  1. Your concept in theroy is correct but not true. All crews of same licensing should produce the same out come however in truth we all know this doesn't happen as often as it should. I can verify that at my own service. In regard to I should be most concerned about my performance, yes, I do believe anyone in this field must be as prepared and able as they can be, that being said, is it not quite selfish of those in senior positions or any position at all for that matter, to only have focus upon their skill set? Why would we not want to ensure that no matter what service all of those around us are trained, confident and held to the same level as ourself? It is quite possible the context of my original question has been a bit skewed. It is not a matter of who is "better", but who gives better treatment. Now this is where I feel things have gone off track. Now yes by treatment I mean just that, but...not just in medicine in the back of our units. Example, do we all feel 911 and private have the same compassion toward pts. Do we all believe a person who has made a career in private ems lacks skills any any areas? So on and such Paramedicmike... I started this post with several thoughts actually but in the end I wanted to get a feel of whether or not most in our field believe one service may produce more satisfied personnel over the course of ones career. I know much more goes into it but my focus is on pt care in this topic, again not only medical but the entire pt experience. I feel satisfied in my service for the most part and look forward to growing with them. I jusf want to get other opinions to pad my decision to forego 911 or if I should consider a swap.
  2. To be quite honest its mainly that at this point in my career im at a point of do I want to stay in private services and make a bigger push into management or switch to 911. I practice in Tennessee. As far as treatment skill allow me to clarify a bit. Lets say we have a private unit sith aemt and emt crew and 911 unit with aemt and emt crew. Now I know the majority of 911 here has paramedics but for the sake of this post...lets go with resp distress call extended periods of apnea, pt managing 5-6 breathes/ min, spo2 in low 80s, fully unresponsive during apnea, not AAO. 911 and private folks alike, whats your course of action? With not sith***
  3. Well the private service I work for does transport service as well as a fairly steady volume of folks going into the er as well. However I do see your point.
  4. Convalescent service....this is a rather serious question actually. I have served as a combat medic, emergency room emt, emt iv and aemt. Does anyone believe that those with 911 treat pts better than ppl that have only been in say an er or a private ambulance. I know its a broad question but im looking for what ppl believe on all sides of this.
  5. Ece or aha 2010. I believe its cardiac section though Ecc 2010 sry The thought behind keeping o2 levels 95% range is mainly in cva or severe mi cases from what I understand. An increase of high saturation is reported to actually constrict artery blood flow and thus actually casuse more damage to these pts.
  6. Just curious what everyones belief is as to who, if either, gives hetter treatment to patients....
  7. My name is Gary. Im a former Army medic. I currently work as an Emt iv and just recently got my advanced cert.
