Save 1-2 million patients in 2009 ??
akflightmedic replied to crotchitymedic1986's topic in General EMS Discussion
Here are examples of your high horse and lack of tact which causes many of your discussions to sour. I have made notes of how your context seems to come across. You already know the answer, and it seems to be your way or no way. See, "spill the beans", again you knew the answer. You demonstrated superiority by knowing something and teasing us, instead of presenting in an intelligent format. Then the statement of "ATTEMPT TO ARGUE"..come on, to imply you are right and we can not succeed...get real man. Oh but wait, your idea is sooo easy. It is the right way of course AND it is easy, however there are many other logistical issues that would need major planning to ensure this smooth transition. And then you insinuate that only the lazy or incompetent are getting refusals. No call is ever the same and to box in every refusal into this context is an insult. Patients do not present with all the proper symptoms (due to them not reading the text), they do not report all the symptoms, any number of things could affect who and why a refusal is obtained. Here you go again as with previous threads..the "ugly EMS secret". No it is not an ugly secret. This is another one of your ways of delivering a potentially controversial subject in the context that "we all do it or know of it", which is entirely untrue. There are no universal truths in medicine. Then you say I (the reader) am not a true pt advocate if we do not deal with this issue. The correlation you present is horrible, unfair and just plain idiotic. Now you presume to know what is in my heart. Quite the mighty horse you got there mate. You presume to know what I have or have not heard as well, quite omnipotent you are. We do? Are they? They are?? Man you are everywhere and know everything...amazing! Again, it seems to only be directed at the lazy medics and they seem to be prevalent in your world. Interesting. -

The problem is you seem to think everyone needs convincing and your argument is the only right one and that no one else had thought it before. Your delivery lacks tact and there is not much we can do for you in that regard. One day, when you come off the high horse to where all we lowly commoners are and present your thoughts in a well thought out, non attacking, non condescending mode, you may have more intelligent discussion at your disposal. -

Glad you see my point and agree. Flawed logic with no evidence is a wonderful thing, isn't it? I just wanted to argue like you do for once. -

I suggest leave it as it is because it is not a dirty little secret and it is really not the issue you make it out to be. I mean if you can hypothesize with no facts to support, then so can I. 5000 people out of 330 million...hmmmm, not bad odds eh? How many babies are born every day replacing those 5000? Yes, I am being harsh, but we all have to die. So what if we assist with the thinning of the herd? What I find funny is yet again, you are stumping on a moral issue and only your view is going to be right. You are asking how many is too many, which even though you did not say it outright, it sounds as if you are on the side that says "even 1 death is too many". You also keep quoting these burnt out medics who talk them out of refusals, like we all have been there or are there every single shift. You present an argument from a very narrow frame of reference, which consists of your experiences and is based on nothing else. Not a good position to be in during a debate. -

You have some of the most unsubstantiated and flawed logic/reasoning. It is pointless to debate you or counter your side as you offer no facts...EVER. You pull conclusions out of thin air. You also seem to have a lot of "dirty little EMS secrets" that not many of us seem to encounter as much as you did/do. -
You really confuse me quite often, as most of your posts are trollish in nature, your logic and debate skills are questionable. You draw conclusions and make broad statements that have no weight, yet seemed convinced they are accurate. Oh well, back to the show in progress...

