  3. I must admit, sometimes i wanna grab the nurses by the shoulders and yell at her "Of course she is confused, cant you smell that raging UTI" And your not eve in the room with the patient yet.
  4. Nah, if i wanted to have sadistic man on man action, id say "Punch in the back of the head kiwi you man whore" or something to that effect.........
  5. Think the Kiwis must either have a sense of humour or are stark raving mad sending a soccer team to South Africa named the "All Whites"

  8. fecal vomit....even worse when the dementia pt spews it into their 02 mask then starts eating it before you can get your seatblet off to take the mask off their face
  9. Dammit, beat me...
  10. I know i was a bit obscure, but i was talking more about peoples emotional reaction to what a community/culture believes is hallowed or sacred ground, while the circumstances are different the emotion is irrelevent in both cases. I don't think it ebing your soil is the issue, i think the emotion is the issue, and im sure you have US citizens who are muslim no? The reason there is an issue with this is because of cras views stated by someone earlier "all terrorists are muslims" Thats the problem, no mater whose soil your on. Typical kiwi's! So, hows about them all whites
  11. Shit, im busted now.....
  12. In turkey there is a place called Gallipolli. For people who don't know, the WW1 action there is regarded as one of the defining moments of Australian History, some consider federation as the conception of austrralia, and the birth took place on that battlefield as it was the first time this country acted on a world stage as a country rather than seperate colonies. To us it could possibly be the most sacred piece of ground for our country (aside from my BBQ area and fire pit) We didn't send the Victorian mounted rifles, the New South Wales Lancers, Queensland Light Infantry, we sent the Australian Imperial Force, a corp of soldiers along with our New Zealand buddies under the name ANZAC, there, we lost nearly 10,000 aussies and kiwi's for what amounted to a stuff up - the battlefields have been preserved, with a great deal of aussie bucks going to it every year. A few years ago, the turkish government started building a road through there. Oh, can you imagine the shenanigans that caused and the lines trotted out, about it being a slap in the face to the diggers, disrespect, robbing war graves etc etc. I say, build the damn road and get on with life. Should we dislike turks 90 years on because we lost 10 thousand men to their guns? In another 90 years for building that road where so many died? Okay, something else.... If someone wanted to build a mosque in Bondi near the memorial to the 88 people killed in Bali should we refuse? Where does it stop?
  13. Whats to get offended about, seems like a reasonable analogy to me? What if he said... Or is that too offensive to people in St Louis?
  14. Harkens back to 766? As long as we don't dig up too much of the past! To put it in context, reply from the PM is to complaints that the Feds and ASIO were investigating persons of interest who just happened to frequent mosques I used to work with a guy who started out as a fed, he once told me that there used to be a lot of irish people under surveillance here on the 70's and 80. Guess that means we hate irish and catholics?
  15. I love these threads! The truth is you guys will never have a constructive discussion in here because most of you cant take the emotion out of this. Lets see it for what it is..... Somone bought/leased whatever a block of land in New York On this block of land they will build a building In this building there will be a gym, a swimming pool, maybe some office space? a car park? And someone is going to buy or rent floor space so a bunch of dudes can take off their shoes and pray to their deity - who gives a rats ass. Lets stretch it further, maybe the gym will attract fat people that will be a slap in the face to those fit firefighters who died...... Maybe that office space will have some fraudulent business people who are a slap in the face to those honest business people in WTC......... Maybe the swimming pool is a slap in the face to people who cant swim....... Car parking to people who don't own cars.... Oxygen to people who have COPD.......... A day care to people who can't have kids...... No urinals for blokes who like to stand up...... "slap in the face", calculated to upset people? anti american sentiment? Sure, only if you want it to be.... At what point are you people going to practice what you preach? Land of the free? freedom of speech? Religous tolerance? Separation of church and state? Habeus Corpus? It all means absolutely fucken nothing if its not extended to everyone, which includes some people being able to have a piece of empty floor where they can take their shoes and get their religious rocks off. Or is America to become the great hypocrisy?
