  1. Try and keep in mind that me, and others, watch a fair number of those 'pansies' flying home in flag draped coffins each week. Please be a little more careful with your generalizations. There is not a thing wrong with this generation that wasn't just as wrong in previous generations. There are certainly arguments to be made for the lack of sportsmanship associated with beating a team with zero wins over four seasons 100-0. Neither team learned anything productive from that, and, with this being school and all, wouldn't it seem worthwhile to teach kids that though winning is good, it's not the end all, be all? I think so. You should be grateful LS. Many of your posts fly by because people don't want to hurt your feelings. They don't want to tell you that they are mostly macho ignorant redneck blather. So in that case this 'pussy generation' works to your advantage. Don't bite the hand that feeds you brother... Dwayne
  2. So, are you saying then that if you showed up on scene with no CPR in progress and the doc, or partner explained they withheld care because they were baked, that you wouldn't have an issue then? Dwayne
  3. How does such behavior the first time, not to mention repeatedly, not get one banned? I've had accurate posts deleted for calling people buttheads (or the like), but completly false posts are ok? Not judging Admins abilities, or question his/her right to do what they choose, but curious of the criteria. Dwayne
  4. Hey all, I was asked if I knew anything about Apgar Ambulance LLC , which I don't. Does anyone here? Curious if they make good ambulances, how it is to deal with them as a company, etc. Over all customer experience and product quality. Any first hand knowledge will be appreciated. Also, I've been looking at used ambulances and thinking about buying one to customize and turn into a camper. Lots of internal/external storage, heavy chasis, and much, much cheaper than a manufactered camper of like style. What are the legalities involved? I'm guessing the lights have to be removed and all EMS decals and paint removed or painted over, but are there other legal concerns? Can anyone think of a reason that this would be a bad idea? Thanks in advance on both counts... Dwayne
  5. Ruff, I'm trying to figure out the "our" in your and ak's party? Seemed like he invited us, paid for everything, bought the most amazing steaks I've ever eaten, and then cooked them for us while we all stood around and drank His booze, right? He was an awsome host, I'm confused though at what point 'our' instead of 'his' became appropriate?? Just sayin', we need to be real and give credit where credit is due... Dwayne
  6. Yeah man, truly. Wendy and I got together the other night and ran around a big mall in the Springs, had some dinner, had the most awesome visit. She is truly one of God's special people. While chatting to Matty about it he said, "Hey! I'm going to buy a ticket and come out!" He told us that two days ago and showed up today! We had dinner, played Wii (Not wee, as in Matty peeing on stuff, but the video game), went back to their hotel to go hot tubbing, though when $20 couldn't get us locked into the closed hot tub room we instead went into the bar and drank an played a some pool. Matty of course was cool as hell, same as the Florida visit. Smart, funny, bashful, lies his ass off about his skill at pool, but I guess no one's perfect. Immediately hit on the cute chick shooting pool on her own without noticeable positive results. Logan, Wendy's fiancé, I had no hope of liking at all, but it turns out that he's smart, kind, funny...very, very good company, so I guess I'm going to have to like him despite my worst intentions. Can really hold his beer, but more important is that visiting is more important than drinking to him, so I liked that a lot. Wendy...hell, beautiful, sexy, wicked smart. I expected a lot of sharp edges, but it turns out she's got not only awesome girl curves but is very lady like and has many mental soft edges for those of us not exactly her intellectual equals. Nothing but great things to say about her. Sweet as syrup, and easy on the eyes and ego..what more could you want? Babs enjoyed them all, as did Dylan, who they were all kind enough to include in everything during the evening minus the booze and pool playing. Thank you all for taking the time to come to my little town, and my home. I truly can't wait until we can do it again. In the future though I will take better care to guard the login to my City acct. Dwayne
  7. So far no restrictions. I have hit on Eydawn, hit on Mateo, and am currently working to get them drunk. Later on, we'll do something to Eydawn's fiance Levi er Leon er Larry, or something like that. He might wake up somewhere unexpected. Still waiting to determine if the 'admi' exists. Update for later... Dwayne
  8. Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Hell's Kitchen.... I'm a sucker for all three... Dwayne
  9. I agree. And if I could count on the rest of the general population that I will be treating to make this same logical argument, to say, "I've not broken any laws, so I have nothing to fear from the medic", then I would abandon my argument. Unfortunately it will likely only take a few visits of the ambulance doing not medically necessary procedures to cause the less educated, particularly when intoxicated, to make the leap that the two are intertwined. And that will mean trouble I think. I believe the logic will be more along the lines of, "He took dad's blood for the cops, so I can't call 911 with all of this pot smoke in the air!" while Suzie seizes during her OD. Logical? Nah, but realistic I believe. Again, I expect you to make the distinction, but not so much the people that are likely to be in this position. I see your point, though I do consider the reporting of such behavior a continuation of proper care. Also, it's not so much the particular issue, but the very public nature of the blood draws that I have issues with. I believe that no one is discouraged from calling for help with the common knowledge that I will report such things. In fact each time that's happened I believe the reason I was told was so that I would report it. There will be no clear explanation when people see me, and the news reports on me, drawing blood from a non medical pt for the sole purpose of causing him to go to jail. Do I mind helping put him in jail. Not at all. Do I mind that others may not trust me and will hesitate to call me because of it? Yes, very much so. I don't understand this part. And I'm always grateful to have them. Thanks for your thoughts. Dwayne