VT vollie FD pushing out paid 3rd service, because they can

le allowing revenue generated by calls – an estimated $70,000 this year – to leave the community. Keeping that revenue in the community would be "beneficial," according to Rolland, who has indicated the department hopes to use ambulance revenues to help cover the cost of the new fire station it will ask voters to approve on Town Meeting Day. A pricier version of the proposal was overwhelmingly defeated two years ago. Nuff said.... -
Agree with P3, why would you need a protocol for its use?? Just purchase them, train on them and use them. Ask your legal and budgeting departments to collaborate...7 bucks versus possibly multiple failed attempts at securing a airway resulting in undesirable end result.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/us_world/2...otographed.html Kentucky Fried Chicken trio photographed turning sink into hot tub BY NANCY DILLON DAILY NEWS WEST COAST BUREAU CHIEF Updated Thursday, December 11th 2008, 2:44 PM After putting the photos up on MySpace, one of the unidentified girls listed herself as a 17-year-old worker at the Anderson KFC near Redding. Record Searchlight After putting the photos up on MySpace, one of the unidentified girls listed herself as a 17-year-old worker at the Anderson KFC near Redding. Record Searchlight LOS ANGELES - They serve fast food, but they're slow learners. Four months after a Burger King employee lost his job for taking a bubble bath in a restaurant sink, three scantily clad teens were fired when they turned a basin at their northern California KFC into their personal hot tub. They landed in hot water with the chicken chain's management when one of the bikini-clad dimwits made the same mistake as the Ohio Burger King employee - she posted photos of the dippy escapade on MySpace. The photos included captions such as "haha KFC showers!" and "haha we turned on the jets," and were filed under a gallery called "KFC moments," according to the Record Searchlight newspaper in Redding, Calif. The story broke before the unidentified girl could scrub public access to her profile. On her MySpace page, the girl listed herself as a 17-year-old worker at the Anderson KFC near Redding. "I'm a KFC worker, they are my best friends and my family," she said on her site. The three were suspended Tuesday - and have since been fired, said KFC spokesman Rick Maynard. "KFC has zero tolerance for violations of our operating standards, and our franchisee has taken immediate action by terminating the employees who were involved," said Maynard. An assistant manager told the Record Searchlight that no manager was on duty when the steamy photos were likely taken and that the trio closed the restaurant themselves. Burger King bagged 25-year-old Timothy Tackett in August after a four-minute video of his birthday bath in the sink of a Xenia, Ohio, restaurant landed on MySpace and YouTube. Tackett appeared to be naked in the sink. Burger King promised to work with the health department to retrain staffers in proper sanitation procedures. ndillon@nydailynews.com

Then what are they complaining about in regards to this "new testing" to keep their job? Am I missing something or thinking of an entirely different thread?
-
I see the link, but do you think that is a fresh update maybe?? Since they are just now implementing it or maybe a year ago they decided all potential new hires must have it since they are now enforcing it on everyone else? If this has been a requirement all along, the debate over the guys losing their jobs and not being able to serve on a fire truck and just put out fires would be a moot issue, would it not? It would seem they already have the requirement they are complaining about obtaining. So based on that, it still stands that they possibly were NOT NR certified.

Throwing the BS flag in...sorry. Anyone who uses the term "medic", even in Canuckistan is referring to a paramedic. The only people that get away with calling everyone a medic is the Army. Pay up...

I did not read all the posts, however I did an informal study on my children. My 2 daughter's stated they had done it once but made faces of revulsion that they would not and could not consider it again. My son, my boy...makes me so proud...he smiled his goofy grin and said of course he has done it, still does it and what is wrong with it? Girls ages 10 and 7 Boy age 8 And yes, I too have peed in the shower. No need to lie, I have done it. Hello, my name is AK and I have peed in the shower.

This reminds me of the FFs complaining when Ohio switched to NR and canned the state test. FF Medics and EMTs were complaining cause there were questions on there about snakes, venom and other types of insects that sting, etc. They were upset because they do not have nay of those things in their area and should not have to know it. I remember writing then as I do now, how ludicrous! Those questions are maybe in the number of 3, THREE at the most on that exam. FOr them to complain about bear attacks...hmmm are there no ZOOS in DC?? What if a circus was driving by on the interstate and their tractor trailer with a bear overturned and he got loose?? What if they are traveling, vacationing, in another state on a CME event (ha ha) and happen to run across a bear attack?? Bear attacks are rare even for those of us who live somewhere the possibility it may happen, yet we have to know the information. It is called standardization. They did not complain when the IAFF pushed for standardization across the board, so why are they now?

Just to clarify, he is an Aussie, so by that right he is NOT representing the US or US EMS. As for how many Americans does he work with..the answer is two...Me and Dwayne.

