911 versus IFT Service - Pillows ?
akflightmedic replied to mikeymedic1984's topic in Burnout, Stress, & Health
Of the two (IFT versus 911) which one typically has to continuously market, expand and offer a concierge type service? Which one typically has direct competition-a lot of it? I do not think it is "cultural", I think it comes down to need versus want and budgetary reasons. -
Should Women Be Allowed In The Augusta GA Country Club

Nice try, but I am pretty sure this debated was about women being members as opposed to guests not allowed to play the course...which is its current status. So stag night and bachelor parties are safe!!! -
Ok I am in Sydney....we took the Coast Road, drove for 2 days...had some long boring parts, had some awesome beaches....in hotel now...will explore Sydney tomorrow.

Tell me how, when, where...PM me a phone number. Dubbo is home of a former employee turned friend...he just holidayed in the States and I hosted him, now time to return favor!

G'day mates....I am currently on day 2 of a 16 day holiday in Oz! I am currently in Melbourne, will drive to Sydney, then drive to Dubbo to see a close friend...otherwise who goes to Dubbo, right? Aside from the char grilled kangaroo and unlimited supply of Tim Tams we are keen to meet n greet with anyone in the general area. Sorry no time to go to New Zed or West Coast of Oz....as we have to be in Melbourne by the 25th to celebrate our first ANZAC Day proper! Our schedule is wide open to any suggestions as well...

I kid you not, you are wrong and that is an "old wive's tale" or urban legend as we call it these days.... Like most modern words, the word "golf" derives from older languages and dialects. In this case, the languages in question are medieval Dutch and old Scots. The medieval Dutch word "kolf" or "kolve" meant "club." It is believed that word passed to the Scots, whose old Scots dialect transformed the word into "golve," "gowl" or "gouf." By the 16th Century, the word "golf" had emerged. It is a PRIVATE club...sorry that still means the owner sets the rules. If there were any public monies associated with this, any tax breaks, subsidies...then absolutely it is wrong. Until then...the members in good standing choose to maintain the archaic tradition and that is their right. It would seem that over time, societal pressure would make it more shameful to be a member of a place with rules as such, but since it hasn't, then that is indicative of not only the club but the attitude of the general surrounding populace. -

Strange question from the NREMT-P test today
akflightmedic replied to Christine Chambers's topic in General EMS Discussion
You are reading too much into the question. It did not care if you had milk available, if did not imply you need to swing by a grocery store. It is testing your general knowledge of how to preserve a tooth if you have the chance. This very scenario is taught in basic first aid courses every single day, so a medic should know a general knowledge question such as this. -
I was just following the trend and seeing who would name what I was referencing....

Because while to you, both behaviors are equally offenseive, one of the mockeries is inciting actual violence (rape) as opposed to making fun of a certain group without harming them physically. You are not comparing apples to apples which is the beauty of these hypothetical discussions. Yes these ideas can be expressed as that is a right we have in this country, if you do not like it walk away. Violence does not help the situation or prevent future episodes. You lost it on "the ask" concept...of course I did not ask you to...full of machismo and bravado you gladly volunteered to do it on my behalf and I expressly said NO thank you. I do not need a knuckledragger in this battle, this is not a battle that is won with violence. And then you close out your argument by invoking Godwin's Law...internet debate travesty. -

Being that this was an atheist parade and those who parade tend to go to the extreme for effect (reference earlier discussions on gay pride parades) what did you expect to see by watching this sort of event? And the man portrayed himself as a Zombie Mohammed...kind of funny in my book...just like Zombie Jesus. My point about your son was the fact that he himself would not be offended, youa re taking offense for him by attacking. Even if it is about perpetuating ignorance...what have you perpetuated by attacking? Did it educate, did it fix the situtation or did it make you feel better in that moment and make you a hero to those in your immediate beating circle? Yes I would walk away. No one would take them serious and quite honestly a depiction of rape is a far cry from being zombie Mo or drooling and performing stereotypical autisitc motions. I do not want, need or ask you to smash the shit out of anyone oon my behalf if they were to depict such a thing. In fact I expect/request that you simply walk away...if everyone did that...would they still have a voice? -

If I am scanning channels on my TV and I glimpse something I do not find appealing I keep on flipping. If I am standing on a street and I see something I do not find appealing/offensive I turn away and walk in different direction--we do not attack. Reference your son--Would he find it offensive or would he find humor? What you are saying is YOU would be offended and would act on his behalf even though he would not suffer from a depiction, correct? The emotions felt would be yours, not your son's and the beating which ensued upon the antagonist would be due to your internal issues and not your son's condition...correct? -

Yes I am well aware and I had actually written that in my first sentence which was mysteriously edited but right after posting this I was then unable to access the site for 2 days. Anyways, my point is why do you need to improvise? If you are in emergent situation, effective coaching will assist for the immediate short term need...up to and including multiple or more frequent inhalations. I just felt the snazzy jazzy improvisation (which has yet to be revealed FYI) would be more of a time waster than good old common sense in this particular scenario.
-
Why would we have a need to improvise a spacer? Yes they are great tools to use with an inhaler, but in the emergency setting, if you are on of those services who actually carries an inhaler....simply do it the old fashioned way if your spacer is missing. Put it in their mouth....of course you coach them on exhaling as much as possible, inserting inhaler, making seal with lips around the mouth piece and then inhaling deeply while depressing the canister.
