  1. And once again you take the most simplistic, childish argument that you believe is unbeatable and pretend that it is the true issue. "This is a parade! It's just for fun!!" What bullshit. It's a politcial/social activism gathering. The whole "A bunch of us just accidentally got together to have fun and it somehow ended up on TV!" I hate those fucking parades mainly because every time one is televised it sets the gay cause, or at least the cause for those that have a greater agenda that to prove that they should be held to no social standard at all, back 10 years. MLK had a bunch of respectful, well dressed protesters trying to move the cause of blacks forward...they gay 'pride' parade has a bunch of guys sucking dicks in the middle of the street an peeing on each other. Strong social statement, right? You must be very proud Flaming. Do I believe that that is all that happens at the parades? Not at all, I once spent most of a day watching one in San Fran, but that is what the news is going to pick up, and that is what is televised. Idiotic. The message isn't, "We here, we're queer, get used it it." It's "We're here, we're currently politically correct so you can't make us stop anything that we might want to do to, or in front of you, or we'll cry and call you a persecutor!!" Doesn't have quite the same ring to it...But is more accurate. So that is your argument? That other people are worse? In the south they sometimes hunt gays and kill them...so should I choose to damage your home, kick your ass, terrorize your lover...I'm good then...because others are doing worse? You shouldn't then be offended because someone else is more evil? (For the record to those that may not have read my other posts. In no way do I advocate violence or persecution/discrimination in any form against anyone for such a thing as race/color/sexual orientation, etc, etc.)(Note: Except assholes. Sometimes assholes should get punched in the head.) You want to know why no one takes you seriously? These arguments are why. Revisit Mobey's post to you and try to actually address his points like an adult. He worried about the messages that the parade sends his family. He expressed that he was personally offended by the grossly inaccurate message it sends to the general public about gay behavior as well as the fact that those protesting have no respect for his young children. Why did you find these concerns beneath you to discuss? His concerns are easily as much of the gay/non gay discussion as yours are, aren't they? Show that you have the mental and emotional maturity to actually see someone elses point of view without immediately bending it to your 4th grade agenda. I don't think you're capable...but if you are, I think then that there is actually a chance to make some positive changes... As you are now, you're simply an anchor to your cause... Dwayne
  2. I watched some show once about health insurance... People had gone their whole lives without it, then been diagnosed with AIDS, Cancer or some other catastrophically expensive issue and then wanted to buy it..."I can't afford these medical bills, and the insurance companies won't sell me insurance!! I'm a victim of the economy!" though it's no longer insurance at that point of course. The yearly payment for the hosemonkeys was insurance. Does it suck that you have to pay your whole life for something that may not happen? Sure. But I think the options suck worse... I'm sorry for their home, but, assuming that they were given the subscription option, then there are no victims here... Dwayne
  3. I think if CM would simply have banged Jake and blown Rad this whole situation could have been avoided...when will hypothetical women learn their place in EMS?? Of course this situation sucks. But the reason that it sucks is the old boy, knuckle dragger, bullshit mentality that this hypothetical service allows to exist. Is there a fight? Yeah, but it will have to be slow and progressive. Something to do about this situation? I don't think so, or at least I can't imagine what it would be.... Do you want to punch the faces of cowards like this through the back of their heads? Of course... Sorry hypothetical Babe...wish I had a better answer, but as much as I hate to agree with ak, I don't see any option here but to learn from this, not let it queer your energy if you can help it, and move on...This isn't about you being to timid to create change, but not having an environment where positive change is likely. You may create a lot of strife and unrest, make a lot of people uncomfortable if you're willing to go so far, but unless you have someone up the chain that's willing to say, "Holy shit! What have we been thinking by creating a biased, ignorant work environment this whole time?? Let's clean house!" then noise is all it's ever likely to be. Dwayne