Nice one. Violence for sure. Erase all illness and people only live longer to fight. Erase all violence and they live longer to love. Oil at $10 a barrel for the next 10 years or eliminate all cars that require oil.

The ridiculous nature of calling the cops on YOUR own daughters boyfriend and forever labeling him a sex offender. Right or wrong? You have 10 minutes to live and can be sent to any era, any place to visit with one living human being (celestial or heavenly beings excluded). Who, when and where?

I agree. The age group of the class is old enough to grasp the concepts of the lesson without any misunderstandings. If the lesson was presented in a logical fashion, and the teacher asked if anyone had ever been bound, could anyone imagine being bound and having to crawl through tunnels to survive, this could have been a very valuable lesson. If the teacher singled someone out and this was a "punitive" lesson, by all means this was a foolish lesson. I think the class may have actually enjoyed the lesson, gained some valuable knowledge and experience form it, and then when they went home to share the race card was thrown. I think this is an over reaction on behalf of the parents along with their friendly neighborhood NAACP. ( I graduated in '93 as well, I thought you were older)

What are your thoughts, opinions, comments, concerns? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081205/ap_on_re_us/slave_lesson WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A white social studies teacher attempted to enliven a seventh-grade discussion of slavery by binding the hands and feet of two black girls, prompting outrage from one girl's mother and the local chapter of the NAACP. After the mother complained to Haverstraw Middle School, the superintendent said he was having "conversations with our staff on how to deliver effective lessons." "If a student was upset, then it was a bad idea," said Superintendent Brian Monahan of the North Rockland School District in New York City's northern suburbs. The teacher apologized to the mother who complained and her 13-year-old daughter during a meeting Thursday that also included a representative of the local NAACP. But the mother, Christine Shand of Haverstraw, said Friday she thinks the teacher should be removed from the class. "I think the teacher should have gotten some discipline," Shand said. "I know if that was me, I would be uncomfortable going back to that class. Why should my daughter have to switch?" Monahan refused to say what, if any, measures were taken against the teacher, Eileen Bernstein, who was still working on Friday. The school district said she was not available for comment. "We encourage our teachers to deliver the curriculum in a variety of ways, to go beyond just reading the textbook," the superintendent said. "We don't want to discourage creativity. But this obviously went wrong because the student was upset." On Nov. 18, Bernstein was discussing the conditions under which African captives were taken to America in slave ships. She bound the two students' hands and feet with tape and had them crawl under a desk to simulate the experience, Monahan and Shand said. Monahan said the girls were not the only blacks in the class. Gabrielle Shand burst into tears at home, her mother said. "There are other ways to demonstrate slavery," Christine Shand said Friday. "It doesn't matter the color of the kids, it's just not right to tie them up. My daughter is still upset, still embarrassed. She didn't go to school today." Wilbur Aldridge, director of the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, said the history demonstration, first reported in The Journal News, "went wrong when she started to do that binding." "I don't care what color, no one should be put in the position of having their hands and feet bound," he said. Aldridge said he feared that the teacher still "didn't get it" after their meeting. He said the teacher apologized "because Gabrielle was upset, not because she admitted she did something wrong." Shand said she had not decided whether to take any further action, including filing a lawsuit.

Will this work bro? Sorry, couldn't pass on the comic relief. -
OR You can forfeit your deposit and BAIL. Move out, CLEAN..I said CLEAN the place very good and then take pictures and video on the day you leave documenting the condition. And then hope they NEVER come after you, which they have every right to, but some may not. I do not advocate this route for everyone, but there have been times in my life where this was my only option and it worked. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do in order to survive. (The above action is AFTER you have tried the other methods)

Example of why we do NOT speed in ambulances...
akflightmedic replied to akflightmedic's topic in General EMS Discussion
Guess we can not truly comment on your statement util we know more facts. While your point has some merit, if speed on the ambo's behalf was a contributor or cause of the MVC, them choosing to ride with a drunk is moot. Are you saying we should not force the ambo driver to accept responsibility for his actions since the other party was drunk? What if no ETOH was involved...is the ambo driver still free to avoid his responsibility?
