  6. Subject: A Good Story This morning I went to sign my dogs up for welfare. At first the lady said, "Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare". So I explained to her that my dogs are mixed in color, unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and have no frigging clue who their daddy's are. They expect me to feed them, provide them with housing and medical care, and feel guilty because they are dogs. So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My dogs get their first checks Friday. Damn this is a great country. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  8. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/mosque_madness_at_ground_zero_OQ34EB0MWS0lXuAnQau5uL In this artical it refers to the opening date of sept 11 2012.
  9. The date of Sept 11 being the date of the opening was refered to in an interview with a Canadian that lost a Family member on Canada AM. I tried to find the interview but couldnt.
  10. I would like to believe that I am a very tolerant person that doesn't envolve myself in racism. I would have to agree that that this mosque building is in fact a slap to the faces of those who A survived the attacts, and B lost loved one's in the attack. There's one image I will never forget in my life is watching that second plane hit the twin tower's live on TV. The first plane was first thought to be an accident before the second one hit. I personally do not go to the city and see muslims as terrorists nor do I really give it much thought to be honest, dont know why just dont. The people who are organizing this are really missing the target and disrespecting those who are truely going to be effected by this event. As I have heard they are actually going to do the grand opening of this High rise on Sept 11, OMG that is just wrong on so many levels. As it has been said it was individuals who created 9/11 but unfortunantly they were Muslim and now that faith is always no matter what anyone says or does going to be associated with terrorism. I would like to know who originally thought that putting a Mosque near ground zero and having a Grand Opening on Sept 11 was good idea ever.
  11. Well here is my suggestion and it's along the lines of Dwyane. When my ex husband went to boot camp and when he went away I use to write the dirtiest letters to him. After he came back from those times away he always said thanks and now it time to make those stories true. If you cant seem to get it out on paper go buy a dirty book and find something to copy. Another thing if there is such a thing anymore is a cassette tape of you and the family, just hearing the voices of the ones you love will get you through alot. Hope it is a quick and safe trip for your hunny

  14. OK what happened the Home page AGAIN

  15. I have never dropped anyone or even come close. I did have a pt that had tripped getting out of a cab in Vancouver and somehow managed to break both of her collar bones. When the Medic were trying to put her in the ambulance some how the stretcher tipped and down she went. About 3 weeks later she had to be medivaced for infection and when she saw the stretcher she started to cry. It took alot to get her onto the stretcher but we did it and didnt drop her.
  16. I think I peed my pants alittle
  17. here are the pics to that other incident http://www.strangemilitary.com/content/item/13053.html
  18. OK after many years of pilot complaints and me screamming at the town Administrator one of the Planes hit a deer on take off. It was one of the commercial planes but it was a full plane and thank god no one was hurt. (we only have 4 medics in town). There was 200k damage to the plane and it needs a new engine. So yesterday all you could hear are Heli's flying around and the Public Works Department driving around the place like idiots. The discription given to me was that it was like Vietnam. So that didn't work and they brought out the bear bangers yahooooo everyone thought that they were finnally shooting them. Nope cant do that say the conservation officer because they are in an inclosed area, funny thing is that it cant be to enclosed as they are in there in the first place right. Im at a point to go get a few first nation boys and say hey can't you go food hunting ......................... So my question is other than the obvious have the village idiots fix the fence and re-creat the moat around the end of the runnway and actually keep the maintinance up How do other places in the world deal with wild life vrs. runway issues? Thanks Now off the find out how to do some food gathering
  19. That is a very good idea annie You should send it off to MADD. The problem is that usually they dont care and will drive anyways. One of my questions is why is this who is a known drunk driver not being stopped by the RCMP there is always a reason some one could be stopped. But really that idea could also be sent to the medical people to see what could be done on that side
  20. I think at this point in time this may be one of the most contensious issues in the US right now. I dont really understand why this came about to a law in that state. What I do understand is that a cop in this state has the right to stop me and ask for Identification based on my apperance. Once I start talking my Canadian accent what are the chances that I would be said to go on my way, pretty good I think. But what if I talked like a Canadian Indian would I be released or detained. As Im really trying to poke a little fun at this and please take it at that. Read the artical im posting and I really have to wonder what the cops would do in this case. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2004125576_jaytreaty15.html Personally I would not like to be judged on my apperance. I do get the fact that there alot of illegal immigrants in the southern states and most should be sent home because of drug trafficing ect. but all of North America was built on immagrants and they were not all legal. Just a point of view not item to cause a riff...............
