Scaramedic replied to thecroc's topic in Equiqment and Apparatus
Red = hot, black = ground. There's the extent of my knowledge. Contact manufacturer for specs and take it to authorized mechanic. Peace, Marty -
No Fiz I see what you are saying. A Med Control (Online) is not to be confused with your Medical Director. Your Med Director is the one who decides your scope of practice. He is the one that decides what drugs are or are not (within state regs) on your truck. He is the one who says what procedures you can perform. If you look closely you should see your protocol book by the radio at every hospital, some MD's use it as a reference. In most systems protocols are county wide so it is easy for the Doc to know what you can and can't do. Many systems require online med control to take the same protocol test that you do, so they know what you can do. Having said that there is a little wiggle room as far as dosing and other interventions, just like we have a little wiggle room in the field. It does not matter what the NREMT, the feds or in most cases even your state says you can do. It is up to your Medical Director to decide your scope of practice via your protocols. The protocols say that you are a representative of your M.D. and in his absence you shall do the following when a S/S presents. Example the state of Washington allows Paramedics to perform pericardiocentesis, yet not all systems in the state provide this intervention. Why? Not all Medical Directors believe it is necessary in the field. The problem is the OP is there is no Medical Direction outside of Online Med Control which is insane. The online Docs are either confused on the situation or insane, they have no basis to issue these orders, at least in my experience. Of course you never know what happens in the boonies, personally I have only worked in cities with more than 1 stoplight. Peace, Marty

Actually Fiz a Medical Control Doc cannot supersede your protocols. He can only allow you to carry out certain interventions stated within your protocols. Your Medical Director has decided that certain interventions he wants an MD consulted before you carry out that intervention. An online Med Doc cannot tell you to perform an appendectomy for example. You can only work within the level of your protocols no matter what an MD says. No protocols means the online Doc has no clue what your MD allows you to do. Peace, Marty

Let's see, knowing the history I'll say they fire him, hire someone worse and then hire him back. Repeat as necessary. Peace, Marty

I agree with Dust, first find out what the state law is. Then check with your local EMS agency/county/city. If they have no regs then go to your Medical director and have him write ALS protocols. Having him "say" it's OK is not kosher, you need to have thorough ALS protocols. Otherwise you're an EMT-Basic. Peace, Marty P.S. Most states would not allow the ALS drugs on a strictly BLS service.

Is that one of those technical terms I am going to learn in Nursing School? Peace, Marty

Sell blood up to $60 a week. Universities need semen, $75 a shot at OHSU in Portland, up to 10 times. Cosmetic testing - Save the bunnies! Steal copper wire from construction sites - ask your local meth head for job opportunities. and then there is this... Worked for me!! Seriously Stafford loans. Peace, Marty -

Firemen don't have balls. Peace, Marty P.S. Seriously 800k is kind of steep for fund raising. You might approach you city/county for a levy, bond, or a tax.

Umm ok. First off I think it might just translation probs here but... ...Pearl Harbor was WW2, not WW1. Then there is... Fairly crucial role, hmm Ok. I'm sure Britain would have been able to pull off D-Day with the help of Canada, driven the Nazi's out of France, stormed across Europe and over the Rhine. Of course that would have caused the Russians to issue orders to pull troops from the Eastern front to cover the Atlantic Wall. Thereby causing the German offensive into Russia to fail. Of course, hell why did we even go? Why did we leave 6,000 dead on that beach? You guys could have handled it. We payed the French back in WW1, thank you though. American base with other countries soldiers, kind of like in Iraq now. Let me see, yep Britain, Britain, Britain oh wait there is the US at the request of your people. Yeah, I would say with what was going on in Europe they were damned happy we gave them a choice and got rid of the Brits. Yeah my bad on that one sorry. Putin was insane before we even thought of putting weapons in Europe to protect them from Iranian missiles. He has been steering Russia back to the old way for years now. Lucky for you most of their fleet is rusting away. Oh by the way, the reason we were in Iceland to begin with is it was a great place to monitor subs. Conversely it would have been a great place for the USSR to place missiles, hence the NATO (U.S. if you like) presence. If you think the Soviets wouldn't have taken advantage of that just look at Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Your welcome. By the way the French are the ones who are stirring up the most shit with Iran not us. Submarines attacks: 110 deaths Mines: 13 deaths Ships sunk by running them over: 10 deaths Air raids: 3 deaths Various: 6 deaths These were civilian deaths, not combat deaths. They don't count. I guarantee we lost more than that from car crashes during blackout drills. Our pop. at the time was a 130 million. We sent off 20 million to battle. If you consider the children, elderly, and women in that population you will see that we sent a majority of our men to war. I am sorry for you civilian deaths, but you were neutral which is fine. Hell even our seats were cheap compared to the European countries decimated by the war. 6 million Jews killed, including members of my family, somewhere around 40 million civilian dead. To be honest neither of us has room to bitch on that front. Look Kristo, you have a wonderful country, I someday hope to visit. Yet the world does not turn it's eyes to you when there is trouble. Your right we are the last superpower, and I'll bet you most Americans would love to let you have that title. Are you willing? Gotta Navy we'll sell you real cheap. Great planes, tanks, guns rifles, socks and boots. Take the damn burden off of us were sick of it. Peace, Marty P.S. CAN WE PLEASE GET BACK ON TOPIC!!!!!
