  1. The hospital I'm doing my placement at right now uses the Insyte Autoguard.
  2. Hey folks, If you have a dissecting anyeurism, which BP do you take as the "right" one for the purpose of treatment plans? The higher or the lower? I'm thinking the higher but I'm not sure.
  3. Very nice
  4. Point of clarification, there are hospitals in Ontario that have RPNs working in the ER. Many of the patients an average ER sees are appropriate for an RPN assuming they are stable with a well defined, predictable outcome.
  5. Question from a non-American. Looking at the scope of practice, what is the difference between a First Responder trained individual and an EMT-B trained individual?
  6. I'm not familiar with CNAs.... is there somewhere that lists their scope of practise? I'm guessing they are similar to our Personal Support Workers. How long is their education? Here it is a 1 year full-time program to become a PSW.
  7. Why is it acceptable that someone practise independently when they are not proficient in their skills? Because if you are saying that you need years to become proficient as an EMT-B then you are a danger BEFORE that time.
  8. That's some serious sphincter pucker factor right there! He won't be able to go for a week!
  9. Do you happen to have the right side? Or know if he was having an RVI?
  10. Pregnancy can do pretty much anything.... including that.
  11. Talk about trial by fire eh?
  12. Just wondering but with the first one and the depression in V1/2 did you happen to do a posterior ECG (v7-9)?
  13. Did you read the post directly above yours? PAID staff will attract staff.
  14. What is a rumbler? I have never heard this term.
  15. I'll play devil's advocate here: Yeah that person is getting tortured.... but THOUSANDS of people are getting KILLED every day. We need to stop that from happening before we worry about that person being tortured.
  16. So there IS a way to get paid staff then.... all it takes is people stopping doing my profession as a hobby.
  17. Shouldn't it be about what is best for the community?
  18. Wow, I was quoted. I'm honoured 8)
  19. Why is the town not providing this service? Who provides it? I mean who decided it was YOUR group of people to provide EMS?
  20. FYI: I worked at a base that only had a call volume in 2006 of 217 calls. Another base in the same service had a call volume of 120 for the year. Another base had a call volume of 80 for the year. The absolute BUSIEST base in the entire service of 14 bases in the service had a call volume of 701 in 2006 and it was near double the next busiest base. ALL of the bases, from the 80/year to the 701/year had fully paid crews at them. By the way, our wage as a PT employee was $27.16/hr plus 14% in lieu of benefits. Care to continue saying it is not possible to have a paid staff at all times?
  21. Wow.... I find it amazing that of everything that has been discussed here, you feel their time to put their clothes on is the ONLY problem with their service.
  22. Yes it is! How DARE you suggest otherwise?!?!!!!1111oneoneone