  4. So you've not observed behavior in non humans that you believed to be joy, or fear, confidence, insecurity? If the only communication that you can imagine is vocal/verbal then I guess I can see your confusion, otherwise it appears that you're just looking to jump on points that have already been made. Where have you seen that here? Dwayne
  5. Wow, man, though this offer is tempting....Going to have to pass. I'm not telling you what to do Brother, but this kind of stuff makes you look really desperate and immature. Chat usually has some folks in it, but their tolerance for 'please be quiet and listen to me 'vent' ' is likely to be pretty low. Good luck though... Dwayne
  6. Now that's funny right there...not nice, but funny. Dwayne
  7. Unless you mean that little white pencil thing that you stick in the hole made by a shaving cut to stop the bleeding...I've got nothing.... Wait, even if that IS what you mean...I still have nothing... Sorry Brother... So, then why did I reply you might ask? Well...not sure...still got nothing...complete vacuum here.... Dwayne
  8. Man, if I just had a nickle for every time I've lost my spot as top chimp.... I'm sure that they are. In fact right now I'd be willing to trade sex to most of the chicks in the forum in exchange for, say....well....whatever.... Paramagic, not ignoring you Brother. Thanks for your response. I got busy tonight and don't have the time to give you the considered response that I would like. Though your logic upon first blush seems really tight I'd still like to do what I can to kick it in the balls. Dwayne
  9. Good to see you back man.... Dwayne
  10. Can we abbreviate it as Capt Of City Kickass? Just wonderin'.... :-) Dwayne
  11. Excellent job though... :-)
  12. Man, great question. If cruelty requires that the giver and receiver understand the abstract thought, or have the feelings of being treated cruelly as opposed to simply being treated in accordance with a rule of nature, then I can't think of any. Intuitively I was thinking of a cat playing with a mouse before it eats it, or a pack of dogs ganging up and killing another dog with no intentions of eating it.... Point taken...I'm no longer sure... Dwayne
  13. Outside of the old paper tests where you got a breakdown of your strengths and weaknesses, I'm not sure how you would know if you 'almost' passed? Unless this is something new on the NRCBT? That they break it down for you now?
  14. Excellent post. I think you made great points without ever relying on political correctness to shore them up...not an easy thing to do in this day and age. Question though, on the above quote. As disease, starvation, and cruelty are also found throughout the human as well as the non human world, do we then allow them, or in fact embrace them because they are not aberrant? Each of those things might be said to be physically beneficial to human evolution, but how so with homosexuality if there is no procreation to be effected? Notice that I said physically, as it's certainly possible that there is a mental societal evolutionary element that isn't readily evident or quantifiable. And I do have a really, really weak personal theory, developed over the many, many....seconds of typing this post for the physical as well. Now, you nor anyone else should feel the need to be kind to me on this. This is a curiosity only, as I'm about as competent at discussing human evolution as a deflated soccer ball quoting Shakespeare, I'm just curious. And to those for which it may not be evident. In no way do I associate homosexuals with disease, nor believe that they should be eradicated or treated in any way other than I would treat any of my other human brothers and sisters. The point is for debate only, it's certainly not my intention to promote shallow and intolerant thinking, at least any more than my tiny intellect allows me to avoid purposely doing such things. Man, what a great thread! I know we've gone a bit off track, and I know many hate these threads, but I believe that the logic used to navigate these issues is not so different than we use to navigate medicine and it's physiological/legal/political ramifications. In that I find not only a ton of intellectual value...but man, it's also just fun to debate with folks that came to debate without wearing their hearts on their sleeves. Thanks all... Dwayne
