  3. We just recieved our ez IO guns this week getting trained on them in a few weeks. I was wondering if you guys/gals (ems community) have used them, whether u lik the old IO's or the ez IO guns. Please let me know, im kinda wondering about the usage of these new toys........... Thank you EMS828
  4. Last week we had a nasty storm, icy roads, blowing snow and visibility of about 100 ft at times. We were supposed to take a priority 3 patient (psych 8y/o) about 150 miles away, and we had a few other out of town transfers, the state police were telling everyone to stay of the roads unless an absolute emergency. The question is: Should we risk crews, patints and family (if riding) to do a Priority 3 transfer from one hospital to another. But still handle prehospital 911's. Any thoughts..................... Thanks EMS828
  5. I would like to hear from anyone who has used a c pap prehospital. The issue i ran into is that i was tranfering a patient from a hospital to another hospital that was on a c pap. i had a full tnk of O2 (2000psi). By the time i got to my destination which was about a 30-35 minute ride time I used 1500psi. I personally think that this is a little much usage of O2, when sometimes we only have 500-1000psi sometimes in our tanks. Most of our prehospital transports are sometimes 35-45 minutes. Any thoughts or problems with the c paps anybody uses. (i am not sure of the odel or maker of the machine) thanks ems828
  6. i had one pysch patient who could not recieve sedation it made him worse............ he wold lash out with pens, towels, what ever he could get his hands on, but we transported in six point harness and took 1 driver and 3 in the back............ so sometimes chemical sedation works and then sometimes does not, but i like the zool m monitor idea lololol
  7. we had a tahoe with partition and medicare quit paying for transports its back to using ambulances like i said no safety for ems personel................
  8. Should we as EMS providers transport violent psych patients to appropriate facilities, or should that be left to the Police. I have transported with chemical restraints but that does not always work. i mean your in a small area and if the patient decides to get violent there is no where to go, except protect yourself. any thoughts or feelings............................... i feel if they are violent they should go by Police.....................
  9. in my medical control emt-b, with medical control approval they can with good vs (bp-120 systolic, HR-good and if the patient has taken nitro before, and if ALS is with in 15 minutes.
  10. i would like to know if any other ems agencies run into problems, when they take a patient to the emergency room in hand cuffs............... My clinical coordinator and medical control say that a hand cuffed patient law enforcement needs to be in the back of the ambulance. I took a patient awhile ago without law enforcement.............. i didnt get into trouble but talked to because i when against protocol.......... any thoughts or feelings guys/ gals
  11. well i think that everyone should have some type of healthcare, my partner this past weekend had a patient who was having CP the last 3 weeks, and that person did nothing, because they did not have any insurance, could it have been a MI, not sure but, we all need some type of insurance..................
  12. i think we have to force entry into homes if called. This past weekend I had to force entry into a home, and good thing that i did, the patient actually had a seizure! We have law enforcement go with us if we might have to force entry. I guess it dependds on the medic and personel he is with. Bubba
