Just to give you a bit of background on felony fighting. It was originated in Mexico. The aim of a real fight is to fight until you can’t fight no more, thus meaning the person is either dead or everyone’s rushed in to try and stop the fight, if you go down then your pretty much a goner. As you could see in this video the bigger chap wouldn’t have stopped fighting unless that guy stopped him, imagine what would have happened to the guy lying on the ground if he kept going - he would have possibly died. It shocked me that felony fighting is actually a sport and it is not illegal as it has been organized and both people are participating at their own free will. Having both witnessed and administer first aid to people who have been involved in felony fighting I can tell you it’s as scary as it gets to watch and it made me sick to see someone with no regard what so ever to another human life. They stop at nothing to see that other person lying there, knocked out with blood ever were and their still bashing the $hit out of them. They don’t even get any money out of it; it’s just one big fight to see who’s tougher than the other. These people actually get a kick out of killing someone. To think that someone would re post this sort of activity on an EMS forum is beyond me… Good on yah home boy!

Felony Fighting is not funny at all. Out of all the things to post on here you had to choose a felony fight… Why don’t you at least post a real felony, you know the one wear they bash each other to death…

You don't know how wrong you are... You can never get use to some things.

Having witness a few fights like this I can tell you that the guy who went down was extremely lucky, normally they don’t stop… I agree, this post should be deleted, people don’t need to see this stuff!

Dispatched as CPR in progress, end up as an RMA

I’m no paramedic but wouldn’t putting a NPA down while someone’s having a seizure cause unnecessary tissue damage maybe even some bleeding?? If their airway is obstructed then wouldn’t rolling them onto their side and maintaining an airway this way be adequate enough? :? -

Eathcore Rave Party (My Experience) : I live in a rural area so Rave Party’s are out in the middle of someone’s paddock about an hours away from any form of civilization, normally 7000 + people taking any sort of drugs they can find, drinking and mixing any sort of alcohol they can find, having sex with anything they can find also the river that runs past this persons farm doesn’t help, its also extremely hot. It’s on a private property so the police can’t do anything about it, they have professional security there but their pretty much paid to turn a blind eye. The event has 4 stages and a few tents. The event it self is a geographic area of 100 acres which is massive. St John normally have 60 First Aid, ACMT team (doctors, nurses, paramedics) and a field hospital set up. It is quiet an experience to say the least lol…. This is the event we cover: The Rave Party’s in Melbourne are in places like Rod Laver Arena these events are way more controlled with police, it is suppose to be a drug free event lol… -
Wow what was I smoking last night  :?

Of course I asked him if he wanted the ambulance, after some gentle persuasion lol. I pulled on the ‘I’m only a first aider’ act. I just told him that the paramedics would come to check him out then it was up to them if they transported or not = I covered myself. Look if he refused that much I would have just got him to sign the refused treatment form and he could have been on his way. I think he was pulling on the macho man act in front of his family so it did take some persuasion but in the end the decisions made all worked out to benefit the patient and he received the best care possible.

This sir is exactly why the event didn’t get St John back thus turning them off employing a first aid provider and getting their own first aid that they can control and know that there wont be any ‘ego’ / 'look at me with my commander vest' problems! Plus St John charge too much lol
-
Wow that would have been a waste of time…. We only treated 20 and sent 3 to hospital via ambo… Although the year before St John did cover the event with 30 first aiders + doctor. They were bored out of there brains! All the event is, cars doing burnouts, people come sit there and watch it, safety to competitors and spectators is taken to the extreme so it’s not really classed as a high risk event. It’s alcohol free and most of the crowd is under the age of 40. Only problem we had was heat related as it was 40 degrees but they were given out free bottles of water like there was no tomorrow and there was plenty of shade.

Lol well I aint complaing about the pay!!! And yes before anyone asks we were fully covered by insurance and if anyone would like to see a copy of the plan then I would be more than happy to sent it to you, it’s better than St Johns insurance put it that way. And even if I was on duty with St John there still wasn’t anything more I could have done for the patient…

lol so that’s why I didn’t become a cardiologist....
-
Well I didn’t really look at what med the pt was on mainly because I wouldn’t know how to say it nor could I read those extremity long words and he had a massive plastic bag of them, about 15 packets, out of the ones I picked out he had a few cardiac meds for a stunt he had put in plus the benzos for I’m assuming anxiety. I’m not really that trained in pharmacology so there’s not really much point in me worrying about what the pts meds are as long as I hand them to the medics to look at. As far as the event was concerned it was a car festival with a crowd of 48,000 each day. There was only 3 first aid staff for the duration of the event, no ambulance or anything only a room with basic first aid supplies. No it wasn’t with St John. I was privately employed by the event to be there first aider.

I’ve never heard of code referred to as cardiac arrest until I came to this site. We also say cardiac arrest. The only codes we have here are the ones we use on the radio. We don’t even say patient arrested by police, we have to say patient was remanded in police custody. We have codes 1 to 12 + code red and purple.

I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been called to someone who is ‘dead’ but we never do find them lol. I worked a Rave Party Event, a man came running up to the medical centre stated that the person in the tent next door to him hadn’t moved for a couple of hours. Myself and another member responded, upon arrival in the tent we found that it was a dummy a person had set up to make it look like someone was in his tent while he was on the dance floor. While I was climbing into the tent the head fell off so we decided to be smart asses and call it in as a trauma arrest with loss of limb, I have never seen some many doctors and ambulances rush to a scene so fast lol. -
lol, thanks for that Asys extremely informative.
-
No, No, its fine, everyone’s entitled to their own opinion
-
Thanks for that guys, appreciate it. Yes I was working as a first aider… We don’t have BLS Ambulances here it’s either ALS or IC so I guess the IC guys just got the short straw, I most certainly didn’t request MICA.

Had a 65yo male present with Epistaxis that had been running on and off for 12 hours (overnight). Pt had hx of cardiac + hypertension, had taken his Benzodiazepine and cardiac meds as prescribed. Pt looked pale BP: 160/95, GCS 15, everything else was reasonably normal. Wife stated that pt had been making a gurgling noise throughout the night. Pt was the head of catering at a 3 day event. I call the ambulance, IC paramedics rock up, they were quiet abusive and hostile towards me for calling them and wasting their time, made me look like a moron in front of the family. Pt had refused to go to hospital or see a doctor so I called the ambulance mainly to cover myself and to be sure that he received proper care as he would have continued to work in extremely hot heat. After quiet a lengthy and heated debate between myself, the medics, the patient and his family we all finally agreed to disagree to go to hospital. The pt returned to event next day after having gauze packs and meds review. My question is did I make the right decision about calling the paramedics, they’ve kick up quiet a stick about it and I’m kinda feeling bad…