  15. You know what? Screw all of you and the yaks you rode in on.... Title changed to correct spelling.... :-)
  16. Thread title changed by me to reflect thread content.
  17. I as well see nothing to hammer on. I have two uncles that are preachers. I went to one when I was younger and said, "Uncle, Christians want me to believe that the bible is perfect. That despite having questions that I am simply supposed to believe harder. That I'm supposed to use the bible's intelligence in place of my own, and I just can't do that." He said, "That's one of the many 'untruths' of religion in my opinion, that blind faith is perfect faith. Blind faith isn't perfect, is simply blind. God is flattered by your questions. He's inspired by your search." Not sure why that stuck in my head verbatim, but I still find it to be inspiring. One of the most open minded yet religiously educated people I know, and I, were having the "God, no God" debate one night in the ambulance bay while waiting for a call. I asked him, "What if I could prove to you, which of course I can't, but what if I could prove that everything that happens that you attribute to your God, I could explain completely with behavioral science?" He thought for a few minutes and then said, 'Then I would be forced to stop believing in God. I'm not looking for a happy fantasy." To me, that quote is equally as inspiring as the first. I have no respect for 'perfect faith' followers of any religion. One of the things I loved about the Buddhists in Mongolia is that they question everything, discuss everything religious, but argue nothing, or so that's how it appeared to me. I don't think your questions show that you're lost, or that you've been fooled Ruff. I believe that perhaps they are the beginning of a truer faith, or lack thereof. Both of which, if you come to a place where you truly feel validated, are good things right? The same as I am confused by Christians that can't see the point of view of the skeptics, I'm confused by the skeptics that seem to find a huge joy in trying to crush the faith of others. It seems to me that in the middle ground lies peace... Carl Sagan was equally confused by believers and non believers alike. He certainly wasn't a Christian, but, as a lack of evidence isn't evidence against felt that those with confidence that there is no God were just as ignorant of scientific concepts. Questions are always good, unless the truth might crush your spirit. Then perhaps, ignorance is bliss. Dwayne
  18. You just say that 'cause he's you with a penis.... So I'd have to agree... :-) Dwayne
  19. Welcome back MM...good to have you and your experience here. There are many here with the experience that you're looking for, myself not amongst them. Don't read anything into not getting many responses to your post..it's Christmas, so folks are busy. I look forward to your thoughts! Dwayne
  20. Yeah, but that takes too much self control! It has that weird, funky, addicting taste...and then the pain kind of gets going...But it's too late! Only chicks can eat it with finesse I'm willing to bet. And that's just one of their freaky things..I mean, c'mon, anyone that can spend a friggin' week eating one chocolate bar is damaged in some basic, genetic way... Every guy here I'm willing to bet has a fond memory of the creamy taste of Capt Crunch mixed with the coppery taste of blood..It's an evil, evil product. Dwayne
  21. Last time I had it I needed a transfusion for the blood loss... No idea how anyone eats that stuff without major mouth damage.. Dwayne
  22. Yeah...to those speaking of being uncreative...well, look at mine...pitiful... I love this thread though! It's interesting to see what people mean by their avatars and screen names... Dwayne
  23. I know almost exactly nothing about transplants, but when you mention 'transplants' I'm assuming you mean a heart transplant. Is it truly not uncommon for someone in their 80's to get a new heart? I've not run across many transplants in any demographic, but this seems intuitively unlikely. Interesting though.. +5 Azemt, I thought your post was well thought out as well. It also made me walk a whole different path mentally than I had started on. If you could, would you mind breaking your posts up into paragraphs a bit? Not busting your balls Brother, it's just way easier to read in parts. Dwayne
  24. You know Toni when I took my basic we had a guy come in and teach us that, and I use it still. He claimed that it raised class score averages by around 14%, though I have no idea how he came up with that number. And I have certainly found all of that advice to be true. In multiple choice there almost always, maybe always, a 'throw away' and a, in his words, 'distracter.' Uncover them and you are down to 50/50. I truly believe that freaking out is what causes most failed tests. You have to remember that it is a terribly simple test. Look at the people that you've seen that have taken it an passed. There are a lot of chuckleheads in that group, right? Relax Brother. You're only going to use a small amount of the time available to take the test...you practically have all day. You got ridiculed at the other site? I've never known of that to be a very hardcore site, though I've not been there more than once or twice in the last several years...maybe they've sacked up since then.. Dwayne
  25. I'm not sure how I feel about the online course...but if you truly want to explore the medicine, instead of just read about it, you've certainly come to the right place. Now to see if you really want to jump in an challenge yourself? I hope you do...we can use more hot chicks here...To many old fat guys like me... Good luck girl...be really aggressive with your time here and I think that you'll begin to see your material in a new, better, light. Dwayne