  10. So then you have no issue with say.... Mikey Rape Bitches Womack? Joe Kill Niggers Jones? You would consider that proper and acceptable parental care of the children named in such a manner? You don't see the need to protect a child from such ignorance? And obviously the tattoos, piercings, etc are not relevant to this conversation as again, we are not allowed to apply perminent stigma to our children that they should be alowed to choose, or reject for themselves when old enough to do so. Dwayne
  11. I'm not at all opposed to them legally changing their own names to suit their ideological/political views regardless whether or not they offend me or others. But does their freedom of speech over ride their children's right to the persuit of happiness? Do they have the right to get their kids' assess kicked every day? Retard their ability to blend and belong with their classmates, to get a job? Dwayne
  12. As far as moving the children out of the home we must remember that approximation (of the names) does not equal causation (Removal). (Actual, more intelligent quote tweaked to suit my purposes) The story doesn't say why they were removed. And to say that Adolph is just another name is like saying that nigger is just another word. Some words, names, phrases have become weighted with history, no intelligent person can claim to have named their child Adolph 'because it just sounded cute.' And to claim to be non racist in this case, when in our country it's most common to name your child after someone you respect or endear, is just stupid. Should parents be allowed to name thier children with such stigmatic names? Awesome question, but one most likely going to be answered by my betters. I just don't know. Dwayne
  13. I guess the problem I have is that they are being charged with creating and dispersing photos of minors, and if that is true, as the pictures are of themselves, can you be held responsible as a minor? Yet if they've decided they are close enough to adulthood to charge as such, then shouldn't they be allowed to dispurse their pics as they choose? Seems like a paradox, but I'm not big on law stuff... Dwayne
  14. Agree completely, though I'm not on board with kids having protection against locker searches and such. I like that quote a lot. This is insane. Kids will be kids, exploring sexuality is part of being a kid. Welcome to the new age of playing doctor. Dwayne
  15. You know I love you Wendy, but you're shouting into the chasm here... I'll give you the challenge Skinner gave to all with the same opinion. If you believe that these people thought their way out of these issues instead of 'learned' they're way out, all you have to do is prove it. It's relatively simple to prove that reinforcers move behavior, but to my knowledge no one has yet to even track a particular thought, much less prove that it changed behavior. For now I think, regarding such serious issues, we should stick with what we know instead of what we 'think'. Dwayne
  16. I would argue that in this case at least the parents were absolutely held responsible for what they've done. They raised a terribly damaged child, which should be a crime, and in this case mom received the death penalty. I agree that our country, as well as most others I'd guess, have major issues in this area. The real problem is that I see a whole thread full of what I consider to be very intelligent people still screaming for feel good punishment instead of an answer to the problem. How many gazillions of these cases must we see before we decide that figuring out how to raise healthy children will be much more productive than continuing to punish children after they are damaged beyond our ability to fix them? Unfortunately this is very unlikely to happen any time soon. [s:eff6748b81]See B.F. Skinner’s Autonomous Man Theory[/s:eff6748b81]. Edited as I've not done a search on this in a generation or so and most of what I found is uneducated nonsense in it's regard. At it's base it says that people cling to the 'feeling' that we are autonomous people, making moral and ethical decisions completely separated from history and outside influences. He felt that "good" people wouldn’t admit that relatively good people can make bad decisions because they've been reinforced to do so in the past, so that being "bad" isn't what they "are" but what they've been taught to be. He felt this wouldn't happen because the opposite must also then be true, that "good" people make many good decisions because they were taught/reinforced to do so, not simply because they are morally/biologically superior at their center. In essence, am I, Dwayne, superior to Charles Manson in the decisions I make? I hope that I am, yes, but not because I am somehow at my center superior, but that I was raised to make different decisions. The problem that I see that people have is that admitting this removes my "specialness" or superiority over those that make socially less responsible decisions, and most won't be willing to do so. Assuming this kid is biologically sound, then he became what he was raised to be, and his parents paid the price for raising him in this manner. Dwayne
