple case of a bad burger that will, be better after barfing. edit for spelling

Is she still actively seizing? if not> How long did the seizure last? Does she have any after effects from the seizure activity? What was she doing prior to the seizure beginning? Any recent illness? Any meds besides dilantin? Whens the last time serum levels were checked? Any other current medical HX? Vitals? BP high or normal Pupils? Blood glucose? ETOH? recreational pharmaceuticals? 12 lead shows? Once we get these answers, then a phone call to your friend, the Doc in the box might be in order to determine if you really need to take a 2 1/2 hr ride to the city hospital with a neuro dept. OK : I'll let someone else play now

island emt replied to threemilerun's topic in General EMS Discussion
There are lots of places with volunteer/ PAID /CALLPAY services that run at the Paramedic level and run ALS staffed when available. East coast is many states and areas, from the redneck riviera of florida to Maine. -
Looking for Medic Preceptor in Northern CA

I'll wager that NCTI has already cashed your tuition checks. Seems to me that part of their contract is the timely finish of your requirements to get to the NR boards. -
A downed live primary wire can be carrying up to 25,000 volts. the only safe way to disconnect it is to pull the circuit cut out on the pole. The danger of an arc flash is very large and special rated equipment is necessary. The average department can't afford to buy or maintain certification of the equipment. NO LINE IS SAFE TO TOUCH :::: EVER! Yes this scene was bad, but too many times heros have tries to save someone from similar situations and ended up Dead. Leave it to the professionals.

Transient episodes of tachycardia
island emt replied to DwayneEMTP's topic in Education and Training
Just because you are a pigheaded Pt: You would get a full workup to include 12 lead, dual 16 ga IV's just in case, Full rainbow blood draw for the lab. A full hx of events any meds taken including vigra, cialis etc due to your advanced age and the fact you have been away from your poor wife. Then you would go to the local cardiac center for more labs and monitoring over a 24 -48 hour period. Would look for strange foreign diseases, parasites and bacteria's since you have been out of the country for extended periods. Like Kaisu said : STOP being a dickhead and get to the DR. -
Transient episodes of tachycardia
island emt replied to DwayneEMTP's topic in Education and Training
Were you home in bed with your wife instead of a PNG sheep??? :-} Just kidding It sounds like time to see the doc and describe the S&S and possibly a holter monitor for a couple days to see if it can be captured. 49 is NOT too young to have cardiac issues. Not something to fool around with. Make the appt NOW -
Something I have come across. Opinions?
island emt replied to wrmedic82's topic in General EMS Discussion
This is similar to a petition that is flowing around the red states to secede from the nation. A classic case of loose screws trying to get press time. No practical app;ication. but it stirs the rabble up. -

AK: What can I say brother; May you have fair seas & following winds my friend. May your life's goals be met. Stay safe! Like you I have been considering when my retirement should happen. While I hate to leave what has been a part of over 40 years of my life, It will soon be time to let the kids sink or swim on their own.

One thing to remember : VERY few cardiac arrest are brought back to a perfusing rhythm . Some places claim a 40 % save rate , but they only count folks with witnessed arrests who had immediate CPR and quick AED applications. Even thenI'm sceptical of their numbers The majority of the arrest calls we see are down 10 -15 minutes or longer before any attempt at care is given. The odds of resuscitating that group are extremely low, and even if you do they will have been hypoxic long enough to have suffered serious brain injury. In four decades I've had four returns to spontaneous circulation that survived to walk out of the hospital with little or no neurological deficits.

Thanks for checking in Richard. Glad to see you made it out . I have a customer down in breezy point that lost everything they own except what they packed into the minivan as they fled the surge. They are here in Maine roughing it at their summer cottage and may be spending the winter here until they can rebuild. They said when they last saw their street the water was up to the middle of the first floor windows and then the fire took care of the rest. Our thoughts go out to all who suffered losses.

Paramedic from Israel
island emt replied to Asaf.rothschild@gmail.com's topic in General EMS Discussion
Depends on your education & training levels whether you would qualify to challenge the national registry for Paramedic certification in the US. Most States now use national registry as the testing agency. -
what should i know about the life of an emt?
island emt replied to rtjackson's topic in Meet and Greet
PLEASE imprint this in your mind: Do not ever speed through an intersection in an ambulance. That is the highest cause of EMS accidents, & leading cause of injuries & deaths to providers.