  21. Ok I have to disagree first of all the golden hr where I am as I said before is the golden 24. I think the term Hour is an estimate for example if you have a stroke victim it is better for that pt to get to surgery is better than 2 hrs later, I think the term is in general and not a rule that you have to have them there or they will die. If that is what is being taught then that is wrong, but when it was explained to me it was in a way that it is the ideal situation for a critically ill person. And just so people know my time to the hospital from a scene is about 5-10 mins sometimes up to 1 hr if Im going out the highway. Oh ya my hospital has no surgery capabilities at all. As for the AED I dont think they shouldn't be in the public as I have fundraised 4 of them for our community. They do save live's but studies do show that the mortality of those pts really dosnt change and alot of people will end up dying in the hospital or with in months of the big jammer. I got this info from a nurse who was actually apart of a group of hospitals that were doing the study, so I hope she wouldn't lie to me. But here is an interesting once in a lifetime call I'll share with you about CPR and the AED. My partner and I were called code 3 for a code. Pt was on the phone and collapsed, his partner call the ambulance were dispatch instructer her on CPR. She said she couldnt do so ran next door and the neighbour came over and carried on. We arrived within about 10 minutes (so the guy is down for about 15min at that time) on goes the AED and 3 no shocks later off we go. In the mean time one of VFF joined in getting him to the car, he carried on with CPR and that took another 10 mins (so now he is down for 25 min)at the hospital of course drugs are involved and the Dr. Zapped him twice and holy crap 40 min later this guy has a pulse. He crashed one more time and was again zapped and again regained his pulse. He was Medivaced about 4 hrs later to the cardiac center where he passed away with his son by his side. This senerio is so unusual we were getting calls from dispatch and all the paragods asking if this really happened. The moral of this story to me is that the AED was a big part of saving his life even if was just so his family could go into that emergency room to give him a kiss, hug and say good bye. The data that was gathered through our AED is actually being analyzed for our CPR abilities and what ever else it records to see if will help in further studies.
  22. Hey Squint long time no see FYI hubby canning 30 sockeye today yum yum yum. But to the subject. I think teaching people the term The Golden Hour is actually a good thing. It is always better for anyone in this field to have something in their head that makes the sense of ergency come forward in any call. My thinking of the golden hr is for city ems as for here it is out the window it is the golden 24 hrs if your lucky, but when I was first learning OFA 3 the goldn hr made me aware that there is a time limit on how long I can stay on a scene. This is comparison to the public AED's. The studies show that yes if you attach the zappy thing within minutes the pt will have a higher rate of making it to the hospital, but in reality the mortality rate has not changed. If one person is saved by the term Golden Hr or by the zappy thing then why the issue. Just asking ???????????????????
  23. Here's a good one. RCMP rookie at a grow op in the middle of summer doing the clean up duties. Started with the whole jumpsuit but by lunch time was down to t-shirt and pants. By the end of the day higher than a kite as the THC absorbed through his skin from the plants. I dont think there is any video but it sure would have been funny to watch.
  24. Makes me almost want another one
  25. Gee AK you sound a bit crabby on this subject...... First never said we had make hero's out of everyone or anyone at any part of the day. Lets face one fact here when you are a first responder of any sort and those that are around you know that (as in this case) you are expected to help in anyway that you can. If I walked away from any scene off duty not only would I personally feel crappy about it, I would be disappointing the community that I do this job for. Please remember with me this is not my career as such and maybe go back in my postings to remember why I do this job. Any ways off I have to go as my pager just went off.................................. PS AK I respect you alot and your knowledge but please remember there are those that dont think like you and do this for other reasons