  17. Yeah, I guess I see that. Also, it's not as if drawing blood is rocket science. It's my guess that if you can teach the average fireman to start an IV, then you can easily certify a cop to draw blood. I guess I don't see why they couldn't have 'certified' special units to draw their own blood? But it does start to blur the lines between law and medicine. Perhaps another argument against EMS for this job is putting us into the antagonistic position with a demographic of people that need to trust us before allowing treatment? (Chronic/casual drug users, alcoholics, etc) Does this put EMS back into the position of fighting over every IV because "we might be taking blood for the cops"? Not sure...I'll have to wait for input from better minds than mine... Dwayne
  18. We did this regularly in CO Springs, but only at the jail, and I don't really see the chain of custody issue as there is no reason for the medics/EMTs to transport the blood, but simply to draw it. At the jail they have a kit that is preprepared and sealed. The medic and two officers have to sign to the fact that it was sealed when received. There are step by step instructions for everything, initialed/signed by all present as things move along. All supplies including gloves, non alcoholic preps and a table covering are included in the kit. Nothing outside of the kit, including the pen, is used with the exception of the tape and 2x2 I used to cover the resulting wound. The suspect initials one end of the seals before they're used and then signs the other end after each vial is drawn and sealed and all is done in a holding room with audio/video recording. Then all is placed and sealed into a Chain of Custody bag like any other piece of evidence, after which I have no idea what happens to it. If it should have been our job, I don't know, but I was told it was part of the ambulance contract for the city. I didn't mind doing it as it only took a few minutes, was done professionally, and I also was never called to court to defend my qualifications. Also, being a medical procedure, a mobile medical professional seems like an efficient and logical choice to me. I don't really see why the same techniques couldn't be used on the hood of a police car or anyplace else recording can be accomplished. Again, I'm only commenting on the defensibility of technique and chain of custody, not whether or not it belongs in EMS...I'll have to give that a little more thought. Dwayne ...
  19. Holy Crap.... Some of the smartest people on the forum locked in what seems like a never ending penis measureing contest. C'mon guys. This is an awesome thread, great ideas and many things I may not have thought of before...Perhaps it's time to move on? Dwayne
  20. Yeah, I've noticed that posting without sources is becoming a major issue lately. Ak has handled it much more delicately and diplomatically than I’m capable of, so here is my two cents. Me and a few others have started Googling answers that we felt were a little surprising when coming from particular posters and have been disappointed to find with disturbing regularity that people are using found answers as their own. To me this is a particular kind of wicked. Those of you that are doing so, so far have been given a free pass, until ak's post of course, but fair warning! If you (not 'you' Ruff, general you) insist on trying to look smarter than you are, and insist on using the hard work of others to do so, then I am going to start doing what I can to humiliate you publically. There is no one here that is so ignorant that they don’t know that they should site sources, nor have a reasonable excuse for “forgetting.” Using others work is lazy, weak, dishonest, and perhaps most important, it really pisses me off. It's contrary to everything we try to do here. We've found posts from two posters in the “Challenge” threads in the last few weeks that have done this, including the one from above. You know who you are, and I'm warning you that you should not continue to do so and expect to continue here with your dignity intact. C’mon folks. We know what we know today. By participating honestly we’ll know more tomorrow. By lying we simply pollute the process for everyone, as well as set this horrible example. Just sayin’…. Dwayne
  21. If statistics are any indication, the system may well be allowing some innocent defendants to be executed. - Justice Sandra Day O’Connor The best available evidence indicates that, on the one hand, innocent people are sentenced to death with materially greater frequency than was previously supposed and that, on the other hand, convincing proof of their innocence often does not emerge until long after their convictions. - United States v. Quinones A legal regime relying on the death penalty will inevitably execute innocent people - not too often, one hopes, but undoubtedly sometimes. Mistakes will be made because it is simply not possible to do something this difficult perfectly, all the time. Any honest proponent of capital punishment must face this fact. - U.S. District Judge Michael Ponsor http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/innocence-...n-death-penalty An interesting read FD5, but most important are the stats (out of date at this time I believe as most sources claim 130 now) at the bottom of the page. Dwayne
  22. I have no educated opinion on abortion. It won't be part of my life, but so far have decided no to force my ignorance on others at the polls. Pro well controlled euthanasia. Exact same feelings as the Doc regarding the death penalty. No, until we stop killing innocent people. Dwayne
  23. JINX...Next time I see you I get to punch you in the arm... Dwayne