  16. Yeah, is a bit misleading.... RAAF retired their unmodified 707's within the last few years
  17. Read the book, way better than the flick. In fact, where is Asys? Im sure that guy had some inside info on the medic who wrote the novel.
  18. I call bullshit on the whole thing My .2 cents /\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\ just so i can see what we are talking about.......... Pulsitile asystole is impossible, even with VAD or any other mechanical device has to show some kind of electrical interference on any monitor. Hell, i can get the pulse oximeter to show some pacemaker spikes on the screen if i get the leads in the right sort of tangle. This pt has signs of life and i do not understand why this pt would recieve CPR (if in fact this occurred) The monitor shows asystole but the pt has a pulse, big deal, our MRX's tell us the pt is in VT all the time because it cant figure out a paced rhythm with a wide or inverted QRS or a rough road. I can get it to say i'm in VF if i squeeze up like im trying to have a big crap too! Cyanosis from the nipple line and up, pulse present, erratic. Ill go with an ?? obese person or one with high electrical impedence who has Atrial fib and thrown saddle PE (APO/pulmonary effusion/pericardial tamponade as an ultra long shot) Ill put this down to treating the monitor and not the patient. Another oprion is good ole chinese whispers has changed the story purple monkey dishwasher.....
  19. F + U Ambulance was better
  20. Take everything that ASNSW has to say with a couple of Kg of rock salt, they will promise you the world and when you show up their world will be different from yours. I once met a MICA Paramedic who was trying to get into ASNSW to he could be closer to his aging parents, and ASNSW was still going to place him as a level 2 student for a few months while they assessed his "competency" (despite the fact he had a degree, postraduate in intensive care paramedic studies, postrag in aeromedical retrievel, all of which exceeds ASNSW maximal training and education requirements, but they were still going to place him as a student then a general duties ambo before they let him cahllenge the IC level, despite the fact that the VIC MICA skill set is far and aboive the NSW IC skill set - just crazy) Also, beware ASNSW reserves the right to place you ANYWHERE they have a vacancy, classic example is an irish husband and wife team were given postings, one in sydney nd the other out near broken hill. talk to aussiphil, he's an ASNSW Paramedic NSW still recruits off the street, so even at its worst you can come in as general entry, they do have a graduate stream.
  21. Gee, with the amount of post bashing that goes on around here i thought i would be getting a real schalacking by now
  22. Okay, so some person from another country becomes an American citizen, is involved with terrorism and gets caught, so you send em back to where they came from where they will probably be hailed a hero and be able to continue being a terrorist. Awesome idea!
  23. That was sorta my line of thinking. While she is on warfarin her INR has steadily been elevating despite continually reducing her warfarin dose. The INR level was taken the morning that i picked this patient up so it is current. understand that, but that's not what i asked
  24. Fair enough, the pt was never getting aspirin anyway due to a severe headache from a fall at the same time, was just seeing what others views on it was. I take the EBM thing, was always going to look this up but not last night as i finished work late and quite frankly could not have been bothered at 2100 Just thought I'd throw it out there.
  25. hi all, basically need some guidance as i am double guessing myself Went to a pt today who appears to be in renal failure, for past 2/7 pt has had increasing lethargy and weakness, nausea and vomiting, cool, pale and diaphoretic, B/P 70/50, HR 100, RR 16, SP02 80 on room air but no SOB and chest is clear, Temp is 36.3 and BSL is 7.6 mmol, no 12 lead but sinus rhythm on the monitor (wonder where the Af went?). Has a Hx of renal failure, was on dialysis until 5 years ago when she had a kidney transplant, has CCF, HT, Af, IHD and an NIDDM. Anyway, this pt is also complaining of this jaw pain and i start thinking awesome, she has been having prodromal symptoms for the past 2 days and now she is having the big one, but I decide to with hold aspirin due to her INR being 6.5 My question is this, do you feel it is reasonable to with hold aspirin in suspected AMI based on INR in the world of paramology? Cheers
