If it's his site...Duddley's been a regularly contributing member of the City since joining, I don't see any way that it competes with the City, so I don't really see a problem. If it's not his site then it appears to me to be placed properly, it's referenced properly, and appears to be the type of site that encourages people to share the address. I don't really see the problem. Man, I just came from Bieb's ECG thread and I think I see a pattern of some folks that seem to run around looking for things to snipe instead of trying to contribute to the threads... I'm guessing most have noticed that our new post numbers seem to be in the toilet. My guess is that this has a lot to do with it. I don't want to spoil the ending for you.....but relax, everything really will be ok even if we choose not to bash every new post that comes down the pipe...
  2. 1) I see no issues with the name of the hospital being on the ECG as long as it's not attached to any patient information. How would a person get fired for that? (I swear to God that if someone claims HIPAA, or even worse, HIPPA, I'm going to hunt you down and kick your balls up by your tonsils!) 2) I see no issues with the initials being on the ECG. How would a person get fired for that? (I swear to God that if someone claims HIPAA, or even worse, HIPPA, I'm going to hunt you down and kick your balls up by your tonsils!) 3) I think that it's awesome that the machine interpretation is on the ECG because many medics trust it, plus, what's wrong with it being misleading? You should be interpreting it separate from that information, shouldn't you? I think that that's an excellent lesson learned. Great thread that's way past due Biebs... Otherwise no time to take a good look at these now...
  3. Brother, you've got 28 posts and at least two of them are questions about why another member isn't getting banned. Why is that so important to you? If you don't think that she's believable, then don't believe her. We all have big names and pictures next to our posts to allow you to skip right over us if you don't like us, or what we have to say. Why are you so invested in her being banned? This situation is being handled by the community. We take banning really seriously. I can only think of one member that's been banned. I went through a period here where I constantly posted the most idiotic drunken bullshit...I wish it hadn't happened, but it did, and my friends here let me go on to do my best to be a contributing member to the forums. Let it be my friend. It's all going to work out. If Admin banned each of us that has acted like an asshole here, there would be way fewer contributing members than there are now. I think a more valuable question for you isn't why she's not banned, but why it's so important to you that she should be.... Dwayne

    Apology

You know Mike, you're upset about how much pain that she purposely caused, but now that she's been outed you're here soliciting anyone and everyone so that you can tell them in private what an evil bitch she is. You claim to fall for these people because you're hearts so big that you just need to try and care for them...Where is your big heart now Brother? You have a big heart unless you get kicked in the balls? Then all bets are off? You're pissed off because you let her lead you around by the nose. So did many. As we talked before, that's going to happen sometimes when you open yourself up to people. You can pound on her for as long as you want, start as many behind the scenes conversations as you want, but it's not going to stop you feeling like an asshole. You got snookered man...don't make it even worse now by responding to it like a pissed of teenage girl. All I see coming from you is hate that you're trying to dress up as mature righteous indignation.... It's not working....

    Fair enough...
  6. Amazingly excellent article. Plus it validates my long winded, short on abbreviations style of PCR writing, so there's that... Everyone should read it.
  7. Now you're just bragging.... But yeah, the poster is ridiculous but it's how the hosemonkeys continue to get people to give them money targeted for EMS. Plus, it's a brilliant poster to continue to convince people that Fire and EMS are synonymous. If you see a firetruck, you're getting a medical professional. That's the 'bingo' card, and fire is amazingly good at playing it... It's going to be a while before anything changes...
  8. Hell, it only took 12 autistic kids to get the world to see vaccines as poison! But point of course is taken...
  9. Why would a male be taking a pregnancy test? I know that I fell asleep in a couple of classes during A&P...but...
  10. Welcome Brother. Thank you for your military service. And for the record the pararescuman technical specialist ninja is tongue in cheek from some silly horseshit at another job I used to have. I've not been military. You've come to the right place for your studies, plus there are many contractors here that you may fine common ground with! The trick here, and I swear it's true, is to participate. Ask what you want, try and answer everything whether within your scope or not, but you really can only learn so much here by reading... It's really good to have you. I look forward to your thoughts... Dwayne
  11. When we have them we just have simple urine tests. My main questions is, is there a way for her to have aborted 5 days past yet show negative, confirmed, on a urine test?
  12. Man. This seems to be so true! I don't know how it works, but it does seem in my life to work that way... "What you Love you empower. What you fear you empower. What you empower, you attract." (unknown)

