I haven't heard any stories about jumping it and I'm sure I would have if it happened (advantage of working for a small company). Hopefully if anyone did jump it they'd turn off the battery switch...

I think it is, but not 100% sure. The vehicle is going in for service later this week anyways, so we're just adding it to the list of things to get taken care of.

What about all the patients who get clinically cleared in the ER without the use of those devices? Under the concept of "We can't clear until we have an x-ray machine," isn't any physician who clears c-spine based on clinical findings, instead of radiology findings, committing malpractice? If not, then why is the presence of imaging technology important for a decision that, by it's very nature, does not need these devices?

No conclusive evidence for selective spinal immbolization? My understanding is that there is no conclusive evidence to support spinal immbolization to begin with.

So my company just uncovered a major problem with one of the ambulances. The ambulance is a 2007 Chevrolet Wheeled Coach Crusader with 22000 miles. The issue we recently found was that when the "primary" emergency lights are active the lights will shut off after around 30 to 60 seconds and restart again after around 30 seconds repeating ad infinitum. This occurs whether or not the light bar is active (tested both with and without the light bar) and the light bar didn't appear to affect how long it takes for the lights to shut down. During the shut down period, I haven't been able to find a way to restart the lights (toggling, for example, doesn't work). Unfortunately, there isn't a volt or amp meter built into the system. The "secondary" emergency lights work fine with or without the light bar. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue with Wheeled Coach ambulances?

If it makes you feel better about it, surgeons aren't real doctors anyways. Why else isn't a surgeon called a doctor?

You know, pending dash cam footage I highly doubt that any assault occurred. You simply are not going to assault an officer and either stay standing, or not be arrested. In the end, and after consulting the DA while at the hospital, the medic wasn't arrested. I think that says a who hell of a lot about this case.

I don't get how anyone can think that a 110 hour certification somehow provides better care than someone with 1000 hours of training.

What's even more ridiculous than requiring sirens with lights is requiring all transports to use the emergency lights.

...because the amount and time required for the exothermic chemicals to melt ice on walkways is too much to be used in emergency situations. It works, just not in an acceptable time frame. Also anything that can be scraped off and/or removed (i.e. snow) needs to be removed first.

How are people being dumb by doing exactly what they are told to do when confronted with an emergency vehicle with its emergency lights on? Also, why do you have your lights on for a non-emergent patient?

Err, he was talking in km/h not MPH. There's a big difference between 30 km/h and 30 MPH.

Wouldn't the drivers still have the ability to challenge the fine in court, including the ability to call evidence in their support, such as the call log showing them on a priority response?
