  1. Won't hurt? My psycho kitty from hell decided to leap onto the back of my chair, and climb over the top of my head to attack the speakers.... I'm off to the emergency room to see if I need stitches now... Thanks Michael!
  2. In one of Obama's campaign speeches, he said that 'the buck stops here', and that he wouldn't try to shift the blame for what his administration does. Along with that, he pretty much ousted most of Bush's cabinet, and installed his own. In MY book, that makes him responsible, either directly or indirectly...
  3. This picture just cost the American taxpayers $328,835.00! Add this to the 20.3 BILLION DOLLARS that he authorized to assist with Hamas members to emigrate to the US... A little over 100 days in office, and doing a bang up job sticking it to the American people! My only question is; when is he going to send each of us a jar of Vaseline®?
  4. The biggest 'supportive arguement' I"ve heard about standardized testing being slanted against blacks is that the wording of the test materials is written in 'white english'. Since the black community doesn't speak as 'eloquently' as whites, that is a 'barrier'. This letter, (if actually written as it was dictated), shows that arguement to be 'null and void'.
  5. Well said! When the state of Michigan first proposed legislation that was supportive of concealed carry, the 'Brady Bunch' and other anti gunner groups cried '...it will cause the streets to run red with blood', 'and that it would 'elevate crime rates to astronomical proportions'. They also predicted that it would revert us back to the 'old west', where there would be shootouts happening on a continual basis. The first year that the legislation was enacted, a study by the Michigan State Police showed that violent crime actually DROPPED 10% for the period studied and compared to the same period a year prior to the enactment of the legislation. As far as prisons go, they're not a 'deterrent', and they WONT ever be a 'deterrent' as long as we continue to acquiese to the prisoners! Prison inmates live better than some of the 'law abiding' people in this country! Yeah, we may HAVE to feed them, clothe them, and provide basic medical care...but theres NOTHING in the constitution that guarantees an inmate 'recreational equipment', cable television, etc! Face it; if you're in prison, you're there because you did something that broke the 'rules' of a civilized community. You do NOT require gym quality exercise equipment, cable television, or 'snacks' to survive! You don't NEED frizbees in prison to live! Until we actually make prison a true 'punishment' again, it will NEVER have the 'deterrent effect' that it used have.
  6. If that was written exactly as it was dictated, I guess that shoots a BIG hole in the whole 'standardized testing is slanted against blacks' arguement!
  7. That's great news terri! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that's 'returning to the fold' of EMS! Show them how it's done RIGHT!
  8. Your list of murder rates around the world was more of a surprise for me. With all the shaking of fists and the gnashing of teeth while the US is proclaimed one of the most uncivilized countries with such a high murder rate due to the proclivity of personal firearms, it seems that the US ranks WAYYYY down on the list! Guess we're not as violent as some of the other parts of the 'civilized world', hey?
  9. Give 'em hell, Tiff! I'm driving my instructor nuts because I question EVERYTHING....she hates when I ask 'why'!
  10. My only question is this: Is Ashley going to be the next 'runaway bride'? In all seriousness, congrats Asherly!!
  11. I too am retaking my EMT-B through the local college... We have 21 students, and when we did the CPR practicals, we were broken into 4 groups, the 'odd numbered groups' did the written while the 'even numbered groups' worked on the practicals. After both 'sections' were finished, we took a 15 minute break and switched. I think it worked out very well. I think that another way to handle this effectively would be to break this down into 'stations'. As a student or pair of students finishes a station, the next student (or pair) is preparing to move into it. Even though it sounds like an 'assembly line' structure, it keeps everyone moving along smoothly. LS
  12. I personally don't have any problem in dealing with 'general questions' or a 'more personal' email. I'll do my best to answer any and all questions they have. LS
  13. I'm thinking his 'gun control' was more than just 'adequate'!
  14. I got the first 'batch' of drawings, and you can tell the kids for me, "those are awesome!"
  15. The cop and the dispatcher are two different people. Remember, the dispatcher called the cop, and thats how he knew that she was the one cussing on the phone. I think there should be 2 people losing their job over this!
  16. As Tony explains it: "Big 'D', little 'i', big 'N' oh, double zee oh" (I think thats how he explained it when he was being accused of murdering some woman and chpping her legs off)
  17. Annie, When you have nothing more than 11 pages of rhetoric, with no valid facts to support your position; no one will take your arguement as anything other than simple rhetoric and opinion. At the risk of being branded 'politically incorrect', it is my contention that if you don't like your current situation, then it is your OBLIGATION to expend the effort to change it! It's time you get off your dead ass and do SOMETHING to change things, rather than sit there with your hand out expecting the whole world to give you 'payback' even if they had NOTHING to do with the injustices experienced by your ancestors. While the statement, "Whitey tryin to keep us down.", may have been correct 50 years ago, it doesn't apply to todays cultural environment. Having gone to a predominantly black high school (roughly 85-95% black), most of the kids in my graduating class are either: dead, incarcerated or so burned out on drugs, they're lucky to remember their names. I also attend a predominantly black college, and have noticed that most of the courses being taken by the black students are mechanics, cosmetology, and other 'non-technical courses' of study. Hell, in My EMT-B/EMT-I course, there are only 3 blacks out of 21 students. Should I feel 'guilty' because I'm actually trying to do something to change my 'lot in life'? I REFUSE to feel 'guilty' about it! At least I'm trying to do something to improve my life and my education! Nowhere in my posts have I whined and cried about discrimination and 'being held down' because there is no 'pissed off middle aged potbellied white guy' fund to put me through college or even represent me!

    Hi!

Do I need a passport to visit New Mexico? What is the monetary exchange rate for US dollars and New Mexican money?

  20. Time and time again, it's been proven that flying to a call, or to the hospital produces negligible benefit to the patient. As speed increases, safety decreases, and the risk factors increase exponentially. It's not rocket science here people! The faster you drive to a call, or to the hospital increases the risks you're taking not only with yourself, but your partner and the patient you have on board. Then there's the weather conditions, lighting, and the unpredictable reactions of the general public..... It's hammered in our heads in school; scene safety, personal safety, etc. But when we get behind the wheel of a company vehicle, we try to emulate our favorite NASCAR driver. I think some of the reasons (that haven't been mentioned here yet), for speeding would also include "ain't MY vehicle". "I'm not paying for the fuel", and "who cares if this POS rig gets tore up? We might end up with a new one then!". Ultimately, the point that's trying to be made here is; there's no justifiable reason for flying down the road. We're supposed to be HELPING the public, not HURTING them! Speed limits are just that...a LIMIT on how fast you can drive. They are not merely 'suggestions', nor are they 'challenges'! It was said in a previous post to this thread: if you want to drive FAST, then go to the local race track and pretend you're Dale Earnhardt, Jr all you want! But back in the 'real world' and on the 'regular streets', pull your head out of your ass and drive like you've got some common sense!