  13. I pulled a 28 year old woman into the clinic a few weeks back when I noticed her walking down a path with a significant limp and apparent RLQ guarding. After an assessment I decided on appendicitis and/or ectopic pregnancy at the top of my differential. I know, not exactly a stretch. Patient had no significant pain when pulling the effected knee to her chest, and when supine banging on her heel created no painful response either, afebrile, so, right, wrong or indifferent I was leaning towards an ectopic pregnancy. Pulse rate and B/P were elevated but I was comfortable that this was secondary to pain and not a bleed. I asked for a pregnancy test from the nursing staff while I started organizing a medivac. Final diagnosis was infection secondary to spontaneous abortion of an ectopic pregnancy with retained POC (products of conception). The reason I mention all of this is that I dropped that off of my list because when I asked for the preg test results I was told, "It was negative. That's not it." I said, "Did you repeat the test to verify?" She said, "Yeah, it's not pregnancy." So I changed my opinion to acute appendicitis though was still kind of nagged by the possibility of the pregnancy. And that got me to wondering... How long after the abortion would she likely have still shown positive on a pregnancy test? I really, really wanted to call bullshit on her being given the tests, but I'm not sure if that would have been fair or not. Plus, it would likely have made no difference in their behavior for the next patient. Does anyone have any idea? I've done the Google thing, and have found a variety of answers but none from a truly reputable source...
  14. We are truly blessed to have some really smart folks here, and more importantly, very kind...most times. I've made some scary career decisions based on advice that I've gotten here, and it's not steered me wrong yet. Some of our most respected members are, or have been Fire. We try and forgive them, but man, they make it friggin' hard!! If you remember why we're all here, and remember that education saves lives way more often than hands, then you will have avoided the Fire plague and be welcome here any time...Hell, even if you don't remember those things you'll be welcome. Is that a volly service you're applying to? Aren't you a bit long in the tooth to be a proper hosemonky?
  15. Welcome man. Though I'm not nearly old enough to remember that book, some others here used the bark version I think. It's good to have you. I look forward to your thoughts. Dwayne
  16. That is a pretty crazy place, if I know where you're talking about...up on the 101? Chaos, chaos, chaos, chaos, then....nothing.
  17. But I still hear you in my head when I need you...
  18. I saw this story elsewhere, and I think that it's a ligitimate gripe. They were having trouble meeting their mandatory response times, but suddenly from out of the blue they were meeting them with little trouble. Then they had manpower cuts and the numbers showed that their response times had fallen increased drastically. Numbers that they used to make the argument that they needed all of their staffing back. After review it was discovered that they had lied on their fully manned response times, nudging them downward to show compliance. Also, where they are talking about seconds, is that after review they found that the difference in their response times after manpower cuts was miniscule. That there was virtually no difference at all. The bottom line is, for me anyway, that the LAFD had been caught lying over and over, blatantly. Standard Fire nonsense.
  19. Heh...the babies belly. The lady did ok while in my care. Improved according to physiological markers anyway. But there is no possibility of follow up here. They keep no documentation in the clinic, in fact they don't even record birthdays. You get as close as you can during your history by the number of Christmases that they remember or have counted. It is a different world. In fact akflightmedic got me going, and has helped keep me going, and it's changed everything...
  20. When some of us went to the CAP Lab last year it was $40. $40!!! I wouldn't expect to be able to get the same experience for several hundred dollars elsewhere. And they feed you! It's ridiculously inexpensive. There are a ton of cadavers, each with a truly smart and committed person there to make sure that you walk away much better than you arrived. The attitude is fun, but really serious. I promise you that you won't regret the travel expense if you make the effort to go. I'm going to go every year that I am stateside. The last place that I worked in the U.S. had a deal with the local hospital that allowed us, in fact we were required, to do at least two OR intubations per quarter. Some complained about this, but the NA there had over 20,000 documented intubations, or so he claimed, and was wicked smart and helpful. If your service doesn't have such a program you might mention it... Just a thought..
  21. You know those ads that pop up on the side of your screen for getting laid tonight? It cracks me up that there is this hot blonde with amazing cleavage and it says, "Michelle wants to chat and she lives just 2.7 miles from you!" I think, "wow, Michelle really needs to consider moving as I'm sure that she's the only white chick in that village..."

  22. So, I started a blog. I know, weird right? I was worried at first because I don't really know how to write, wasn't really sure what to say, or the right way to say it. But, I have to admit that after writing a few posts, rereading it, and looking it over, that it's actually much worse than I'd feared it would be. But, I am lucky that I have a few friends that like to talk and think about the same crap that I do, so maybe that will give it some interest. I wrote a post tonight that some might find interesting though, about my first time going into the villages to treat a patient. It was an amazing thing...I just wish that I had the words to describe it. http://www.chasing-my-life.com/like-a-national-geographic-special/ If you want to look, I'd be interested in your opinion. But you should go like the guys that go to the places that advertise fat strippers. Not because you really expect to end up getting lucky or even being satisfied, but because you just want, for a few minutes, to look at bald, unforgiving, ignorant political incorrectness. Hell, now that I think of it, who doesn't want that?
  23. Sorry there's no action here Brother. I'm not familiar with it at all. What is it that you're looking to train in? Becoming an EMT, refresher courses? If you try it maybe you can supply some feedback?
  24. How true is that? “In a controversy, the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.” ~ Buddha
